Have they said if there's any multiplayer in Lego City UC? It should be right? All their other Lego games are 2p co-op. It's kinda a deal breaker for me if it's not there. It's neat that it works with sets though.

Why is Lego GTA a sufficient explanation? Open world mucking up rendering requirements since people can be in very different areas?
It isn't a sufficient explanation. Granted Skeldare isn't in any position to actually have any real information for that, so it's just his opinion.
Technically, you can easily add several players to the open world formats that we see. Programming game engines have come a long way and situations that once may have setup the perception that 'styles' of gameplay eliminate other functionality are no longer the case.
The fact sheet for Lego City: Undercover has always said 2 player local, although the reps at Nintendo and Lego have said that is not included in the main game. Eyeballs at E3 have said that a co-op demo 'mode' was glinted at on the floor and a lot of speculation (since no one can confirm right now) is that the mode includes some kind of collection/mini-game and a hide-and-seek game of some sort using the gamepad.
I imagine Nintendo would be touting the multiplayer functionality due to the ability to hype the gamepad, so it's hard to say what is accurate. We just have to wait for more details.

Thanks for the info mate. I really hope it's there in some meaningful form. I love the Lego games, but 50% of that is because I can play them with my son.
I really hope Lego City doesn't try so hard with the narrative as Lego Batman 2 did. It's just...bad. There's a reason all previous Lego games used only VERY short cinematics with no voice acting.
Did you not see the Shawshank redemption bits in the latest Nintendo Direct? They were fantastic! Clearly this is a game for grown ups as well as kids.
So, guys: Sonic Racing. I'm gonna pick it up on my way home tonight, is Wii U the best version?
I don't think it's a bad version, but chances are the Steam version will be the best if it follows the same suit as Generations (60fps, cheapest of all versions). Only downside is obviously no local five-player and uh...no release date.

I have no idea why I asked this when I could just edit it in myself.
Also, I updated the OP because I can. The games list has been cleaned up significantly, with the "Launch" listing now changed to "Out Now." I also took the time to highlight must-have titles alongside titles worth looking at. FINALLY, I also marked games that can be played solely on the game pad.

I really hope you can play the story mode in co-op, because it would turn the game into an awesome 80's buddy-cop movie!
Slowly dumping the handful of Gamecube accessories I have on Amazon since I can't play the games anymore. Managed to get $15 for my 1019 memory card and $18.50 for a platinum controller.
I found that I was able to access and stay connected via a PC based repeater (I used Connectify) and used that to pull the new update, which has seemingly completely resolved my connection issues (Over the connection that would time out every other second). Or, at least I was able to watch a film on Netflix and pull down Nano Assault Neo (Thanks for the advice, thread!) last night with no hiccups.
I had problems trying to do anything with netflix. It would log in alright, but then I would get a notice telling me it couldn't connect.
After googling a bit, it turned out it was caused by my wiiu having a larger MTU on network settings than then configuration on my wireless router/modem.
Technically, it looks like netflix on wiiu sends some packages that must not be segmented and having packages bigger than the router would handle was causing the problem.
Algthough I doubt it has anything to do with disconection issues, I thought it would be nice to know.

Zen Pinball 2 will be available some time this month on the Nintendo eShop for the Wii U. Per usual, the base Zen Pinball platform will be free, with the tables available for purchase in packs or individually.
"We cannot yet say how much the tables are, but you can expect pricing in line with what we have offered in the past," Zen Studios' marketing and PR honcho Mel Kirk told us. Tables are normally priced around $3 on other consoles.
Wii U's Zen Pinball 2 release will launch with three different Marvel Pinball packs, each containing four tables. It will also have the classic Zen pinball pack available, along with individual tables: Plants vs. Zombies, Excalibur, Earth Defense, Sorcerer's Lair, Paranormal, Mars, Epic Quest, Captain America and Fantastic Four.

