The reason why libs are coming out in droves is because ESFs can't stay around to kill them. Flak wrecks fighters. One AA max can pretty much hold a tower. It won't kill them, but it makes it so they can't stay around.
The only thing they need to fix is how XP is given.
To be fair, the Skyguard is still fucking awful. They need to reduce the bloom on that thing's gun so that it can actually hit things at the range it's supposed to hit things.
[...]The really important fix will be to give AA XP for every hit it lands on an aircraft.
These things are absolute fucking truth.
I bought a Skyguard the other day, when it was on sale, and last night we needed a lot of anti-air quickly, so even though I hadn't practiced much with it, I jumped in and started shooting.
The bullet spread on it is *atrocious*; I could only reliably hit things that were moving directly towards or away from me - and even then, only 3 or 4 bullets out of every magazine were connecting - because, with such a spread, how can you ever tell if you're leading properly? I'm talking about slow-flying Lib targets, here, and while I'm not some kind of FPS god, I'm way the hell better than that.
And then, after all of that, I got a whopping total of 0xp, because anyone who got winged just left and came back repaired. The same happened when I was manning the turrets on the Tech Plant? Amp Station? Whatever. The only XP I got there was for repairing the turrets in the first place.
the skyguard's range is really, stupidly short. There's a video somewhere on the soe forums that shows a lib hovering over a skyguard, bombing it. The skyguard meanwhile can see the liberator, but can't hit it with the cannon
I'd really like to buy one just because I've dropped so many certs on the lightning anyway, but it can't be justified at all at the moment
It can hit aircraft far away, it just requires that your Skyguard stops firing the bullets out of its fucking cannon sideways for a moment to actually hit the damn thing.
So someone on reddit has dug in the PS2 files and found some possible upcoming stuff. Who knows which of these will actually be implemented, but it's fun to look at.
besides, you missed me yelling at the vs zerg in allatum last night.
"PUSH FORWARD PUSH FORWARD PUSH FORWARD YOU FUCKING APES!"
then I jumped through the TR gunfire, grenaded the little house used as a max repair depo and promptly c4'd the maxes running out the other side of it. staying alive for the 30 seconds required for the zerg to realize I wasnt getting shot dead from stepping into the biolab proper.
ill have to turn it back on then just for the kicks, doing the launch it was just full of annoying questions, complaints and know it alls.
These days its like an audio only version of wandering Youtube. You never quite know what you're going to hear next.
Also I use it to warn all the pubbies that if they don't move up, I'm going to blown them all up myself so it's handy to have it on so you know to get out of the way.
biolab teleport pads are funny because everybody is always happy to sit in there farming kills, but the minute one person gets out and doesn't immediately die everyone in there is like "oh yeaaahhhh, there's a whole base out there" and they start going out too.
So what I do now is walk outside and grab some relatively safe spot that's in view of the teleport room doors. People seem to be comforted by that, and they run out (and often die, but whatever)
hold your head high soldier, it ain't over yet

Heavy Assault rockets don't require resources or have a cooldown so vehicles with both of those limitations should have some advantage. Are the value of air/ground/infantry resources balanced to each other? I think that is debatable.
Yes, but heavy assault rockets are terrible. I've never died to someone using heavy assault rockets. It's always other tanks or more often aircraft that get my tank.
Magriders are basically immune to rockets, given how slowly they move. Even lightnings and prowlers can run off and repair with ease. A single HA is not going to kill a tank with a single rocket, even if he spends 5 minutes creeping around behind it for the perfect flank shot. And in the time it takes the HA to reload and fire another shot, the enemy tank can be gone.
I think tanks being immune to OKO from infantry while being able to deal OKO with ease to any infantry is quite enough of an advantage already.
Yes, for zero resources, a single HA shooting rockets at a resource/cooldown limited vehicle should be at a disadvantage especially out in the open. If the lethality of HA rockets were raised, an appropriate cost should be attached to them.
Black lives matter.

