The Orion stock is okish up close. The hipfire isn't all that great, but once you slap a lasersight on there it's a whole different animal. It just absolutely slaughters everything in an instant.

As Vanu, we play on Watterson, which is a US East server. We all use the PA ventrillo server (details can be found in the G&T sticky and in the OP), but even if you don't want to talk, it's a good idea to be in that room, since that's how we get/give our orders. Hop in there and ask for an invite.

Same here! I played with a decent platoon, but random Vanu guys kept teamkilling me. And not innocent shit like running me over in a vehicle and stuff, this one infiltrator turned around and saw me running by and just fucking unloaded his pistol into me and chased me down and killed me.
Only had a few regulars come and go , so I ran with the No Dice guys in their platoon tonight. Nice bunch, but just the little differences from how COA runs things made it a little surreal. Still, for a while we locked Esamir and Amerish both.
Monday night is kinda slow...especially after the highs of a double xp weekend.
Which reminds me, I forgot to mention that I'm now off at work so someone else is going to need to step up to the plate of being a regular platoon leader for the next two weeks.

well, i've about had it with pubs. It's Terrible. If I choose a platoon w/no medics, everyone leaves, and i get 4 more medics to join.
I can't get Any suppression fire, or cover, and it's tough as Hell to cert up when you can't get a heal in to save your life due to a: your own team shooting you, b: a sniper enjoying easy points, or b: 5 other healers suckin' up your xp. I Want to be a medic, It's my primary class choice. But these pubs just make me not want to play this game.

Dropping two tank mines right against a stuck TR tank. I ran, they figured out the mines..and kinda couldn't figure out how to get rid of them without setting them off and killing the tank

And I've found that it depends. But then again, I haven't upgraded my Orion at ALL, so maybe it's better with the laser sight, but I think the situation will call for different things. At slightly longer range ironsights would be fine, but at short range if you just need to get bullets going at them then hipfire is probably better.
I use Orion with laser sight and 1x reflex. It is pretty easy to get a feel for when you are are too close to use ADS. In addition, the delay to bring up the sights can get you killed, so if you come face to face with someone just shoot, and the laser sight will keep your accuracy reasonable.
I just want to once again extol the virtues of the VX6-7. It has two levels of laser sight for awesome hip fire, is probably the best weapon for a light assault, and can be equiped to your engi if you have nothing better for him.

Pretty much. My XP gain during the double xp weekend vs the last time we had a double xp spree dropped entirely just because I wasn't playing Engineer the whole time. I was easily pulling 100 certs an hour when I was ODing on Engineer, but this past weekend when I was branching out to HA and some Medic it took me an hour and a half to earn those same certs. For some reason people don't drop ammo packs everywhere, whereas I am constantly deploying them every time I get even remotely close to a fire fight giving me a solid trickle of XP.
Someone (I think it was TOGsolid) was gushing earlier about how amazing an Orion with a Laser Sight is, so probably so.

Seconded. I swapped to the laser sight on my VX6-7 and it's made a great gun even better. The foregrip and compensator just don't seem to do much for anything so I can't really see a reason not to slap a laser sight on everything except obvious things like sniper rifles.
As an LA I use the 6-7 and the Pulsar C, depending on the situation. (Occasionally I will use the Nova for fun or in a tower fight). I haven't been using the Pulsar C for long, but so far the general pattern is:
Pulsar C (2x reflex, foregrip and HV ammo):
General-purpose outdoors
Wide-open outposts
Amp Stations (all areas)
Tech Plants (outdoors)
Bio Labs (roof-hopping in the dome, or during air-pad push)
6-7 (1x reflex, advanced laser sight):
Tower fights
Closed-in or many-building outposts (due to being inside more often, or getting the drop on people)
Tech Plants (indoors)
Bio Labs (on the dome floor, capping points)
I was surprised at how much I liked the Pulsar C after using the 6-7 exclusively for so long, but it is a much better medium-long range carbine than the 6-7, especially with attachments. As an LA, my ability to get into CQC range is also an ability to avoid it, so I can take advantage of both the 6-7 or the Pulsar C depending on the environment and how I want to play. It may partly be due to my personal play style, but I have found myself much more effective as an LA now that I am also using the Pulsar C (outside of situations which demand the 6-7).

There's no wrong way. It depends on the situation and your playstyle. You will probably see more opportunities for laser sights / short range scopes on light assaults and heavy assaults though, as engineers and medics are better served to stay back a bit in the fight and be around for clean-up.
I put the NV scope on everything, all the time now.
-it gives you much better vision of your surroundings than even the 1x / 2x reflex
-it is extremely useful at night
-it shows infiltrators
-it shows mines & C4
I've been spotting and killing lots of enemy mines/C4 with my NV scopes. I died once yesterday because I had a 1x reflex equipped instead of the NV and couldn't properly track an infiltrator.
Picked up Thermal for my HE infantry farmer Lightning and while nice for making close range targets stand out, the short vision handicap is not worth it.

It was quite awhile before he finally explained, still thinking I was hacking, that my appearance apparently kept changing to TR for some reason.
I didn't have anyone else verify that though, so it might have even just been a problem with him.
