Black Sun Empire is a DJ collective who are pretty much completely fucking rad. Extremely aggressive sounding, fast drum and bass with a big focus on the drums. You can go ahead and also look up literally anyone they've ever collaborated with and find another great artist. I swear by BSE.
Also very good are Neutronic, who straddle the IDM genre but are really too drum centric not to be drum and bass.

Bodgan Raczynski's Samurai Math Beats is pretty damn good. Squarepusher is one of the standards, although he delved into weird jazz for a bit, meaning that Big Loada, Feed Me Weird Things, and Hard Normal Daddy is really the only stuff that's easily drum 'n bass.
I have some Spring Heel Jack, but it's too repetitious for my tastes. Same with Photek, although Form & Function has some quality work as well as Risc Vs. Reward. Lots of old Ninja Tune fits easily into the drum 'n bass mold with some more interesting things going on, such as Amon Tobin up to and including Permutation. That also includes Funki Porcini's Let's see what Carmen can do EP and Love, Pussycats, and Carwrecks LP.
A fair amount of Meat Beat Manifesto's Actual Sounds & Voices album would fit happily into a drum & bass fan's collection, although earlier stuff is more new-wave and later stuff is more abstract. And Hrvatski's Oiseaux 96-98 is definitely more on the abstract tip, but is probably the only blatant abuse of the amen break that I can stand.
Lots of other stuff doesn't do it for me as it's just the amen break with the same 2-step based patterrns for 7 minutes with some rumbly bass preset noodling about (and sometimes some old movies samples). But since your thread isn't very specific as to what you're actually looking for in the drum & bass genre, I'd suggest you at least check the above albums out. They're all previewable online, either via emusic, iTunes, or bleep.com, I believe.

Taco Bell does win the franchise war according to the tome of knowledge that is Demolition Man. However, I've watched Demolition Man more then a few times and never once did I see WoW. In conclusion Taco Bell has more lasting power then WoW.
Squarepusher is a great place to start. As someone said, he got a little jazzy later, but I don't view that as a bad thing, his music was just evolving. Big Loada is a great starting place with him. Hard Normal Daddy is also great, but all of his stuff is worth a listen.
The Propellerhead's album Deackanddrumsandrockandroll is good, but it may stray a little from drum and bass and more into just.. dj electronic dance music.
The Venetian Snares. Some people say they're really spastic, but I kind of like it. Songs About My Cats (or something like that) is a good album.
Two other great electronic/drum 'n' bass groups are Autechre and Kid606. Can't go wrong with anything by them. I recommend Confield and Ep7 by Authechre and Don't Sweat The Technics by Kid606. Tadd Mullinix also fits into this sound I'd say, his album Winking Makes A Face is worth a listen.
Some people also consider Dntel and The Postal Service drum 'n' bass, so check them out if you haven't. Dntel is the not-singing half of the postal service. His album is more in this genre than the Postal Service, it's called Life is Full of Possibilities.
I would say Blue Man Group is more pop percussion ensemble rock band than anything else... Not so much drum 'n bass. I personally am not a huge fan.
Finally, I would consider Lamb's first album (self-titled) drum'n'bass. And if not, you should still check it out, because it's just a damn good album. After that one, they kind of lost something, the chick changed the way she sings into this really annoying poppy voice, and the music just kind of lamed out. I could list tracks that are good after their first album if you want me to, though.
Hope that helps. Enjoy.
Edit: Whoops, almost forgot... Does Aphex Twin count? He's incredible. Check him out.
I guess I realized everything I put may not be strictly drum 'n' bass, maybe they're more on the outskirts of the genre, but worth a listen.

Man, you americans really don't know the difference 'tween DnB and regular dance music.
RDJ (or Aphex Twin, or AFX or whatever) has done some stuff in the past that could be considered Drum & Bass. Burt most of it is just regular* electronic** dance, and personally my favourite pieces he's done are ambient piano.

Next time don't post if you haven't managed to read even the subject line of the thread you're replying to.
Also, I saw someone recommending Autechre, who are a lot of things, but very certainly NOT drum and bass. Aphex Twin released a few drum and bass influenced records, but none of them fall entirely into the genre. Drukqs is a really good album that I think everyone should have, but it's a double CD with some really shit tracks towards the end of the first disc and all of the best songs on it aren't actually drum and bass at all. Even the drum and bass esque tracks are more commonly referred to as drill and bass (owing to the ludicrously high bpm of the repetitive drums resulting in them sounding almost like a drill).

I'm not too caught up on D'n'B, but I know Beatmania had a decent sampling from time to time. Probably not stuff you'd come across easily though. The Sampling Masters contributed a few tracks here and there.
DnB is a diverse genre. A lot of it has that hip hop vibe to it, and a lot of it has a house vibe to it. I don't like any of that stuff. I like the dark, aggressive drum and bass, like the aforementioned Black Sun Empire (BSE), Technical Itch, Concord Dawn and others. The Killa Bites collections are good, or at least, I have Volume 2 and it's really good. It's mixed by Technical Itch.
