- First Person Slasher
- With a Multiplayer focus
(A competitive multiplayer FPS).

Basically right now most of the servers are Team Objective and Team Elimination. In TO maps you have some amazing objectives such as slaughtering filthy peasant NPCs and burning their houses down, or pushing a cart full of dead bodies. Team Elimination is just a straight out fight to the death, once a team is all dead everyone re-spawns and you do it again. Whoever wins the most rounds wins the match.
The game has unlocks. By using a certain class/weapon long enough, you unlock weapons in that chain. Each weapon has varying characteristics such as reach/length, damage, speed, etc. There's also a rank system, kind of like a level... Which insofar as I can tell has no effect other than letting people know how much of a bad ass viking warrior you are.
Also,
YOU CAN CHOP OFF PEOPLES HEADS, ARMS, AND LEGS and then laugh at them as they fall over gurgling and/or moaning as they die.
Classes:
From
Official Site.
Archer
The Archer is the ranged weapon specialist, he is best used in a support role and to deliver damage on his enemies from far to mid range. Vulnerable in Melee.
Special ability
Rogue – Does +50% backstab damage.
Man-at-arms
The Man-at-arms is the lightest melee class, he relies heavily on his evasion and speed abilities to land hits without taking any.
Special ability
Elusive – Can perform dodges. (Side stepping by double tapping strafe)
Knight
The most powerful, tank melee unit on the battlefield. His damage output and armour levels are offset by his lack of agility and generally slower weapons.
Special ability
Tank – Can absorb additional damage and takes less stamina to block incoming blows.
Vanguard
The Vanguards are an imposing aggressive force that form the frontline of an army. Their weapons have extremely long reach and deal incredible damage.
Special ability
Charge – Can sprint attack into battle.
Bugs:
The game just came out, and as usual with unreal engine multiplayer games somehow the server list got bungled. There's a very simple fix though, available on
their forums faq here. There's a couple other issues, nothing major though.
Buy it you filthy peasant, it's only $25.

But goddamn 30 bones. So people convince me that it is worth it over the OG version besides much prettier graphics.

Also, those voice actors put their heart and soul into this game. Those warcries never get old. And when your whole team is doing it at the same time...hot damn!

Those are two fantastic tutorials to get you into beginner an advanced fighting. Cheers!
The down side of this video is it is someone abusing a glitch. At the moment punches cant be blocked, even by shields so people keep trying to abuse them to get past knight shields. Though it was pretty satisfying coming across a guy doing this and i was a vanguard with claymore, i swing, he tries to block with his hands and i slice both his arms off.
These are wonderful tutorials. The second one helped me understand why certain players would always best me. As far as a steamgroup goes, absolutely. How do we set one up? I'd love to get some arranged team matches together.
steamcommunity.com/groups/pachivalry
also web browser for group is dumb, let me join via steam no issue.
Edit - and I can't spell..
lol I fixed it up
Thanks for posting these. I picked up a few tricks from them that I didn't know about like the jumping overhead and the mouse drag delayed slash.
Also, I joined the steam group. Looking forward to playing some objective games with an organized team.
It has its problems that make me cry BULLSHIT out in the middle of a match sometimes, and I hate the whole "you got knicked, your attack animation starts over now" shit but otherwise it's fantastical. I wanna rub my balls all over it.
Error, invalid ID?
^ This.
The thread title tempted me to come in here and, well, not be nice. And I don't play or own either game, and I hate the very concept of a "medieval deathmatch" game (not bashing those that do, but fps are hard enough for me without taking away my guns). Just seems tasteless to bash another game right off the bat.
Thread titles trashing other games are always bad ideas, even if, for example, naming new mmo threads things like "better than wow" might get more views.
When you get in a 1v1 fight it is intense and when you beat a dude you have the satisfaction of knowing that you didn't beat him because you were a higher level or had better stats, but that you were the better player. I usually play a Man-at-arms and defeating a Knight or a Vanguard who not only have reach on me, but can also take several more hits than I, never gets old.
For those not in the know, as a Man-at-arms I can take 1 or 2 hits from a Vanguard or Knight before dying, while they take around 4-5 hits for me to kill.
Player skill is greatly rewarded in this. If I loose a 1v1 fight (or even a 1v2) I've never felt it was for some bullshit reason. In fact I can quickly identify where I fucked up and how not to fuck up like that in the future.
One of my favorite tactics against dudes using polearms (and I am surprised it has worked so well and so many times for that matter) is that I will lure the dude in to a tight space while keeping my shield up. Before the guy even realizes what is going on he finds himself in a situation where he cannot swing his weapon. Then I commence with the head chopping. :P
I do vote for a thread title change.
Sorry. I typo'd this games name a thousand bloody times! This is the correct link above
Also, although it isn't fair to bash War of Roses, it is fun to compare the two. The link below is a video that does it extremely well.

It's an open group at the moment, so you can join anytime
it's not a big deal, it's just good most people aren't like you. can't imagine if every thread was like "DOTA: It's like LoL but not for stupid babies."
making yourself out to be superior for liking one video game over another is like the funniest thing imaginable, and it's not like you're doing yourself any favors since this thread has basically no discussion anyway.
You want some discussion? I'll throw down son.
1- Love Dueling
2- Never happens because everyone wants to stab everyone in the back
3- I am very guilty of 2
4- Why is this game not star wars
I think I've come somewhat close to perfecting the duel, however, those moments don't really exist. Don't you think they should have a honor duel server? It's absolutely horrifying to participate in an awestruck duel when all of a sudden your pulling a sword out of your ass. War is hell I suppose. I would still like to participate in some one on one fighting when I choose though.
Vanguards VS Knights - Just throwing this out there, but I think I've figured out how to keep a knight at bay. The 2 handed war axe when stabbed creates an almost impenetrable force between you (vanguard) and the knight (soon to be stuck dude). Try it out. You can keep these mothaFuckaaaa's at bay pretty easily by just poking at a distance. Eventually their urge to mash things with hammers will overcome them and thus their guard drops to their demise. Try it out.
Has anyone else mastered any elements they wish to share? The best part of this game is figuring out what works in certain situations.

Also MaA is so awesome I don't understand why people play other melee classes. I am pretty bad and I am destroying people thanks to the dodge.
I play MaA as well and love it, though I rarely use the dodge ability.
Everyone seems to go Vanguard or Knight thinking more armor + bigger weapons = insta win. This is laughably not the case.
Every Knight or Vanguard I fight I can take down the same way. Shield Bash followed by a flurry of slashes (about 4-5 depending on what I am fighting). That shield bash knocks out the enemy's defense and the flurry of attacks are so fast that it completely interrupts anything they try to do. If I pull off the shield bash and follow with the strikes it is a damn near guaranteed kill for me against a Vanguard or Knight. Rarely, very rarely has this tactic failed me.
It is made all the more hilarious by the fact that a Vanguard or Knight can kill me in 1-2 hits, but can never land a blow thanks to my shield.
Speaking of the shield, it is amazing. In Objective games where my team has to stop or defend something I will run straight for the enemy line, get the attention of a couple of them (like 3-4), then hold up my shield while facing them and slowly backing away from their objective. Almost without fail I can keep the attention of 3 or 4 jackasses who will continually follow me and strike at my shield because they are blinded by an "easy" kill. They fail to realize that I have just single handedly kept a small group of them from helping their teammates complete an objective. I can usually hold off a number of dudes for at least a minute. Longest stretch I had was 4 dudes at 5 minutes. We won that round and all they had to do was push a cart about one fucking foot to win it. :P