I don't know if this has been discussed before, but I'm having a real hard time keeping my wii-u online. I think it's mainly the fault of my wifi router. It's a new belkin model and it has a lot of inbuilt security. So much so that I usually have trouble getting devices that aren't computers or smartphones onto it, like my 3ds, and, well, the wii-u. I can't even really explain the problem, sometimes it connects, sometimes it won't. Sometimes it passes the connection test but will then give me a variety of error messages that mean I can't actually get online with it.
I've tried wifi protected setups, I've tried the workaround involving turning off auto detecting IP addresses and manually doing it all, and it's still really inconsistent.
I tried to add some PA people to friends list just before, and the internet on the wii-u keeps dropping off and back on again so much it would take me 5 tries to add someone. It would work in the end, but it was so damned tedious, and I feel like without the internet we're missing out on a lot of stuff the wii u is capable of.
I'm not even sure how to ask for help on this, but, does anyone have any ideas?
All my other wifi devices are currently able to reliably stay online, so, ugh. Why won't the Wii u!?
I think the most we could offer you are our individual theories as to why it happens, but the issue is so new we've got very little in the way of actual helpful advice. The best thing I think you can do is to hit up customer support and explain the issue, call 'em several times if you need to until you get someone who sounds like they've got a clue about what they're doing. They might not have any better answers than we can offer you, but in that case you might as well tell them you want to send the unit in for repairs to ultimately dispel any concerns. For all we know the antennas might be shoddy or something and can thus be fixed under warranty. I do believe you can back up your saves to an SD card if you wanna keep them safe when you send it in, but don't quote me on that.
I had (have?) the exact same problem. I have a list of error codes at least twenty numbers deep and I finally called Nintendo about... four days ago. They were about as helpful as you'd think with the tier one guy not actually having a complete list of what the error codes actually mean. Tier two took me through all kinds of the basic trouble shooting (When did "Power Cycling" become the term for "restart your devices" ?). Then I called my ISP the following day to much of the same.
Is bringing your console to a place where you can pull the update an option? Were you able to use the Wii U's online stuff yesterday during the E-Shop down time? Mine did, and when the maintenance was over it was back to error city for me.
Sounds like the same problem I'm having. I can sit and watch the download management screen flip from "You're Connected to the Internet" to "You're Not Connected to the Internet" every 10-20 seconds.
If I knew it was my router I'd have no problems springing for a new one as it's 8 years old, but every other device in the house, from my Xbox 360, my mom's PC, my iMac, my iPhone, and even my 3DS don't show any issues whatsoever.
@maximumzero Hm, I may be able to take it to my uncles.
I don't think I was able to use the Wii U online stuff, everytime my Wii U says i'm connected to the internet, I'll get an error code when I launch an app, BUT games like, say, zombi U, still sometimes retain internet connectivity and I'll run into player zombies. I might have also missed the window for this maintenance so I'm not sure. I am in the same situation as you, the wifi router accepts all of our wifi devices without problem (except getting the 3ds online was a bit tricky, it just turned out the router was fussy and needed a restart) but it refuses to let the wii-u online for long, and restarting it doesn't help, either. There's a guest account option, and I've stripped the security on that to make it an open account, and it still won't connect.
@Zephiran My mum has a laptop (the only one in the house except when my gf is here) So I might try using connectify this afternoon after work. That sounds like a good idea. So, you're saying if I can get this update, it might fix up the connectivity issues I've been having? If so, good. I was getting ready to through my super secure wifi router out the window. SECURE THIS.
I'll take the wii u elsewhere if the laptop connectify idea doesn't work. Though with what you guys have been saying, I might get error codes if I try it on another router either way?
Thanks for the help!

