If only they didn't then decide that they were going to tie everything to fucking faction rep and the only way to get said rep to gear up for raids is to do 40 dailies a day.
The dailies really aren't that bad in retrospect, especially now that they moved a bunch of vp gear to honored. Just do one faction at a time, or as many or as few as you can stomach.
Tillers and Order of the Cloud Serpents are decent to fun dailies and spending about 5 minutes on the farm to plant one Spirit of Harmony is pretty nice.

and I wonder if they will shortcut the next raiding tier with a justice point vendor and thus make rep vendors obsolete

And you can actually get to LFR ilevel without ever doing one daily. My friend has refused to do even ONE of them and basically spent his time doing heroics instead. He got the brewfest trinket and the hallows end ring/helm and was into Raidfinder surprisingly fast
You're 88 and done with townlong? That seems fairly implausible.
Did you skip large swaths of quests? If you have the questing achievements for each zone, you should be pretty dang close to 90, if not very much 90 already
me thinks we need a shaman/mage/other source of bloodlust
also this assumes I'll actually have power at the time
I've heard that they've prepared for the worst up there, but it hasn't got that bad

The flaw in this is that a large percent of the most vocally active dudes who play wow are this kind of person, myself included
