Man I am so close to saying fuck it and loading up my A1 with SSRMs w/Artemis and a BAP and just selling my soul outright.
Don't even need the Artemis, it does nothing for SSRMs. I say join the LRM brigade though, and make sure you're fast enough to maintain that gap while they chase you across large open ground like the tactically gifted pilots they tend to be.
I always find myself gravitating toward whatever is the strongest counter for the FotM...
also, babys sleep schedule is grossly out of whack right now. She hasnt fallen asleep till after midnight since shes been sick.
Similar situation here. Baby is waking up every hour or so. Totally unpredictable. So I am only soloing for now until his sleep schedule is more settled and I have more time.
BTW, for all you guys that keep saying to shut down in front of a streakcat; can't you dumb fire SSRM anyways without lock?
yep yep. currently farming up my C4 to unlock the rest of the elites and getting cash for a cataphract 1X. although at this point i may as well just play the C4 till the FPS issue is resolved.
Unless they fixed Artemis, it still affects SSRMs. It did initially. At least, it wanted to add an extra ton/crit to my SSRMs when I considered putting Artemis on my A1 last time.

It adds the ton and crit yes, which is a bug, but it does nothing to improve SSRMs themselves, especially in thier current "always hit the CT" form.
Yeah, that was actually only from the initial purchase attempt. If you freed up the phantom tonnage it thought Artemis would add and bought the upgrade, you'd go back to your mech and find the SSRMs unmodified. Artemis hasn't ever affected SSRMs in matches (they were all supposed to hit 100% anyway in the first place) but that bug was a little confusing.
I wouldn't have been surprised if Piranha found a way to make a bug that had Artemis boost the SSRM hit rate to 125% but we lucked out for once. ;-)

Dunno how I feel about dual AC/20 Cats in terms of balance. They're slow with a fairly short range, but they still have a huuuuge advantage in close quarters which is something like 90% of the combat right now. I'm definitely inclined to put them in the "overpowered" category, but it's at least possible to escape them or deal with them, especially if there's a scout pointing it out so people know to take it out early. Not as OP as Gauss Cats (and obviously nowhere near as OP as Streak Cats, but that goes without saying), but just like a Gaussapult, the imbalance is from the chassis, not the weapon. Heavy mech armor, huge ears for free protection, massive torso twist radius, and ridiculously slim side torso sections that get hit a fraction of the time as the rest of the mech just make for something inherently unbalanced.
Still, coping is at least possible as long as you don't have to face one solo in a slow mech. And AC/20s get the worst of the crappy lag issues, so that helps balance things out a bit too, albeit unintentionally.

I'll probably be playing again this week some. I get back from vacation Tuesday, and I *think* I'll be all caught up with work. Was pulling 80+ hour weeks recently, coupled with how fucking annoying these patches have been has had me want to do anything but MWO with my spare time.

an LRM20 + Artemis boat C4 on a halfway ok team still completely wrecks shit. Gonna ride this puppy till the FPS problem is fixed or they nerf the free ammo.

I only pull that out when Im running with the Oosik for that reason. That being said..... I killed 3 lights that were directly attacking me with well aimed AC20 shots, and killed another 2 with the 4 medium lasers I brought for the purpose.
That being said you are slow and any really good jenner pilot should make cheese out of you. They just have not so far.

I had to twist all the way to the left to track him and I thought, "what the hell" and fired off my AC/10s expecting the convergence to go haywire and send the shots nowhere near it. Instead, the shots were exact and both AC/10s hit the Jenner's leg, legging it instantly.

i havent put endo in my guy, but i do use DHS and 2 MLasers. i doubt id want to carve out another 4-5 tons for streaks + ammo. i cant brawl at all. the lasers are enough to stay back and plink when im out of ammo as well as deter some lights. if a good light pilot gets behind me, im screwed anyhoo since spinning trying to get him tanks my fps. so the weight is better spend on the LRM 20s and lots of ammo to lob down range.
finally unlocked speed tweak and i go a blazing 53 kph!
had a funny match last nigh.
loaded up on forest, which is even worse than my usually bad FPS. so i made a bold announcement to everyone i was a free kill. one of my team mates jumped my shit saying that if i didnt fight he would kill me himself. i said hang on there tough guy and told him i fight to th death, even if i do get 4 FPS. he apologized and i got mucho sympathy for my performance problems. the icing on the cake was getting 4 kills and winning the match.
Well, I've reached the point where my Cataphract is no longer interesting, but I don't have the cash to buy another variant yet.

Yea I definitely purchased the wrong Cataphract mount. I'm rocking 2 AC/10s, 1 ML, 1 LRM5, & AMS and would much prefer like...3 more MLs instead of the missiles and AMS.
I don't think it's been mentioned here yet, but UAC5s no longer jam when not double-tapped. The jamming percentage is now stupid high for the double-tap (25%) but I feel like they're totally viable again.

Load caustic with 4 PAers just now and immediately tell the match, "Alright guys, 1 guy go caldera to scout, everyone else 3 line." Watch as us 4 go 3 line and...all the pubbies go caldera. Not only do they go Caldera (on defense mind you, they had setup) but they also run into the enemy team. Our pubbies at this point did consist of 2 Atlas and other heavies as we're trucking our way along 3 line in 4 Heavies.
Every single pub died. 2 Pubs had no damage while the other two had sub-100.
We won that game. They were in sufficiently heavy mechs that it took the enemy team too long to go from Caldera to our base before the 4 of us, having spent ages walking along 3 line, backcapped their base.

And ammo cost is 0 for me now? This is with ac10 and 3 x ssrm
If you have ammo tons in storage your reloads will consume those first.
So thats why I always seem to have a ton of "free" ammo when I switch around weapons in mechs!
