First of all, Wandering, I think you're just being silly. There's nothing wrong whatsoever with a character having a noticeably darker coat than most.
If anything, it's probably just to make her more distinctive from Apple Bloom while still showing some family resemblance.
It's less the dark/saturated coat itself than the way it clashes with the light tones in her hair. I never would have brought it up if I weren't trying to figure out why looking at her color scheme made me wince in the first place. It's possible it's intentional if she's a designated Scrappy (I believe links to that site are banned, so no context from me!), but that seems as misguided as making a supposedly annoying character annoying to the viewer, not just the other characters on the show (I'm looking at you, Dawn from Buffy). I mean, everyone hates Diamond Tiara but they didn't have to make her actually unpleasant to look at.

I think the problem here is that no one else is finding her colors to be unpleasant, and it seems like you're arguing your opinions on them as fact. Sure, they clash a bit, but not awfully so, and that just adds to the design rather than detracting from it for me. Then again, I really enjoy Blossomforth's color pallet as well, so I might just be insane.
I realized it's probably harder to see the difference if you're at a resolution/zoom level where the pictures showed up on top of each other instead of side-by-side, so I resized them (original colors on the left, my quick fix on the right):
Try letting your eye flow from a light area on her mane to the main coat color to see what I'm talking about. I'm not saying it's completely terrible, it just clashes a bit.
There is an objective difference in how her palette is designed compared to most characters on the show, although admittedly it may not make a subjective difference to most people.
Yeah, she's definitely female. She just has a heavy Brooklyn accent. Rather fitting for her character, IMO. Also, what's wrong with her colors? I get the feeling that if Scootaloo were to be introduced right now rather than back in season 1, people would complain about her colors, too.
[wankery ahead]
That's just it, her color scheme isn't really that far off from Scootaloo's (and her primary hair color is basically the same as Apple Bloom's), except it seems like the version a fan making an OC pony would have come up with, instead of the professionals on the show. Her coat is too dark in comparison to the light tones in the hair, and the colors generally don't flow and complement each other the way they usually would. You have to understand, this is a cartoon where normally just looking at the color choices makes me happy. Not even the art; the actual palette. It's especially impressive considering the constraints of the subtly-desaturated-but-not-really-pastel tone they've established. I wasn't kidding when I said the colorists deserve some sort of award. By comparison, here's a vector of the character someone made that I replaced the colors in with ones directly from a screenshot of that clip, followed by a version I played around with for like two minutes to bring closer to what I would expect to see from the show:
There are further refinements that could be made, but I already like the version on the right better. That shouldn't happen. It's a minor thing in the grand scheme, but it's the second time recently they've made questionable choices on a visual aspect that I previously considered unassailable. (Sombra's full color scheme was overcomplicated and should have used a green farther from #00FF00, but that's another post) I don't really want to notice things like this, but anything I mentally start correcting in my head unbidden tends to stick out.
EDIT: In non-color theory wankery, I really enjoyed this episode analysis on The Round Stable, apparently it's going to be a recurring feature for this season.
Okay, I can see where you're coming from with this. I think it's mostly the odd choice of mane color that makes her palette look "wrong." But it's really a very minor issue compared to the visual assault that was King Sombra. Also, Mayor Mare's horrifyingly fuschia mane.
I have to agree with Wandering. She does look a bit off. It's a rather enlightening discussion too, as I've never put much thought into how and why the ponies are colored the way they are.

snip
I guess we'll just have to disagree, then. Neither of those look bad, but the altered one just looks "flat" to me, for lack of a better term. The higher contrast of the original colors make her pop more, especially compared to how you toned down the highlights in her mane and tail in the second one.
Well, remember that not everyone sees color the same way. There can also be significant differences in the picture you see; due to monitor calibration, display settings, and more. To me, Wandering's changes are a big improvement. Like night and day. I find his version much more pleasing, color-wise. The original looks like tan-in-a-bottle. Too orange.
But I just shrug. It's not going to keep me awake at night.
What does bother me though, is the question of whether this represents a decline in the overall quality of the show. That would be disappointing.

Yeah. It's the reason that I more or less avoid Tumblr altogether. It is not a good place for casual browsing.
What fans going bat-shit crazy for retarded reasons?
Yea, I can think of when Aya Hirano (Famous Japanese voice acress/idol) said matter-of-factly in a radio interview that she is actually a human being. Not only did she say that she in a relationship that evolves having sex with her boyfriend, she, in fact, has had sex with other guys in the past.
This didn't go over well with the fans at all.
How about when Aki Toyosaki, another voice actress (Who is 24) does the same thing?
So, yea, be glad that most of the VAs for ponies are moms with kids. However, when Michelle Creber has a panel by herself, Final Draft still has to remind panel audiences that her parents are in the audience so they don't get too creepy.
(I actually discussed this very issue with Final Draft once upon a time)
Stupid iOS game. I legitimately thought something awful would happen to Twilight when I only had one minigame left to do. She had one day until retirement.
Anyway. I need a Scootaloo, apparently. My Gameloft ID is sighttdw if anyone wants to add me.

I was recently the victim of a driveby heart gemming.
apparently some people got through the netcode wall. I did what I could to return the favour, but I have no idea if the people on my friends list were the ones who sent the gems.

just checked, gameloft names spikenz, agoaj and thepizzaelemental were the ones. Plus! they're still on my list so that in about 6 hours I can send again.

oh, and apparently sending the Gift (at the friend list) also gives hearts.
neat
There's apparently still something wacky about gameloft, because that was almost two days ago. At least I finally got a chest. But I never know who sends me stuff, because it's always listed as "anonymous."

Yeah, I think it probably takes like 12-18 hours to actually show up.

The freckles are a dead giveaway. But yeah I hardly notice the color difference in your post.

More fun with palette models!

Uncanny.
Apparently a bunch of folk were super mad, telling him to go to hell, kill yourself, etc.
Maybe they should have made a rap song instead.
I said this exact quote out loud right before scrolling below the picture to read it.

Do you really want to know? Because I am sure there is a segment of every fanbase that is absolutely this pedantic.
Personally, I think some people get really intense on critiquing the design aesthetics of newly revealed Pokemon.
Same deal, right?

But how hilarious is it that Tara Strong has such a huge fanbase now that MLP has gotten big with young men? Her antics are super amusing to me.
And by that you mean ridiculously awesome. Right?