Personally, my home network had worked with all my other devices (PC, PS3, Wii, 3DS, and when I'm in range, my phone) without fail until it met my Wii U. Like you and @maximumzero I was connecting and then being disconnected constantly. Throwing the Wii U into the DMZ didn't change my situtation at all and I was unable to retain a connection to any Wii U service (Miiverse, E-Shop, Ubisoft / ZombiU's servers, nothing). I ran through all the suggestions floating around the internet and called both Nintendo and my ISP. Nada, no change. I gave Connectify a go on a lark, and despite using the same network my Wii U retained connection (learning that my laptop can both receive and transmit over wifi - when the hell did this become an option?) and so I pulled down the update. Since that update, my Wii U has worked without the Connectify connection flawlessly and my router / ISP no longer bounces my Wii U. I can't promise it'll work for you, but I can say it worked for me. For me, it was purely the Wii U's interaction with my router / ISP, and to add insult to injury the thing worked perfect on day one when I pulled all of the first updates (NSMBU, NintendoLand, ZombiU and the system OS). After that night, guessing which error code would come up was like having my very own personal roulette device.
As a sidenote; When I called Nintendo, they asked me my brand of router and the tier two lady kept asking me to confirm it's make and model. I don't know if it was a known issue with my model (Bell Canada's 2Wire Gateway Gxxx series) or what, but it works now.
Steam: Litany || PSN: Litany- || Nintendo Network ID: Litany
Good to hear, I'll give that a try.
For reference, my router is a belkin - I can't remember the exact model though.
And yeah, exactly the same issue here, the wii u downloaded the day one update with only one disconnect, but it worked on the second try. Since then? Error code city.
Definitely trying connectify this afternoon. Cheers!

Yes. I am not at home right now, so from memory, you go to edit your network settings, and near the last page of your configured network, there is the MTU setting.
I set it up at a value of 1492 as suggested by some post I found through google (it originally was 1500 and after I found the setting in my router I found it to be 1496 there), but anything equal or lower than what your network is using should work.
Edit.
To sum it up, My WiiU had originally an MTU configured to 1500.
I found a post through google that suggested a setting of 1492. I used that value and got netflix to work.
I then went into my wireless router, and found an MTU value of 1496.

Well, I didn't get it because the people there couldn't scan the bar code off my phone (which I expect) but then refused to believe there was another way to out the code in. They took me to a kiosk or print it out, but the reward zone thing didn't show a certificate to print, even though it showed they issued me one. No one could help me, so I left frustrated and empty handed. Fuck Best Buy, every time I go there it's one hassle or another.

Zen pinball is coming to the Wii U?
CURSES! Thankfully I haven't invested much in the 360 platform, but I kind of hate the triggers because they are too mushy and the bumpers don't feel right for extended play. Plus... motion controls for bumping/tilting. So that'll be awesome!
... $5.76 to pack up my Wii U in a coffin with its 20% downloaded Sonic All Stars Racing and a complete NSMBU disk. I wrapped a note around my Wii U asking them to please try and save the disk and the saves.. and if they do, I'll buy a copy of the last issue of Nintendo power.
I was already going to buy a copy.
I told them I was already going to buy a copy, because I learned how to read thanks to Nintendo Power and it will always have a special place in my heart.

Wow... Uh apparently Ninteno couldn't reproduce the issue so they sent me a new console... With no data copied over. And they didn't bother to contact me first. So I've lost a week's worth of saves and have to redownload all of the updates for everything and reconfigure all of my settings. Bull. Shit. At least the eShop is apparently still linkable to my Club Nintendo account/points/etc and I can us the same NNID and Mii.

Yeah, they probably have some tool that re-flashes the system. If they are shipping back the original system, then hopefully the trip won't damage NSMBU too much.

Is that something that can be changed just in the wii u settings and match it up with your own network? I'm fairly computer illiterate, how do I go about finding out what my MTU is, can I do it through logging into my router through my browser?

Ok finally got my repaired console back
No saves, full system wipe
Nintendo doesn't publish Nintendo Power.
I suspect they're just swapping them out as fast as they can. Is the serial # the same, and which firmware did they put you on?
I didn't check the firmware version to start but it did have me take the mandatory update.
Also because it was wiped I assume, I don't have any of those preinstalled video channels
