I don't know whether I need to spoil this or not, but I'm onto the 2nd or 3rd campaign level and I really feel like I'm missing something.
Cortana keeps talking about some Infinity thing like I'm supposed to know what it is, and Master Chief just goes along with it, so apparently I'm supposed to know what it is.
But I don't know what it is, so I'm really confused.
Chief asks Cortana what she knows about the Infinity in the second mission, after finding the Cartographer
Hmm, I either completely missed that conversation, or I saved and quit right before it happened, because I'm at that point in the game.
In case you missed it:
She says it's been in construction by the time they started drifting aboard the FUD

I kinda wish War Games had an intro video showcasing each mode. I'm playing Dominion and I have literally no idea how the scoring works. Feels like my team should be winning and all of a sudden "enemy team is about to win" ~.~
On the plus side that game seems pretty easy to get the commendations for. The defense and offense awards come pretty quickly so out side of how ever many wins you need its a good one for me to get some % moving.
Also I was able to unlock Requiem Archive 1 for the shoulder pads but the code doesn't appear to work for the other 2 and I can't seem to find their Cyphers anywhere.
yeah I said the same thing in my earlier post. Chief allows their actions to be dictated for going on 30-40 minutes of game time before he finally goes "umm what the hell IS Infinity anyway?" Maybe he's just slow from waking up, heh. Lasky makes more sense, Chief was familiar with him because of the show story. Now whether they had any kind of contact after that...
And finally, I think it's dumb that they have NO reaction to Spartan IVs considering they had no direct ways of knowing about even Spartan IIIs...

But surely they would have assumed the UNSC would be carrying on building new things, and the Spartans did kind of prove their worth. I guess they're just used to seeing new things coming out all the time. Would be a bit odd if Chief was all "Ooh you're like me!*squeal*"
Glad to hear grouping up is a problem for lots of people, we had no end of trouble last night getting together for a few games and I still can't join BritishDavid in any capacity at all, despite trying repeatedly. Can't even join his party. My NAT is open and I've done all the port forwarding business, any ideas?
For anyone else having troubles connecting to people, a short term fix seems to be going to settings and testing your Xbox Live connection, worked a couple of times for my friends last night.
All server problems appear to be gone waking up this morning, and all 5 Spartan Ops episodes are live. Also, this game is everything i wanted it to be and more. If you leave a game mid way you don't get ANY experience, also, for people wondering Specialization unlock at level 24.
I will try and join you again this evening! I'm not feeling the single player so far, it looks amazing but it just doesn't seem that interesting, I'm up to the 4th or 5th level I think it's where:
I've just met up with Laskey and people
Multiplayer is so good though, and after a couple of hours playing I've settled into a decent groove again where I've been coming out on top more times than not.
The hologram is absolutely amazing, as is the Battle Rifle. Not entirely sure why anyone would pick the other weapons unless it was a really small map (so go assault rifle) or you were working in a pair (so one could use that new plasma rifle thing)

Silly Question... But how do you *watch* the 'Special edition' of 'Forward unto dawn' that came with the limited edition? I goto the halo waypoint website and the 'Forward unto dawn' video section but i don't see any extras, is it just the ones under 'scene selection'? do they auto update to the 'special edition' if i'm logged in? or what?
Also about 'Specializations' i assume they all unlock when i get to rank SR50?
And its at this point I just assume anyone T-Bag'ing is a hologram.
Gotta watch the speed, duration, and consistency of the teabagging so you can fake being a hologram and get some sweet assassinations on people.
"Hehehe, let's kill the teabagger!"
"Nah, just a hologram, ignor-gurgle"
"Bob? Bob?! NOOOOOO!"

