Modding community

Good evenning, friends :)

I would like to polish my 3D modeling and texturing skills by helping a modding community, but I don't actually know any.
Could you please suggest some to me?
I would like to learn (and hopefully, help) about the process of creating a mod, or even an Indie game.

I'm experienced in Softwares like 3DS Max, Zbrush, Photoshop and illustrator - so I think I can work my way around if they give me something to do.

Thanks for your attention!
Peace.

Probably your best bet is to make items for TF2/DotA 2 because that way instead of making a lot of stuff for mods that will never get released, you can get instant feedback from the Internet (Polycount is a great place to hang out for this sort of thing, as are Game Artist and to a lesser degree Mapcore). If you really want to work on a mod... well gee, this is pretty awkward. Used to be, mods were a dime a dozen and you'd have trouble fighting off all the mod teams that wanted you. Now I don't even know where you'd go to find a mod to work on, aside from ModDB or those sites I already linked. You could also head over to TIGSource and offer to help out there.

You might want to look into what's possible with the Skyrim Creation Kit - they have a pretty robust modding community, but I don't know what 3d modeling is possible within its confines.

None at all. The Creation Kit is for putting 3d models into the game once they are already made, and that's a shitty route for practicing your skills because getting a model into Skyrim is a pain in the ass. You can sometimes find modders who want someone to make models for them, so if you hang around the Skyrim modding forums that might work, but a lot of people will probably want models ready to use, as in already set up in the engine. Which is a pain in the ass.

    Thanks for the suggestions, people!

ModDB was exactly the kind of place I was looking for!
