Kenway: "So, do I get my hidden blades now, or...?"
Mentor: "What? No, we don't do that anymore."
Kenway: "We are called 'Assassins', right?"
Mentor: "Yeah, but now we just insult people to death. But only in rhymed verse."
Kenway: "...I'm out."

I would play that game so hard.

If just once during a sword fight someone said to Kenway, "You fight like a dairy farmer." Then Kenway responded, "How appropriate. You fight like a cow." I would love this game for all time.
Except the PC players. You are all thieving cretins.
What's wrong with their PC games? DRM?

DRM - though I think they finally knocked that off, their stupid uplay launcher garbage, and always arbitrarily holding back PC releases because they are afraid that people will just steal the PC version rather than buying the console version.
Holy crap the soundtrack for the game I got with the collectors edition includes all the sea shanties! And one of the sea shanties is the one quint sings in jaws "Farewell and Adieu to you Fair Spanish Ladies!"
I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.

Goddammit, now I really want that. I'm also loving the score music, but I knew it was going to be the good because Brian Tyler makes awesome music.

I wonder if they ever got tired of making AC they could just do a non-AC pirate spinoff, kind of like how the original AC was going to be a multiplayer Prince of Persia game.

Not planning on picking this one up for a while, could someone gimme the gist of the Modern storyline this time, how it continues from 3 and if the Liberation Abstergo console is involved?
Oh brilliant

From what I understand it is this:
You are an employee for Abstergo Entertainment which is a game developer that cooperates with Ubisoft to create the game Assassin's Creed IV. You use the animus to find cool pirate memories to use in order to make the game.

Which is what made me not want to buy it.
Have they totally dropped the whole Juno plot? I know some people didn't like them, but I did.
I'm waiting for the PC release, but it sounds like we're seeing the public face of Abstergo, so I'm hoping we get to see the Templar side of it later on?

This is a silly reason to not play this, as being a pirate is awesome and the modern day stuff seems highly optional so far.
But then again, Assassins Creed 3 pushed me over the "god, fuck both the Templars and the Assassins" edge so quite frankly
getting both a modern day and historical scenario that seem to give a middle finger to taking sides in that clusterfuck is a boon for me.

I don't know more than I wrote, just from seeing a preview of it. I would guess no, since the story for this game seems to just be a meta joke to them now. Poor form.

I don't want to play a game where I am developing the game that I am playing, where all the pirate stuff is simply a simulation with zero worth. It removes immersion completely for me.

You barely spend any time in the modern setting if you don't want to, but reviews have consistently mentioned how well it's actually handled.

Well it's about time they finally caught on. The meta story was always a joke.

Of course then when you have made a series with a bad story you make it all into an actual joke instead of trying again and improving it.
It is obvious that we see this very differently. This is "all previous seasons were actually a dream" territory of terrible to me.

re: modern story: I've made it no secret how much I hated the modern story line. That said I like where I think this one is going.
Yes you are a lowly game tester for Abstergo but there is definitely something going on.

I had that deep suspicion too, yeah
Not yet far enough to be sure, but we'll see.
On an unrelated Assassin/Templar note:
I've killed Assassins, I've killed Templars
Didn't care much about their whole deal and started building my pirate Empire instead
I fully expect this dynamic to change soon, but at least these first few sequences are a refreshing take on it all

Which made me giddy, since that's exactly what a few documented pirates did.
Or do they manage to take it somewhere interesting?
Because right now I will consider paying someone to play those sections for me.
I don't understand what you're saying cause the premise is awesome.
