The platformer with a twist becomes available to the public on October 23rd, from the little company nestled on the edge of the Black Forest in Offenburg, Germany. We were formerly known as Spellbound Entertainment, and this is our very first release as Black Forest Games.

Having just successfully completed our Kickstarter campaign and then some, we are pleased to spread the word in the communities that are homes to some of our beloved backers, and anyone else who is interested in the sisters. Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams is a challenging fast-paced platformer with a twist. You can warp Gianas dream world to transform your abilities and surroundings. Use your skill, speed, brains, and powers to defeat the dangers that populate these twisted dreams!

Oh, man. I only barely remember the Gianna Sisters, but the videos show promise. Hope its as good as the original.

So excited for this. As a side note - why is the DS version so frickin' hard to find in the US? I really want a copy but it's complete needle in a haystack at retail.

So yeah, this game is fucking amazing! You play as both Giana sisters at the same time, and you can switch between them at the press of a button. Each sister has a different special move - one can kinda glide sorta like the racoon tail from mario 3 except you hold the button instead of tapping it, and the other can explode into a fireball and bounce off of walls. This mechanic works almost exactly like the jetpack from rocket knight adventures.

The levels change depending on which sister you are. The punk sister goes through a sweet, colorful, happy world, while the happy sister goes through a dark, twisted world. The level design is a bit like Sonic CD, except instead of only being able to change time periods at certain points, you can switch to the alternate dimension at any time with the press of a button. Certain obstacles might work in one world that don't in others. And, additionally, each sister can only pick up one type of gem, despite being able to see the other kind. If you follow the trails of gems, they'll lead you to when you should logically switch between sisters.

It's a much faster game than the old Super Mario Bros clone of old, and a lot better too.

I want this game. I had thought that 2D platforming games were dead and buried, but between this, the Trine series, Mark of the Ninja, etc, I think that things might be brighter than ever in terms of quality for 2D games.

The only question is: do I want to play it now, or wait for a Steam sale?

Ah, who am I kidding. A-list games get bought on Steam sales. Indie games? Full price is paid for those.

So, I have the game now. It's a lot of fun, except I'm apparently really, really, really terrible at rocket bouncing up the shafts. There was one in the first two levels that I spent a good five minutes on. I've now spent a half hour on trying to get up a shaft at the start of the third level.

I love the soundtrack.

Helped kickstart this for both the game and the soundtrack (Machinae Supremacy, one of my favourite bands did parts of the soundtrack) and I am eagerly awaiting the delivery of that.

In the meantime, I have been enjoying the game one steam and I must say that it is a good platformer. Despite not having any good controller for my computer it's been a blast playing it with just my keyboard!

I can't beat the Gurglewocky. I've gotten through the entire rest of this game (and a great game it is, too), but the Gurglewocky just murders me every time.

The weird thing is, I keep coming back for more. That is the mark of a great game; when it can kick your ass over and over again, and you still want to play it again.
