I *don't* sit in DS, I'm using it as you describe (which is kind of lame in a way, given how it's our class mechanic)
I've tried the power build, and it's crap. It doesn't have any burst either, and the damage isn't noteworthy. Also it's from extremely limited range (axe), or the projectiles go at crawling speeds (staff).
Necro support builds are worthless compared to what basically any other profession brings. I don't know why you'd want a necro if you could have like elementalist or engineer healing (or otherwise supporting).
If the conditions were actually dangerous it woulnd't matter that they can be easily removed. Alas they're usually pretty much harmless*and* can be easily removed. I consider myself lucky if I can get few stacks of bleed on a single target for epidemic before it gets removed. Even when I get awesome stacks of bleed and other conditions going, the damage is nothing special (and again, easily removed, and not bursty).
Basically the only time I feel like I'm playing a remotely useful profession is small encounters (between 2 to 8 foes or so), and even then a mesmer could be insanely more effective (any class really, but)
Bold for being opposite to the truth.
Seriously, if you can't make it work then try another class.
Do tell how you can do anything noteworthy as support necro? Besides healing opponents, which *is* an unique thing only necros can do. Oh, and also copy conditions to yourself out of sympathy, I suppose. Share the misery and all.
There's no way I can see necro can work in any role, compared to what other classes could do. You can be kind of useful, but any other class can be actually good. Besides rangers, they seem to be similarly sad, but I've only played against those.
The dungeon does not give event completion rewards on subsequent trials (even if you do them on an alt) and will not be available after act 4.

Ha, try being a guardian. At least you can help out during the jump puzzle.

1) Your first time, you get the 10 slot bag and a big reward. Subsequent times, no matter which character you do it on, you only get some ToT bags and some halloween crafting mats.
2) I've run it on 3 characters so far, and all can open the chest for sweet rewards.
Unknown:
1) Does running it on the same character more then once still let you open the chest and get stuff?
Girlfriend and I spend an hour getting him down to 50%.
...then everything disconnects. God dammit. I actually took time off work for a couple hours to get to do the event thing.
O.o
How did it take that long?
I did it duo with a lvl 13 and finished entirely in like... 35min?
Mesmer and ranger, and I think it was tuned to be for five people or something, because killing one enemy would take us like, two minutes of constant beating on it.

Yes, you can open it multiple times with the same character.

Well, we broke the game, apparently. I still had a blast running the Mad King dungeon thingy, even though my guardian's only in his 50's. No good loot on the two runs I went on, but it was fun.
After hearing so much about how tough dungeons are, I was a little scared to try (I haven't worked up the courage to try any of the regular dungeons yet) but it was not bad. Having 3 of us getting feared off the bottom island thingy was pretty funny.
going to run it a few times once the server comes back one, did one run already got trash, one guy got the Crown. Saw another one where a guy scored the Arachnaphobia bow.
I'm kind of disappointed that I managed to miss the Mad King's appearance. Somehow I had no idea that there was a one-off event. Maybe I should have seen something, but I don't think that was communicated clearly enough.

This is all you missed, and when I saw it the mad king popping out of the hole was not there... didnt see him until i watched the youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omc1PwSxnRw

I'm a mesmer too and my partner was a warrior with 0 traits ( he hasn't used any of his points yet because he's a weirdo)

Yeah it is a minor thing of course, but really, if they are going to do one-off things, everyone should be aware of it ahead of time. Apparently they talked about it on Facebook/Twitter? What about people who don't use those?

After getting to near level 70 with my Ranger, I realised I've been running the same longbow/shortbow peircing build for the whole game aside from when I was unlocking weapon skills at the start. I decided to have a change. I got myself a nice torch and axe, and specced into skirmishing.
Why was I not doing this before? It's like a pyromaniacs dream. Throw down a bonfire, stand in it, and throw flaming axes at everyone while enemies burn around you, throw your torch at another and set them alight, and when they all decide to mob my pet, throw aflame trap at them, which is basically an incendiary bomb combo field.
My one gripe is the basic skill attack speed is a tad slow. But with the amount of crits that come up when specced that high into skirmishing, I can forgive the lower rate of fire.

It's also annoying for people not in that time zone. Since they didn't think it was worthwhile giving Oceania its own server, we have to play around 12 hours out. So primetime for you guys in these events is like 4am for us. For those of us with jobs, it makes it hard to see these one off events.

And for those of us in school who had a class today, we couldn't be part of it either. ;-)

12pm to 3pm is not really primetime - euros got the best slot here. But keep in mind that in the future, one offs like these will give you no disadvantage for missing them. They have to happen at one time or another, and the only reason you should be there is for the sake of being there - nothing extremely special or cannot-missable will happen for these events.

It's not really a true one off event either. The cinematic was a one off event, but once I got done in the dungeon and back to LA I saw the Mad King pop out of the hole again live. It was the exact same thing as the cinematic but not as a cinematic. I assume that they are just going to have him periodically pop out of the hole, go RAARRArrRRR and then disappear again until the event is over?

While I heartily encourage you to try the other dungeons, just be aware the Mad King is nowhere indicative of how the other dungeons play, explorable mode in particular.

It was very fun! For some reason when I went in with my party we didn't go in as a group so I ended up soloing him.
Protip: Dude can be feared for great hilarity.

Inadvertently jumped in solo during the initial mad rush and slogged through it, but the second time with a group was very fun.

Couldn't join any other groups or anything. Was busted, so we just went with it.
Yes, you can open it multiple times with the same character.
