No level requirement for the quest itself that I'm aware of but it does take you into higher level zones.
Would it be suicide for me to attempt getting the memoires, then?
Depends how good you dodge. Part one tops out at... 25ish, but you'll definitely die on the last one if there's not people around... Doable though, as you can get to where that is on Gendarran with very few enemies to go past until the tomb.
I did it at level 32 with no help and just a couple deaths. Getting to the areas is the hardest part. Once you are there, just follow the herd.
Spent 2-3 hours dicking around with the tower today. Made it about 80% of the way up. I can do this... it is just when there are 50 people obstructing the view... gah. Tomorrow perhaps.
It doesn't, what it does is it increases your vertical FoV. This isn't so noticeable for say, Da Biggest of norn like I play but for others you'll see a difference.
So uhm. Anyone know how to recover your password when you've lost the serial number? Due to being locked out of my own Paypal I had to use my mothers Paypal to buy the game, but unfortunately this means I was never sent the serial code. Which didn't strike me as a problem untill I just now found out that you need your serial code to recover your password, and I'm pretty sure that code is long gone since it was never sent to my e-mail to begin with.
Is there any way to get my password from my client? It's set to save my password automatically so I can still get into the game just fine, I just can't log into the site. Not too comfortable going for long without actually knowing my password though.
My condolences to those who are still trying to do the clock tower. If it's any consolation, the designer of that jumping puzzle says he only expects around 5% of the population to complete it.
5% eh? I've done it on 5 characters now. My last one is gonna be the biggest challenge... My asura. I thought about trying that tonight but i figure it'll take longer than the others did just because of visibility.
edit: oh and I've noticed that my charr and my norn are super small compared to everyone else. does everyone else just crank height to max and pick the fattest build there is?

You have just described my character creation method for every game ever.

Tallfatnorn represent! Go big or go home, says uncle Sam.
Hee. Got my monthly done, and had loads of fun with the Eternal Battlegrounds jumping puzzle. It took me so many tries to get the last bit. So many.
The dark bit was neat, though.

I tried it for half an hour and didn't get further than about half way.
Though I haven't been having any fun this event, so it was a combination of slightly too challenging and not really fun.

Really, really enjoying those two mini-games offered up by this latest Halloween content patch. The Mad King's Realm is fantastic and while I'm not sure if I'm up to the task of the Clock Tower jumping puzzle I had an absolute blast on Reaper's Rumble and Lunatic Inquisition, with the latter just edging out as my favourite. It starts kinda slow but it's fantastic running around a giant maze never knowing where a ghost will pop out to try and get you, panic!
My only complaint was I'm not sure if the Villager's stealth function is working 100%. There have been times I've been hiding round a corner from a ghost and stealthed, only for them to run by (NOT running into the little circle that appears around you, which I guess means they can see you if they step in that circle even if you're stealthed?) and get feared. Good thing I had a Spider Web handy to run away!

Aww nohing from the Clock tower after you beat it once then? That sucks.
I was hoping maybe finishing every day could get me a full set O mad king gear.
The mad king set does not have a unique skin. It's the same as previously attainable high level skins.

Anyone really excited to see what will happen in LA tonight?
Yes, but I don't think I'll be able to be online when it the bar reaches 100%

I'm fully expecting the patch to drop at the same time the event starts, leading thousands of players to get hit, break, and get stuck behind the log-in servers.
The more I play necro in WvW, the more I learn to appreciate just how crappy the profession is. No damage output (let alone burst damage), shitty support abilities, and not that durable either. Also hilariously (or sadly) bug ridden.
I'm not really feeling like leveling another char right now, either..

Necro is working fine for me in WvW? Deathshroud skill 4 is a good answer to invisible enemies, Staff is good at hitting people on walls, and I can out all the conditions on all the mans. Charzooka for when you need to AoE siege.
So this event is going down in 1 hour and 15 minutes?
While racing light mechs, your Urbanmech comes in second place, but only because it ran out of ammo.
Few notes: that this event doesnt seem to be giving any items or acheivements for attending. its just supposed to be something 'really cool' that can only happen once.
will someone please record it and upload it for those of us who can't attend. I'm assuming the statue blows up and mad king thorn makes his reappearance

There's not really anything a necro can do that another class wouldn't do way better. Most of the time I'm spreading conditions with staff+epidemic, which is really underwhelming (especially given how easy it's to remove conditions). DS on condition build is pretty much useless beyond the fear and another health bar for some situations, as it just takes all the 'good' abilities away and gives worse ones.
And the power build is way worse than condition build.

If you're sitting in DS, you're doing necro wrong. Tap in to hit 4 or 3 (instant-cast-even-when-cc'd-fear) then tap back out again. Only exception is using it as another health bar when you're drawing lots of unwanted attention to yourself.
The necro power build is crazy underrated. Take 30 Soul Reaping and at least 15 Curses and you have fury up, permanently, just by tapping in and out of DS every five seconds.
It's not much fun if you're rolling with randomers, but necro support builds are some of the best in the game at keeping people alive and healthy, so that might also be worth a try.
Then again, if you're planning on just rolling into the enemy zerg and mashing autoattack, this probably isn't the best class for you. I also think you're getting too angsty about conditions and condition removal; conditions aren't supposed to be long-lasting things in this game. What the necro is really, really good at doing is outconditioning the condition removal of other classes. Light fields are a pain, but you should be applying AoE conditions all the time regardless.
I *don't* sit in DS, I'm using it as you describe (which is kind of lame in a way, given how it's our class mechanic)
I've tried the power build, and it's crap. It doesn't have any burst either, and the damage isn't noteworthy. Also it's from extremely limited range (axe), or the projectiles go at crawling speeds (staff).
Necro support builds are worthless compared to what basically any other profession brings. I don't know why you'd want a necro if you could have like elementalist or engineer healing (or otherwise supporting).
If the conditions were actually dangerous it woulnd't matter that they can be easily removed. Alas they're usually pretty much harmless*and* can be easily removed. I consider myself lucky if I can get few stacks of bleed on a single target for epidemic before it gets removed. Even when I get awesome stacks of bleed and other conditions going, the damage is nothing special (and again, easily removed, and not bursty).
Basically the only time I feel like I'm playing a remotely useful profession is small encounters (between 2 to 8 foes or so), and even then a mesmer could be insanely more effective (any class really, but)

Bold for being opposite to the truth.
Seriously, if you can't make it work then try another class.
This was not the "attend the party" event. They just opened an awesome new dungeon... Pretty short, but gives as much xp as any other dungeon. (By short - I mean it's basically a couple sets of non-dungeon strength mobs and Thorn, with some minor jumping between sections)

Once makeovers happen though, I may make my Asura biggest height just so I can see better.

Correct. The rage on the forums is quite strong. (Not that I blame them)

Yeah. You could try to AFK there, it might work... or might not.

Also a staff necro behind the door spamming his AE at the base of the door does lots of damage.
