Anyways! Yeah, way too many conventions. Its okay to just be a meet-up, guys! Most of these conventions could downgrade into "hey, come by for the weekend and hang out and we'll rent a big room" and do much better for themselves. Sometimes its about having appropriate expectations.

According to the convention website (laspegasusunicon.com), the convention’s contact phone number is 702-860-7927. This same number can be found on the website of the Las Vegas business Curious Critters Creations (curiouscritterscreations.com). The owners of this business are named as Sandi and Eddie Haas.
A simple WHOIS lookup on Curious Critters Creations, however, reveals the registrant’s name as Sandi Edward. According to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency website (http://www.occ.gov/news-issuances/alerts/2006/alert-2006-53.html) “Sandi Edward” is a pseudonym sometimes used when committing fraud.
We are not alleging that the convention organizer, who was named by a Twitter user and confirmed above as Sandi Haas, is involved with committing fraud, but given the bizarre situation and the implosion of the convention, we wanted to pass the information along incase it was worth investigating.
Gets better and better.

It's not that someone else made the decision for her. It's that she wasn't payed to go. The con imploding cost her a lot of money and she was just an invited guest. Her bringing up her son is just saying that she has places she'd rather be than cons if shit like this is going to happen.
Backing away from Unicon talk for a tick, my Fluttershy vinyl came! I'm surprised how heavy it is when I took her out of the box, I could kill someone with her. The thing that annoys me still is that there is only one cutie mark on her thigh, but it's well worth the 16 bucks.
"Invited Guest" means they are paying you to come to the event. At the very least it sure as hell means that for Tara Strong. Likely she was also getting a deal to sell autographs, like she's done at almost every other con she's gone to.
I'm not attacking that part: she's a professional talent and she should request and receive compensation for her work and time. My point is that I hate when people pull a card like "I could have been doing something else!" When they have already made the conscious decision to... not do that. I've worked at nonprofits that have organized events where certain "VIPs" have acted as if we should be grateful they bothered to come and speak after we, you know, paid them to do it.
I understand her frustration but I find it to be a very cynical and sympathy-playing line and that's grating to me. She already chose to miss a personal event to go to this Con. She's not angry that she "missed her son's tournament;" she's angry that she didn't get paid.
Anyway, not looking to create like, a HUGE fight about it. I just think it's playing an unnecessary sympathy card because a professional business arrangement went bad.

Is your Derpy shiny? I want to say Funco upped their quality with Fluttershy and Dr.Whooves, they have a glossy coating making them out shine my Derpy figure.
I want to say it actually looks better. You have to see it in person, I like shinier Fluttershy. What I am trying to say is that I hope they do a third version of Derpy with the glossy finish.

Once upon a time I was "in the loop" of the business side of the Brony thing. (When I was dong interviews at Everfree Radio and such). I was doing a little off-the-record conversation with someone who was expressing concern with one of the "big cons" and how the money was being handled. It was floated back and forth at I should pull a Robert Khoo and help with the finance side of the con to make sure cash was flowing right...
I noped my way right off of that topic and talked about Fluttershy instead.
So I'm going through the MLP:Japanese version thread on 2ch. There are a few things that have come up
1) Futtershy got a name change.
It went from 「フラターシャイ」(Furataashai)
and changed to 「フラッタシャイ」(Furattashai)
Not earth shattering, but it's deffernt than what fans are used to.
2) It's is a dual-band audio broadcast. Japanese on one side, English on the other. There is still debate that the English side with be over-dubbed for kids and will have constant Japanese talking over the English.
3) Chances are almost 100% of a new Opening and Ending theme song.
4) The is a lot of hate on the current voice picks. Cute idol group, but they are not pro voice acresses by a long shot. They already have an anime under thier belt and thier acting ability is discribed as around "Meh" They may not be able to carry the ponies mannerisims very well.
