Hoooley shiet. I just solo'd two ravens, an atlas, and some other mech, using an atlas with 4 mpls and 2 machine guns to win a match. They were mostly intact before I started on them. The atlas and remaining raven actually ran away and tried to cap after the first raven exploded, I stripped the atlas of his right arm, and had the other raven down to no armor anywhere.
There was no escape. 5 kills, 1100ish damage, and god I wish I had fraps.

You're better off dropping the machine guns for an extra heatsink. 4mpls seems awfully light in weapons for an Atlas. Unless I'm reading your post wrong?
What's your engine? I had that fit with the UAC/5 comfortably at full armor and without Emma Stone.
It's the STD 200.
What's your build? Does it run hot?
It runs hot if I alpha strike, sure. I know I had less heatsinks than that. I would fire the AC and lasers as I got close, then streak it up at point blank, not using the lasers. Right now I'm using an AC10, SRM6, and 2 mediums, and that's treating me pretty swell right now.

Alrighty, I've downloaded and installed this mess. I'm currently playing random matches while I learn the controls, but I plan to hit the vent server before long. I've added myself to the spreadsheet.
I plan to bring the same striking level of incompetence that I've learned from Merchi in EVE.

Learn the controls with us in Vent. Much fewer deaths and less frustration, more friendly pointers, and we don't mind noobs.
Especially noobs we can use as shields...I mean mold into respectable mechwarriors!
Seriously, joining the Vent groups was the best decision I made for my enjoyment of this game.

Yeah, I know PAers are insanely newbie-friendly; it's how I was able to tolerate EVE. I'm mostly procrastinating on installing Vent, configuring everything, and dealing with the inevitable frustration when it just won't fucking work because of some hardware driver fuckup somewhere.
To be honest I was expecting Mumble--seems to be the way of the future.

Also 2 LRM20s. They helped with the rest of that enemy team.
But the machine guns are fun, and I've already got 8 DHS + engine sinks. I don't overheat.

Joining the vent will also help with earning C-Bills. I can't remember who said it but if you're a light or brawler mech pick an assault and stick with them. Keep lights off their back and fire on what they fire, you may not get many kills but at least some component destruction bonuses. When all else fails stick with the group. Lonely mechs are dead mechs.

This also applies to LRM boats. As an LRM boat (with awful aim with lasers) I love having a brawler near me that can cover me when their lights try to keep me from 'boating.
So I found out it is possible to play this game on a tethered mobile device. Now if only Comcast would get around to fixing my internet, I wouldn't get that 150 interspersed with that delightful 4000 ms ping.

4 Missile 4 Energy hardpoints?
*SWOON*
me want!
i was going to put dual SRM6s in my C4 anyhoo...
I mean, it doesn't say there's any lasers, but it's a custom C1 with 4 missile hardpoints, and the C1 comes standard with 4 energy hardpoints, so one would think.
Personally I'd love a Cat with 2 of each hardpoint. 2 Energy in the CT, a ballistic in each torso, and a missile on each arm.

I'm having incredible problems with my crappy AT&T DSL right now, so I can relate. Getting a consistent 800ms ping to google.com
I want to shoot internet robots, but AT&T doesn't want me to
Tethering to my cell phone is starting to sound better and better.
How do streaks work in game? Do they require a lock to fire like LRMs? Or do they just seek, or what?
They won't fire unless you lock.
Right now, when they do fire they hit center torso. Apparently that's not working as intended and they're supposed to be able to hit different parts of the target.
So, the Streak cat that mounts 6 of the things is particularly nasty since that's 12 SRMs a volley hitting your center torso. Kind of like an AC/20 that can't miss.

There's also a bug that causes them to ignore which way your launchers are pointed and launch straight at the target if you fire them while jumping, and apparently it causes them to hit the head sometimes.
That's apparently why streak Cats are hopping all the time.

ultimate lag shield?
If it's anything like it is for me when my ping spikes that high, it's less ultimate lag shield and more endless teleporting into buildings.
I joined Vent and got into my first game with y'all. During the countdown, I unknowingly unplugged my network cable while messing with my headphone wires. So I disappeared from the game and the Vent channel right as the game started. My betrayal was accidental!
IDENTIFY MISSILE BOATS RIGHT AWAY. If you're a scout, target finding is your #1 priority. Walking into 3x LRM boat traps because no one pinged them is not fun.

I'm so glad we found a suitable name for endo-steel
it's called the Hunchback

The difficult one is DHS. I'm still stumped on that.
Tough if it has to be a celebrity. If not...

Had the black screen bug, and he coached/guided me to a 4 kill game before I was cored.
Key to success: Get pissed off, put on fight music, laser EVERYTHING.
It's less the mech and more just the Streak 2s being retardo good and the heat issues making Gauss Rifles more awesome than they should be.
Yeah, pretty much any mech sporting 3 or more streaks is just a bullshit machine. It's the weapon, not the mech.