I ordered from Amazon.ca and haven't even received the game yet. I likely won't receive it until next week if they hit their targeted ship date on friday.
Played some multiplayer with some friends in a party last night, and had a lot of fun. They were all way better than I was though, so the matches were better when I solo queued. I'm still not sure whether I like the ordinance system as weapons you pick up. There were a bunch of times when I called in ordinance and then died very quickly after that. However, it did seem like I was getting ordinance fairly often, and it wasn't related to kill streaks, so that's nice too.
The game also seems to lack any sort of manual. I guess I should go find a site online to explain a lot of this stuff.
Has anyone who ordered from Amazon.com received any of their bonuses yet?
I got both my Web skin codes, and one of my $10 credits so far. If I don't have the other $10 credit later today I'll email them, they're pretty quick with these things.
The fuck? Or to be more specific, how the fuck does Chief survive a nuclear blast to the head? And where does he go during the final conversation with Cortana? Guess I must've missed something but still that nuclear faceblast is stretching it
I'm enjoying this but I have 2 questions so far about the MP.
1) What's with the lack of maps? I got up to rank 11 or 12 last night and it seemed like I only played the same 4 maps over and over. There are only 3 big team maps? Really?
2) Why does the thruster pack suck in slayer, but is completely awesome in flood? Am I doing something wrong or is that a design decision? Like in Flood it will shoot you super far, but in slayer it's like I farted and I'm trying to fly off my fart gas.
Legendary campaign gameplay impressions thus far (about five levels in) with minor enemy spoilers:
I finally got the game last night, and decided to do my first playthrough on Legendary, since I had beaten beaten all of the previous games on that difficulty already. I have to say that Prometheans really take some getting used to to fight, as you can't really tackle them the same way you do Covenant. They have a very clear support hierarchy, and the Knights themselves are very durable compared to the average Elite, meaning that you can't aim for the Knights without picking off their support first. Otherwise, you'll either get mowed down in the time you have to expose yourself just to drop the Knight's shield, or forced to retreat by swarming crawlers with the flying drones keeping you from finishing the Knight. Priorities for murder (for me, anyway) tend to go Crawlers with Binary Rifles (they kill you in one shot on Legendary)>Turrets>Knights that teleport into your face>Support Drones>Normal Crawlers>Knights that hang back and snipe. God help you if a Knight with a Scattershot closes in on you and you failed to take out its support drone first.
Outside of a single instance where I got a checkpoint with no ammo while I was still learning to fight Prometheans, the game has been really fair despite being just as hard as Legendary should be. A nice touch that I appreciated is that if you die and return to a checkpoint in a vehicle, you always start out with the vehicle in perfect condition, preventing you from being screwed over by having a vehicle on the verge of exploding when you hit a checkpoint like in previous games. The maps are laid out for tactical variety as well. I especially liked all of the different ways you could traverse the forest level, either taking the covered ground path, or taking the more exposed winding tree roots overhead for a better vantage point/flanking opportunities. Overall, I'm very impressed by the designs here.

I can't answer 1, but for 2 its a design decision. They likely made it much more powerful for flood since they are weak and can't sprint, and it suites the gametype to having the flood be able to lunge long distances. As for the normal thruster pack it seems to mainly be useful to dodge grenades and to throw your opponents aim off just enough to gain the upper hand, it doesn't seem really useful from a mobility perspective.

From what I've read -
Cortana teleports him out / folds the hardlight bridge around him as a shield.
I only played a mission or two of the campaign last night (Got up Cortana interfacing with the cartographer on the planet/ship/thing)...pretty decent so far but I'm hoping the story kicks in soon.
Was anyone else fooled by the intro? I thought they went full-on live action there for a moment.
I'm about halfway done with the campaign, and I'm already confused.
I thought forerunners were just ancient humans. That's what I thought this entire time. Now I don't know who they were. I'm also really hoping the game answers some of my questions by the end, like why the covenant is siding with that evil forerunner dude.
Anyway, I've played some of the multi-player, and I'm loving it. The dmr and battle rifle feel like guns used to feel in halo. Accurate and deadly.

Cortana,
Teleports the Chief into space. I believe she was either using Forerunner technology to say her goodbyes, or talking to John through his Neural Interface (whenever Chief pops Cortana's chip into his head, he has a limited ability to share thoughts with her).

The Forerunners are different than humans. Ignoring the books, Halo 4's secret terminals explain more information about the connection between humanity and the Forerunners. So you're not quite done with the story yet.

I didn't get the codes yet as well. I also didn't get release day delivery due to Sandy. The latter I understand, but I'm not sure about the former.
“I used to draw, hard to admit that I used to draw...”
Guess that's what I get for never finding the terminals. I kinda hate that so much of the story is told in secret like that. Oh well.
On the other hand, for a game that so many people play who couldn't care less about the story, I like that the universe itself has this hidden history quality to it. The Terminals are like the Truth in Assassin's Creed, they're there for the story people and no one else.
Also as to why the Covenant
is serving the Didact, remember in the last few games? They worship the Forerunners as gods, and they discover one hates humanity. Why wouldn't they want to join him?

Well, if someone wants to play the game and doesn't care about the story, they can just skip the cut scenes. Or perhaps there could be an option for extended story before the game begins. I just want the story to be told as part of the game, instead of having to find hidden terminals and piece the story together myself.

I agree with this, it feels like there is a lack of MP maps and I also feel like this game would benefit tremendously with a map like "The Pit" or other medium-ish open map for teamplay.
Thruster pack is such a piece of shit right now, in the time it takes to "boost" two feet to the side I can strafe jump four feet and toss in a Gandhi hop to throw off whoever is shooting at me all while either winging a nade back at them or continuing to shoot.
I'm really waiting for Team Snipers and Team Swat playlists.

Sound design-wise: the AR actually sounds like a beast now, I love it
Anyone get the armor skin from pre-ordering at Microsoft's store? Is it a code that shows up on your email or something? Haven't gotten mine yet, so I'm wondering if there's somewhere you're supposed to check.
The terminals themselves were fine and I can get why they used them to tell those particular bits of backstory, as it makes way more sense than having characters stop whatever it is they're doing to talk about their past for a few minutes, which rarely makes for good storytelling and disrupts the narrative flow. However, having those said bits of backstory told in a totally different app outside of the game does it no favors, either. Other than that I really liked the story, and I'm curious to see where they're going with the trilogy.
I hope the next 2 games would -
Feature more of the Didact in person, as there's a lot more talking about the Didact than actually interacting with him, and he could make for a better antagonist. He's also much too powerful to lose the way he did in the ending
