Here is a thread to discuss the second Presidential debate between Mitt "Mittens" Romney and Barack "The Islamic Shock" Obama. Moderating is CNN's Candy Crowley frequent guest of right wing radio. Fortunately it's a town hall, so her impact should be lessened. But still horrifying, as she is awful.
The race is close now, with polls either saying Romney has a slight lead, Obama has a slight lead, or it's tied (it's tied, yo). Swing state polls still favor the President, slightly, particularly in Ohio. Obama's first debate performance was weak and then absolutely castigated by the media who turned weak into "THE WORST THING ANYONE HAS EVER DONE IN POLITICS."

The idea that your vote is a moral statement about you or who you vote for is some backwards ass libertarian nonsense. Your vote is about society. Vote to protect the vulnerable.

The debate I'm not so worried about. I think Obama is strong in this format and he knows he has to do well. However, the media is going to come out saying it's a Romney win pretty much no matter what, since they don't want to be "biased" and apparently the only time they are biased is when they agree with the democrats.
Sigh.
"What I wanner know is, What is the government gonner do 'bout them goldurned Sharia A-rabs drivin' up the price of corn with North Korea!"
Even worse, I feel, are the non-questions. i.e. things like
"Governor, how important has your family been to you on the campaign trail this year?"
Anything is possible with this format.
"Governor, we all know America is the greatest great thing in the history of greatness, but how would you restore the greatness that was so great about our greatness? America!"

They didn't back off. They're still offering the prize if someone does it. They're just offering a second prize now via online contest. They made it worse.
And of course, if someone does, the entire debate counts for jack shit because that's all the media will focus on.
Somehow, Pizza Hut has managed to create something even worse than their pizza.

Having been a driver at Pizza Hut for 4 years I can tell you that Pizza Hut hates Book-It.
God the headaches it caused because people can't read what they actually say and/or would just try to abuse them.
Oh, really? You have 12 kids and you're getting a free pizza for every one right now the day they expire? Yes, I absolutely believe you. Oh you want those delivered, with nothing else? Let me get right on that.
Our franchise stopped taking them at one point between distributions because a few teachers had just handed out, en masse, all of their extras to kids after they had expired and all of the local stores were getting inundated with dozens of expired book-it coupons every day for weeks, and dealing with angry parents bitching at us that their kids weren't getting 'rewarded' with what they 'earned'. When we pointed out something like, that expired 2 months ago, you should really talk to the teacher who gave it to the kid, they'd just get more mad.
It was always our fault when they couldn't read or the teachers were giving out expired coupons. And we were always somehow unreasonable when we wouldn't deliver 4 free personal pans with nothing else on their order. "yes, yes, I believe you, you'll absolutely give the driver a good tip, yep. sure."
God.
But we had to do it, because corporate wants kids eating the pizza young, thinking of pizza hut as a reward so they want it more often, so they could breed customers from grade school. Nothing fucking detestable about that.