Sometimes, we just need bodies to clog up the guns in order to push in this game.
One of the ways to encourage people to move forward is to get rid of the whole K/A : D stat, or at least, keep it from the players so SOE can use the metric to track hackers.
People wont try to pad their stats staying in safety, and all but the dedicated hackers would leave after a week becoming bored because there is nothing reinforcing their habit and showing them how high they can get their KD ratio. Not that I've seen hackers recently, I know they are there, but they aren't as vocal anymore.
an uncerted tank can kill infantry for days from complete safety... until two guys with rocket launchers show up, and suddenly the tank driver is in big trouble
my lightning legitimately can own infantry for days (until it has to reload, anyway), but that's after buying the HE gun and spending a thousand or so more certs on top of that to turn it into its single-seat infantry murdercar self
so I feel I'm entitled
plus there's the universal truth of this game that no matter how many tanks you spam at a base, you can't capture it without enough infantry to get in there and overpower the defenders. So I don't have that much of a problem with tanks.
Well, but the thing is, you can drive your tank up to the cap point then hop on foot once everything is pulverized If there was a specialized 'tank driver' class that had crap for attack, you wouldn't necessarily want to be in a tank 'just cuz' you'd try to figure out if you would be needed on foot. If you were, the only way you're getting yourself and all your combat gear would be via foot/truck/cargo plane, not in the extremely cramped quarters of an MBT.
Two guys with rocket launchers showing up just generally means the tank has to relocate and repair a little bit. Just some extra exp for you and none for them, really.
I'm curious what you have bought on your lightning murder car, aside from the HE gun. I am using the stealth system, figuring if I don't show up on the minimap all those great flanking positions I can get in are likely to remain viable for longer. Rival combat chassis is good. (Maybe it's my imagination, but it seems to increase accuracy while moving and more importantly, allow you to aim precisely quicker after coming to a screeching halt)

If I remember right, the base HA Rocket launcher does around the same amount of damage to tanks as most tank's HEAT gun, so two guys with rocket launchers can easly mean dead tank if at least one of them managed to behind it and get a hit off the rear armor, which would take just over half the tank's health.

I use the first rank of stealth, mostly to keep from popping up on aircraft radar as they fly around. In addition to that I have the rival chassis (backing up fast gets you out of trouble), the IRNV scope and rank three of the proximity radar. The radar was expensive (700 certs total), but it'll wind up paying for itself before long. Every infantry within 40 yards becomes a little dot on my map, which means the silly little guys can't hide behind rocks or in buildings or sneak up on me with C4. I also spent some certs on the respawn timer (first three ranks, I think) and on more ammo for the gun.
ed: and I mean, I still get blown up fairly frequently because I made a dumb decision or got unlucky and drove past a manned amp station turret or something. It's still a lightning, but this double exp period I have made a ton of certs killing infantry around crown/zurvan in it.

I have decided that I like being a Liberator pilot. I get to sit still in the air and imagine I'm in the cockpit reading a newspaper with my feet on the dashboard while my gunner gets me points.

Meanwhile on Waterson the Vanu leaders are starting to work together better and trying to coordinate assaults on bases instead of just throwing bodies at them until we break through.
With my in game voice chat not working AT ALL (incoming our outgoing) I'm looking for alternatives that me and a buddy can use to chat while we blow up some mans. What does everyone here recommend? I've used Ventrilo in the past (in my WoW days) but that was a few years ago and I don't know how to setup my own server quickly. Teamspeak is another option, but do I just join into any random, empty server? or how does it work?
Does PA have a vent/teamspeak server that I can join and use?

