part of the reason my carnifex usage is down so much is that the level 8 valiant is pretty much a caster weapon

i've been using it on my drell adept for a while

thinking "christ, i'm a terrible sniper"

second later, brain a dragoon and centurion in one shot

(it was a fluke. i'm still a goddamn terrible sniper)

215 round clips are extremely satisfying.

Is it safe to assume that an optimal Krogod build includes no points in Carnage?

  • ElendilElendil Registered User regular
I've actually been wondering about that. Can Carnage set up a fire explosion with charge?

  • WybornWyborn GET EQUIPPED Registered User regular
    edited December 2012
It could, but the cooldown on Carnage is never low enough for that. Ever.

Kroguard should never, ever have Carnage. Carnage is there as a way for the devs to let you know it's okay to max out the Kroguard's essential vanguard skills, which are charging, punching, tanking, charging, and shooting.

nah, carnage is still a useful power, especially since the buff to various explosions

banshee/praetorian/scion you don't want to charge? help focus it down with weapon fire and helpful carnage pokes, which will both detonate and set up fire explosions

Carnage gives you something to do when you don't want to throw yourself into a mountain of fuck and go down instantly.

Don't think this has been linked here yet, and it amused me.

Yeah, it's great for stuff like hacks and Banshees, where you either don't want to approach or don't want to move. That said, it's not worth more than six points.

I've hated the Disciple since the game came out. It's not even just the damage, the four shot mag and reload speed are dreadful.

Light weight shotgun that you can put the massive melee damage bonus on. Run around as a melee oriented class.

    Win!

I experimented with this on my shadow, but found little reason to actually use it over the piranha with the standard melee mod. I just don't need the extra melee damage that much. And on most other melee classes you don't care too much about weight, so you can put it on a shotgun that's actually useful.

Bought my brother ME3 yesterday. He hasn't even finished ME1 yet, but he's going to jump in MP with me. This may get me back into MP again.

so @Wyborn just doubled or tripled my score with asari vanguard so now it's just a matter of figuring out what i'm doing terribly wrong

  • WybornWyborn GET EQUIPPED Registered User regular
Your first instinct will be to play the Asariguard as a weapon class, like the Human Vanguard or the Kroguard.

She is not like that. She is not a melee vanguard, either.

She is a power vanguard, the purest one there is. Her Charge hits like a train, and subsequent Charges hit even harder. Charge and then drop a couple of grenades and you can wipe out crowds of non-armored enemies like a joke.

The Scorpion or the Acolyte are your best bets for good synergy weapons since you don't have a Hurricane, but if you focus on her powers and making them do as much damage as possible she can kill damn near anything.

i'll try to figure out the scorpion a little more

maybe respec when i next get a card

(on an unrelated note, i just got a paladin in my reserve pack (the gun kind))

Found myself in a pub match with 3 other Kroguards (w/ lvl 5 gear); had to bust old Krasus out. Hazard Ghost Geth seemed like Bronze, no fucks were given. We had maybe 2 deaths due to acid rain combined with bomber bombs.

Nothing was more glorious than 4 Krogan in the rain headbutting a Prime in rhythm.

Can't tell whether I love or hate the Volus Vanguard.

On the one hand, I make absolutely dick for points (maybe this will get better as I get used to not getting cover + the new light and heavy melees).

On the other hand, hack objectives now make me feel like I'm cheating because I can just sit there and spam shield boost and win. -kssshk- payday

  • DacDac Registered User regular
Center Hack on Rio is just the worst fucking thing, doubly so with Reapers/Collectors, because Praetorians and Banshees will pretty much force you to move around, making you a giant target for anything standing that can see the center - which is like 90% of Rio.

The only time I break out the Volus Vanguard is if 2 other players are going non-krogan vanguard on a large map (helps to keep up). Otherwise the other volus characters just have better powers for support.

I enjoy the volus vanguard more than I thought I would. Then again, I fucking love Charge, and he has the fastest Charge cooldown in the west.

  • ElendilElendil Registered User regular
i'd like to try volus vanguard as a serious character once

just to see how it goes

If you want the best experience, you'll need From Ashes, Leviathan, and the Extended Cut. You'll have a much better time with the game than anyone did back in March.

There's also the Omega DLC, but it is entirely self-contained and skippable. Not to mention, it's overpriced at $15.

Yeah, most of my impetus to play MP these days comes from the chance to get a new fun kit to play with. Didn't someone earlier in the thread say they would only be around a week or two, though? If they go away it will be a dark day indeed.

As a person who plays this game for the characters, you could argue that about the entire single player campaign

Still better to play than watch, though

I dunno, leviathan felt much more like I was sort of passively receiving the story than I was participating in it. There's a ton of exposition that shepard doesn't really have any input on, delivered as you walk from clickable to clickable in labs. Even at the end (very general spoiler I guess?)
you just kind of get talked at for a bit, then go on your way

Leviathan is great if only for the revelation that Shepard can sprint and charge while doing pizza deliveries. They would have to invent a new Multiplayer difficulty if Hackett sent Shepard on N7 ops.
