A question about this fancy loot system that's going on in LFR now. Can anything potentially drop, regardless of spec? Like, can tanking plate drop off any of my rolls if I'm in a DPS spec, or do I have to actively be in a tank spec to see tank loot?
I have yet to get spirit leather in any of my runs... but then again I havent got much agi leather either.

Ah good, got the Pandaren Fishing Spear restored :P Think that was the fastest I've ever seen a GM respond to my ticket :P
Side note, having today off has yielded like 5 rare treasures now, including the caster dagger from Dread Wastes that I wanted for my Druid. So that is kind of fantastic :P

Currently you only get loot for the spec you are. Sha was giving random spec rewards at one point but that's been fixed.
They said, in response to a players idea at one point, that you should be able to choose a loot spec that is potentially different than the role you go in as; that it was 'interesting'. We'll see if anything comes of that.
But yeah, as of right now, if you go in as DPS you'll only get DPS gear, etc.
Apparently there was an issue with the varying hotfix nerfs to Garalon LFR, and Crush will have the intended 30-second Crush cooldown after the restarts tomorrow morning.
My guild had an off-night last night. We were missing 3 people, so we had to scrounge together what we could for Wind Lord attempts. It was all pretty cursory.
Tonight, we had people actually show up, so we went back in... only to find that Wind Lord is bugged. Sometimes he'll gain Recklessness, sometimes he won't. More often than not, he won't. We managed to get him to 30% with only 1 stack, so it would have most likely been a kill if he was actually functioning properly. Sigh. I swear, the game doesn't want us to progress.
Still though, I wonder what could've happened between yesterday and today that horribly broke the boss.

There, now done with all Panda reps (also finally all heroics since I'm a slacker and RNG hates Scarlet Halls I guess). Wow that Kite mount is ugly as hell.
Last week we've had one person person go missing, which means taking a step back on learning Elegon. Then tonight our priest had to drop. It's all legitimate excuses to be absent, I just wish we were done with Vaults before it started cropping up.
Garalon on normal is such a fucking weird fight. Pheromone trails everywhere. I was the person carrying the pheromones when the boss died and I don't know how anyone other than a mage would do that. I got hit once by swipe and cauterized it, then blinked out of a second and then died to a third just as the boss died. How the fuck would anyone else deal with that?
On that note, Blade Lord is WEIRD. We're hitting the enrage timer at about 20-30%, but that's because we're terrible and missed like 3 heals near the start. Mage DPS is ridonkulous for the fight because lolcombustion.

Assuming Pheromones on normal act like they do on LFR, if you're getting hit by swipe as the pheromone holder then either you've messed up and are in the wrong place (it's more important to not get hit than to have a nice pretty pheromone line) or the dps has and isn't getting legs down fast enough. If he's faster on normal or something else is added to make it so getting hit just becomes impossible to avoid, then ignore me.
Speaking of LFR though, when I was in there the tanks were getting destroyed by the trash before the first boss. Is there anything special to them or were the tanks just terrible?
The tanks ARE getting hit by swipe. This is at about 10% and below where there's not much space to move because pheromones are over all the walls. Our DPS was a bit lower than it could have been since we were running one of our healers as offspec dps so once it got to that part of the fight there were pheromones all over the place. Combine that with the problems that we had swapping pheromones where we could stand next to each other for 6-8 seconds and still not swap the pheromones before it swapped back and forth, putting massive pressure on our healers and occasionally killing a DPS because it pulled 2 crushes in a row, and you get the problems we had. We eventually killed him, but fuck that fight.

Yeah those trinket nerfs are bullshit. It's not as if they're cheap/quick to make. Yes, I know you can upgrade them via VP, but now you're basically putting them back where they were.
That's particularly annoying as I just blew about thirty or forty thousand gold this past week getting the healing and caster dps trinkets.

Wow. Hopefully that's just a tooltip change because if it isn't, and that was indeed just a means to draw people into farming VP to upgrade their trinket to back to what it is today, that is just awful. Holy shit.

Yeah I haven't used a deck since the Maelstrom deck on my warrior years ago. They seem like they're more work than they're worth, to me.

They're usually BiS trinkets for the first tier of raids, sometimes even afterwards depending on your spec. I've used them every time a new set has been released, going back to the Greatness cards. Ah, good times.
Funnily enough I had the Niuzao trinket literally fall into my lap a few days ago. Guildie crafted it for himself but then decided he didn't really want it, so he threw it to either me or our other raid tank, and I won the catch.
I dunno, an 8000 boost when everything else around that level is about 3000? Makes sense to me to drop it. I just hope they're not also removing the stamina.

I used to actively create the Darkmoon decks for my alts while leveling (before heirlooms); the BC and LK decks I never bothered with because Cata had dropped and I was already getting comparable quest gear while I leveled my alts up to 85.
Now? I would really like them, there is no doubt, but the restrictions in place to craft them are heart breaking.
Even with upgrade paths removing the static stats means they will only still have the on use if it follows the way they have shown the upgrades... Hmm I might have to copy my monk over and see what the deal is with the upgrades on it. On use with no static stats=no thank you. Even if it is a 1min CD.
I think the stats being lowered on the Darkmoon Decks was because they were ilevel 476 with the budgets of a 496. Even so, since they have been live for so long, it might have been a case to simply keep it.

All in all, I really do like this expansion, but this current patch has been exceptionally cruel with it's pendulum swing to mechanics.

On a side note, PTR changes are becoming slimmer and slimmer. Release candidate soon?
The latest build is a release candidate.
At this point it's just a question of whether we'll see it on the 20th (less likely) or the 27th (most likely). Still, that's a significant time in development for a patch with no raid or dungeon content.
Hopefully I'll get as lucky soloing those raids for my tier gear as I did re-farming my dungeon 3 set this weekend. Got the whole thing farmed in two days (allowing for Heroic resets for the matching boots and belt). Wish I'd had the kind of luck when they were relevant. Never did get those damned gloves back then.

Historically, the Darkmoon trinkets have also had higher stat budgets than of their stated ilevel. It's why they tend to be BIS for a raid tier.
Yeah plus according to WoW Head it looks like they are removing the static stats. But I cant seem to find the details entry. The actual entries for the Relics show that they are just the on use now though.
That makes them pretty much awful. My current int trinket gives me almost +1000 int straight up int, as well as the proc. If they are also removing the base stats, why the fuck are the nerfing the proc? It's not even an on use unless you use the tanking trinket. It's a proc, it's ridiculous.
A small PTR patch hit servers early this morning, but with an important change--the procs on the new Darkmoon Trinkets have been nerfed. All of them retain their base stats, but the stat procs are down to 2682. These new values are reflected on our PTR database.
