So I finally got Fire Emblem!
The DLC is really off-putting, it seems to contain a massive amount of content... does the game feel complete without it?
Waaaaait a minute.
Aren't you from Europe? How did you get it already?

You guys warned me... and I didn't listen. But there went Miyamoto to the Mii Plaza. *sigh* Damnit.

I write reviews, though not in english, so I feel comfortable to discuss whatever I like around here.
Recently I have been catching up on a truckload of 3DS games, in all honesty I'm amazed about how the system is shaping up right now.

What magazine/website do you write for?
Also, do you happen to know when they're gonna release the demo? I'm kinda sorta hoping this week.

It's coming with the next eShop update. The 28th of March.

Yessssss, excellent.
Seems like this week's eShop update is positively ridiculous. The FE Demo, Harvest Moon on the VC (extremely tempted by that one; I still own my SNES cartridge but I fear its battery might've died), both Resident Evil titles, Splinter Cell, Harmoknight, Code of Princess, Luigi's Mansion, Heroes of Ruin..
I love how Luigi says hello in four different tones with each direction arrow push. Each direction is slightly more terrified than the last.
Seriously?
The Giant Bomb guys were just saying "hello" in the same tone and were quipping about how they wished he had more voice samples in the first few minutes of the quick look!

Yeah I know. When I tried it once I got the one "hello" then I hit the other directions and he clearly says it differently.
Right is a normal "Hello"
Down is a slightly hesitant "Hello"
Left is a scared "Hello"
Up is a terrified "Hello"
There is no point to any of this, it is just an awesome little touch.
I've seen some talk strewn across a couple threads about this game, so I'll comment off this one. New Super Mario Bros. 2 is a good game. The level design is actually quite good, but the fact of the matter is, it's too easy. It's definitely a fun game, I enjoyed going through it, but the Wii and WiiU iterations are just vastly superior. Add to the fact that New Super Mario Bros. 2 gives you a shit load of coins, means your lives are always in the triple digits at the very least. Ultimately, New Super Mario Bros. U seems like they way improved on the formula while adding challenge and some cool extras (like the challenge mode that I relate to smash bros.'s event matches), whereas New Super Mario Bros. 2 had a lot of retread but with improved level design over the initial DS release.
Try getting every coin and discovering every secret exit, and then come back to tell me it's easy. That's where the difficulty lies. Besides, lives are an obsolete concept, and this game just proves it, but that doesn't make the game easy.
Also, that Impossible Pack DLC is amazingly fun, even if it took me a month to finish it.
You mean every star coin? I do that for every Mario game nowadays, and New Super Mario Bros. 2 was way easier than New Super Mario Bros. U in that regard.
The system update landed while I was in the middle of system transfer. Was definitely a bit worrying when I rebooted my new 3DS XL after completing the transfer then running into an error message that I can't system transfer because I'm not on the newest update. Everything looks to be going okay after updating and kicking off a bunch of individual title updates, though.

It's a tired old complaint, but my God does Brad miss a lot of obvious visual cues and mechanics. How many buttons are on a 3DS?
I'm keen to get my hands on this game, but this week's wily rascal of choice is Booker Dewitt. I suspect my girlfriend's going to love the charm of Luigi's Mansion though (who couldn't?)
Well a guide I checked said it has 25 missions, that just doesn't sound too overwhelming, especially if there are 25 DLC missions! Guess I have to play and see!
How does the spotpass work? Are those different missions sent on a regular basis?
25 seems low but I haven't really gotten through the whole thing. I wonder if it's including all the side missions as well in that total.
As for spotpass - missions, characters and items. They seem to send a handful of each once per week (seems to be on Thurs with the other eShop updates). It's very nice. I think you also sometimes get spotpass teams to show up as I've gotten random people to showing on my world map from time to time without a streetpass (another feature that is pretty nice - you can trade with, recruit or fight another player's team).
25 main story missions, plus around 16 (I think) paralogues, and the ability to randomly grind if you desire. There's a ton of content. I've got about 35 hours in, and I'm on chapter 17 of the story.

Every Star Coin and secret passage. I haven't played New Mario U, so I can't make a comparison, but they hid some of the secret exits very well.
HELP! So I was using the 2 gig SD card that came with the system, but turns out I need more room. If I put in a new bigger SD card, and redownload the same games onto it, do I lose all my saved data?

If you've registered a 3DS XL since 2/14/2013 and register either Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon or Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity before the last week in April you're eligible for this promotion...which is now active!
Trying to decide between Art Academy and Freakyforms... any suggestions?
Waitasec... if I have both Luigi AND Pokemon, do I get two games?
Man, I wouldn't pick either of those unless you have all three other games already.
Well, of course. I figured that went without saying.
In any case get Art Academy before Freakyforms. I don't think people dislike it necessarily but it just doesn't seem like it's worth a full retail release (think I've heard that sentiment around here). And this choice is between two creativity games - why not go with the one that teaches you something that applies outside of gaming?
Eh, I've done the art thing before... kind of fell out of it. I still like to doodle, and I ponder if this will reignite anything, but I doubt it.
I made that mistaken with Reggie's Mii. Never again.
^^^^^^ ditto
I don't remember if it was Reggie, but I did do it with some official Mii. It's a really silly thing to do, and they should probably make it clearer if nothing else.
Which reminds me that I still need to do HarmoKnight... The sad thing is I loathe the game, so not sure what to do.
Where's that dislike button...
Seriously, the demo is amazing in and of itself. How can anyone hate HarmoKnight?
I honestly thought I'd like it more. It tries so hard to offer variety. But there are two dealbreakers for me, the music is ridiculously uninspired and might as well have been "composed" by some kid from kindergarten and there is something about the timing that just makes the game extremely unfun. Yeah, if I really try hard I hit all the notes, but honestly, it feels more like a chore then a game.

My problem with Harmoknight begins with the fact that it's basically a rhythm game disguised as a platformer (though I guess this is true of a lot of auto-runners). But after so many years of Rock Band, having only 2 or 3 inputs feels too basic. So the gameplay just makes me feel like I'm playing Guitar Hero on easy mode, while the visuals make me wish I were playing a "real" platformer.
The controls & difficulty in Harmoknight change significantly over the course of the game, and a lot of levels have alternate paths that produce different "tracks," which is interesting. I don't know what they're charging for it in the US, but I got it for $8 a while back and I think it was worth the price.

Ahh this sounds more like what I had thought. So yeah, there's like 40 missions, which is quite a lot
Ugh...so much Luigi's Mansion last night. While in bed trying to sleep I was having the Tetris effect going on in my head, but with ghosts instead of blocks.
