So I shot down a Medium UFO and sent out my A-Team to kill anything moving there. While enroute, I get an abduction alert, and my only option is to Ignore it. Once I'm done with the UFO, will I be able to respond to the abductions too? Or do I automatically fail all 3 of them because I happened to be in the air?
You usually have a window of a day or so before the missions are no longer available, so long as the UFO you shot down isn't halfway across the world you should be able to make it back in time.
Is there a simple way to edit a soldier? I'm playing on classic ironman and I simply cannot let this extra hitpoint stand. I got an Lt. Support as a mission reward and he's ruining my enjoyment just by having extra hitpoints.

You guys, Classic is a little harder than Normal.
On the bright side, I somehow managed to get "As a Scalpel" with a bunch of rookies and squaddies - something I never managed on Normal.

Also my idea for an elite version of the thin man is this: they're infiltrators, so an advanced version is an infiltrator that is indistinguishable from a human being. They look exactly the same until they pull a pistol and shoot you. Now put this enemy into a terror mission.
Do you see.
Do you.
I wonder if all the thin men left after the game's events in various cities decided to just get jobs or whatever. I bet they'd make good politicians

Terror mission going great. Chrysalid fucks up its automove and my team brings it down to 1 health via a combination of overwatch and flanking shots. I think to myself "Hey, I still haven't captured one of these alive yet, and my arc-thrower carrier still hasn't acted this turn..."
Yeah.
I know - I'm that good of a salesman.

Operation Hot Palace turned out to not be a fantastic sexual romp through downtown Tokyo?

What I really want is, prior to finding your first Thin Man, there's a couple in the base just hanging out. Infiltrating!

If you have PSI troopers, and you mind control a target and the aliens kill it before mind control wears off, you keep that target's equipment intact by the end of the battle.
I'd guess it's a bug - game treats it as a friendly death so items = recovered. But if it is or isn't, it's a hell of a lot more effective and safe method of recovering some free equipment compared to the Arc thrower.
As long as whatever you're trying to mind control isn't also a PSI user.
It probably is a bug. however, I think it's balanced by the fact that a mind controlled alien, when killed, can cause panic in your own troops (loss of ally).
Yep. That Assault I mentioned, the one who flubbed the stun? A little later she flipped her shit when an MC'd muton was shot dead by its friends (she ended up panic-firing and killing another enemy, but still).

LOL...
On getting the Muton's rifle, I don't think it is a bug really because you get all the left over equipment after a win, it is just that the Muton's stuff does not self destruct when he is killed by his mates...

I have everything of importance researched except Ghost and Psi Armor, I've captured a Sectoid Commander, built 2 Firestorms, and completed the Base Assault which reduced panic to 1 worldwide.
As long as I can avoid losing more than 3 Terror Missions, I think I just have to keep my high ranked soldiers alive and I'll have enough for the final mission.
Killed in a mission called Enudring Future? That's so sad.
Best part - you only died because your squadmate decided to panic and shoot the VIP in the back. Posted about it back a few pages:
I managed to snag a small UFO flying over my one satellited country which got me some early resources. Workshop is done as is power generator - started the next uplink shortly after the beginning of month 2. Only lost 1-2 soldiers in the first couple of missions, then a core team emerged, led by assault @Corpekata - the only soldier to earn a nickname to this point.
Then the first VIP mission happened. The scientist escort mission.
I move through the buildings towards the extraction zone. All the aliens (Sectoids and Thin Men) spawn outside, so moving through the buildings is working well. There are some wounds, but no casualties.
I get set up for a final sprint to the LZ. The VIP is hunkered next to @Corpekata , who's got lightning reflexes. The next turn, I'll run him out first to eat up an overwatching Thin Man, and then the VIP will be clear to sprint to the goal.
On the alien turn, a Thin Man kills my support guy essentially through a wall (in full cover). My heavy panics and...shoots the VIP in the back. Only one soldier made it out alive. He promptly regrets it because the next mission is a squad wipe and my barracks now consists of 7 rookies.
That's XCOM, baby!

@Captain Carrot You can sign up here, or let me know your preferred nationality and gender and I can enter it manually. Will regen the files tonight (which can be found in my sig).
I'm working through my first (Normal Ironman) run. Sheesh, I'm glad I didn't jump directly into Classic. I've lost a few good soldiers fairly early on (3 months in) so I can only imagine how difficult Classic must be. I kind of wish we could get a new Fallout in this style.
I'm also constantly scraping by for money and alloys. I very rarely use explosives so I'm kind of perplexed how I managed to use up all my alloys so fast. I really need to upgrade my ships but I don't have the resources. I just had my first encounter with a gironomous UFO that forced me to abort for the first time. Gah!
I imagine my money situation will get better again by the end of the next month after I launch a couple more satellites but frig, I know I'd be getting my ass handed to me if this were Classic. After I beat it on Normal, win or lose, I'm going Classic Ironman with a roguelike mentality going in.

Yeah, I gave up on classic ironman after a while, but now normal ironman is too damned easy. Maybe classic without the ironman? I dunno... friggen bad great game...
Yeah that is a thing. I had one reflect two reaction shots in a row from my heavy. I guess it counts it as a hit with zero damage otherwise he wouldn't have gotten a second shot.
Does anyone know if it's safe to dismantle your officer training school once you've bought all the upgrades? I'd try it myself, but I'm on classic ironman and I'm afraid of losing the upgrades until I rebuild it, or worse, having to buy them again.

You lose upgrades. I tried it so I could move where it was located, and my squad size went down to 4.

If you trash the building, you lose the upgrades.

Turning 180 degrees to shoot your ally in the head due to a distant friend being shot in the head is not a reasonable response, game. I don't mind my squad getting wiped due to RNG. I can live with funky line of sight rules. This, though, just makes me dislike the game immensely. It breaks suspension of disbelief to the point where if I didn't play the previous game I would not even know what the abstraction is supposed to represent.

I'm down with the fact I make it past squaddie in most peoples games. Hopefully all my deaths are suitably horrific.

Not on Classic.
But the Satellite is from a Council mission, so you get that instead of a different reward (such as Engineers).
It happens, they get to do that now. Thankfully
