Yeah, that's a bit much. Each and every one them is going to run by people who are telling themselves that theirs aren't going to be the disaster Los Pegasus was, financially.
On an entirely unrelated note, are any of them set in the greater Toronto area?

Now why would you want to mingle with bronies in person for?
It depends. Are they the nice, normal, fun-loving people who just happen to like an animated show, or are they the creepy, disturbing sort of perverted people who contemplate the sexual nature of animated ponies?

I frequent a bunch of conventions a year due to living in Atlanta mostly due to being friends with a swords and comics dealer who can get me into all the shows for free except DragonCon. I like the atmosphere and just hang out with friends and only spend money on food and lodging and a bit in the dealers room. I'm a bit wary of going to a pony-only con though but what the hell.
EDIT: Honestly, all we need is 4 major pony conventions a year, and that's it. It's my understanding that there's atleast 37 cons planned this year. That's..... obscene to say the least.
Ya. 37 is an insane amount. The community isn't that big.

I wouldn't say that really considering...

Bring PAX to Texas already!
As far as I know, the only ponycon set in Texas is in Houston, which is a terrible place and also in the middle of the humid hot summer. So, yeah, no on that.

My dealer room friend has been doing shows since 1981 and he'd almost die laughing hearing about the amount of pony cons that are happening this year. Guy knows everything about how to run successful conventions and when to avoid terrible ones.
2 brony conventions is more than enough. Have Bronycon in the fall and Everfree in the spring or something. The community is going to burn itself out and wonder what happened.
Well good thing I am cities away from Houston so I am OK.
- Considering that in every corner of the Internet there is at lwast one community about the MLP thing, much moreso than any other fandom that has been years already stablished in real life and online combined.
I would say the brony thing is actually something of an addiction of sorts.

And really, those cons are for the older fanbase. I highly, highly doubt young kids will go to them for various reasons I won't get into here.
Speaking of kids at cons, probably the funniest thing I ever saw was a bunch of kids hanging around a guy dressed as Slenderman. The kids, and parents, had no idea who he was and just thought he looked cool. The guy in the costume played it up masterfully.

I think I saw an Austin one on EQD's convention list. Also saw one for Helsinki.
Considering it's only one month after both DragonCon AND AWA I think I'll be the only person there. I really want to know what the hell the organizers were thinking.
There's actually a brony in my school and he happens to be one of the top people in our Arts Club. He showed the meeting a video from his youtube channel where he baked a Fluttershy-themed cake.
It was all good and all and he is very skillful at making said cakes, but then it got awkward after he mentioned out loud that he forgot to add her cutie mark in a very giddy manner.
Everyone else just clapped kinda not wanting to be there anymore.

I feel bad for kids like that, Warpony. On the one hand, its good to preserve a little bit of childish glee in life.
On the other, its expression often needs a little...refinement...to survive in mixed company.

Seriously a dead con is just the saddest thing in the world. Wizard World tried a con in Atlanta in December of 2010 with a massive guest list of legit huge names like Adam West and Burt Ward and it bombed. Watching Richard Roundtree sit by himself for hours on end was heartbreaking. It's fucking SHAFT people!

The problem with said people that are avid fans online about ANY fandom is that they may not realize not that many people in real life knows what they even talk about or that they may not feel the same way about it when saying it outloud to the public instead of typing it on a monitor screen.

Riokenn, you need to dye your hair and cut it the same way as your avatar.
If I show up as my avatar, its slightly more awkward.

My general MO for cons is to wander around, smile, be generally pleasant and take in the panels and atmosphere. If I happen to strike up conversation with decent people, I consider that a plus.
Thankfully I've never had a truly bad experience with a con goer and I've been going to shows regularly since 2009. Guess I'm just lucky in that regard.

If they're smart they'd ask for money up front or just go to Bronycon or Everfree NW that are guaranteed to draw a good crowd.

The answer, is yes.

I am concerned about the adults attending behaving even worse than kids ever would.
Which it does happen in certain cons.

Hee hee, funny you mention that...

I am not sure if I want to meet someone in real life in said brony cons after reading profiles like this one.