They really should have xp boosts if you're defending a base or teammate. Like 10pts Avenge Dead Squaddie or X-any action while defending plus 15 pts defense bonus.
They really should have xp boosts if you're defending a base or teammate. Like 10pts Avenge Dead Squaddie or X-any action while defending plus 15 pts defense bonus.
You already get a 15% xp bonus for anything you do while defending a point, that includes kills, assists, repairs, healing, sunderer spawn, everything.
Well, I finally have the second block of C4 on my LA after many hundreds of certs. It's nice!
People bash C4 and I kind of agree it doesn't do enough damage - one block of C4 should be a dead turret, for example. It's beyond ludicrous to expect someone to blow 200 infantry certs to kill a single turret at an amp station.
But I'd much rather have C4 than tank mines for anything except trying to kill a deployed sunderer. If a tank is moving, trying to drop tank mines under it is a losing game. Even if you throw them under neath, if the tank moves out of the way, the mines won't kill him.
Plus an engineer can't fly so throwing tank mines underneath anything is auto suicide. Placing C4 with an LA is often suicide but at least you can fly a bit. I don't mind that 2 bricks of C4 can't take out a deployed sunderer - I'm happy it can kill most other vehicles though. I'm not too sure about the resource cost being balanced compared to what it took to get the vehicle in the first place. Still it's fun to try to pull it off. I'd say I die 80 % of the time I try it but when you can blow up that vanguard it's very satisfying.
C4 you can throw to something that is moving and it will stick to it, which is great. You can also throw it through doors/windows, around corners, etc, and then fire it off. You can even throw it at the feet of a MAX while flying over head and then trigger it off. None of these you can really do with tank mines.
I've actually had a lot more success using my LA to get unexpected angles on MAX and put C4 by them then I have killing vehicles. Vehicles move faster than me so even if they are totally unaware of my presence if they just keep going I can't catch them.
I also like the trick of putting a brick of C4 on the spawn room shield and then blowing it up to hit whoever is silly enough to stand right inside and firing out.
So many uses for C4, I will never have infantry resources ever again.
C4 should be cheaper, not stronger. If they made C4 stronger it would be too powerful when everyone can carry two of them.
As a side issue, one C4 for a turret would be stupid. The game needs MORE defense, not less. If you ask me the base turrets should have triple their current health (but the same damage output). Wall defenses are a joke against any serious attack and most stay empty, to be blown up by tank drivers looking for extra XP.
"Currently, there is a bug in the game that can mass crash players in a given area.

The use of this exploit is reaching epidemic levels on Connery server in particular, and is one of the main reasons I am here posting on the forums instead of enjoying the game."
This does make a lot of sense to me. This past week me and friends have been constantly crashing out of the game at the same time. And most of the times we were just about to take a base or were making a big push. The last one that happened, we were just about to take an amp station and everyone in the area crashed out.
EDIT: I have also seen the exploit being discussed on Reddit.
"Another post here and also on the official forums states that a speedhacker can crash many clients around them as the client-side can not compute/render the updated location. Other theories are server-side culling bugs are dropping out of sync with clients, resulting in disconnects for safety to avoid 'stuck characters' (your character is in game, you are not, and can't get back in)."
Apparently the issue of multiple people crashing at the same time is caused by an exploit. Sssssssssssssssssshocking.
I FUCKING KNEW IT.
I was commenting earlier in game that "funny how everything gets all glitchy whenever DVS starts attacking an area." The hacking problems in PS2 need to be resolved in a hurry, it's starting to get ridiculous. Especially when you're seeing Galaxies fly twice as fast and are just as agile as a god damn ESF. (Which was also DVS).
Was that Airbus101 guy in DVS? (On a side note, that shit was hilarious watching that Galaxy spin around that amp station 2x faster than any ESF could.) I do however, always end up with client issues when DVS shows up. Either it's because their zerg simply puts too much in one area, or those exploits, but things do get wonky.

Yes, yes you can.
I play at around 10 fps, might get 20 fps if I'm lucky and we aren't in a massive fuck-off battle.
In addition you can try:
ShadowQuality=0 (completely disable shadows. looks odd but gives a boost)
GpuPhysics=0 (suggested to possibly improve things for people with a card that is not capable of physx)
"Unpark" your CPU to boost CPU-limited performance (for new-ish CPUs on Win7): http://www.coderbag.com/Programming-C/Disable-CPU-Core-Parking-Utility
At the moment I am using "ultra" settings with the exception of:

KBAM in this game would be fine for flying if the mouse X/Y was yaw/pitch not roll/pitch.
I'm starting to think my Saitek Cyborg is really trash though - I haven't been able to fly worth a damn in any game with it because it seems to have an unimaginably huge dead zone no matter what settings I use.
Gaah. Look, when I press D to turn my tank clockwise, I expect D to keep turning clockwise when I'm reversing too. The tank controls are awful because of this.
