I've always used snapshot snipers, it's about time people will be joining the club. Underrated, but incredibly useful.
It's hard to get excited about an ability that lets your sniper do something any other soldier can do, but worse (snap shot) versus an ability that lets you do something else no other class can do (squad sight).
And the ability to take a shot without possible consequence is like one of the best things you can have.
I'm a pretty big fan of combat supports. chitin armor and combat stims, with the combat drugs smoke field. Though it looks like the deep pockets change will re prioritize that

Ananda Gupta is on the latest Three Moves Ahead talking about XCOM EW if anyone is interested. Hope you had a good run with your squad sight snipers jungleroomx. Evidently the flying tentacled stealthed horrors are in there to be a hard counter against them.
I'm all about it.
I don't play my snipers in flying armor and let them snipe from the side of the map, so I'm not exactly too worried about that.
All of my dudes cover all of my other dudes in some way shape or fashion. It's not the most efficient way to play, and it has its drawbacks, but sneak attacks aren't generally one of them (unless I get that stupid invulnerable chrysalid who took 3 shots and a nade and kept truckin).
Some new info regarding the Mechtoid as well as some miscellaneous stuff:
- Dead Mechtoids provide Sectoid corpses, and a "Mech Core".
- Mech Core unlocks two Foundry upgrades:
> Shaped Armor, which increases MEC and SHIV health.
> Advanced Servomotors, which increases MEC and SHIV mobility.
- The Mechtoid's Psi Shield decreases incoming damage by half.
- The Mechtoid's damage scales with difficulty.
- Killed Mechtoids provide a small amount of Meld.
I lost a really good soldier in my C/I run today, a great Support. I had forgotten to give my squaddie support I was training up a medkit, so she couldn't stabilize him after he took a critical hit. On the bright side, he was the only one to die when dealing with, no joke, three patrols equaling eight Mutons and one Berserker, then a patrol of a Cyberdisc and Drone escort and then three more Mutons a turn after I deal with those.
I think this was the PC Gamer article originally printed for last month's issue, now in online form. It does confirm that yes, they will be taking the time to fix the teleport bug.
One other thing of note is that a former Assault's inherited perk is supposed to make him "more resistant to close combat damage". I'm suddenly thinking that said inherited perk is the "Shock-Absorbent Armor" we see in the MEC Trooper screenshots a while back:
Another thing, if the article is accurate the Flamethrower has "only enough fuel for a couple of sprays". And I thought I could keep roasting everything in sight...

I'd get it, but I don't have a PC, and I don't want to risk getting it for my 360 and possibly having to buy the game again if they have another big expansion.

Ironman is the only way the game is fun to me. the 50+ on save names are a testament to that.

I guess that is mission accomplished then! I don't think you are supposed to be happy with the fact that you are replacing flesh with steel and injecting strange alien cocktails into people.

I like the fact that they make them look inhuman. It adds to the creepiness of the game and actually goes along the core message of the campaign much better.
I admittedly haven't gotten a good look at them, but I see no downside to robotic limbs. I any of you have a high will soldier they don't want to feel bad about making the world's most kickass quadruple amputee, then feel free to pop cB557 in as the nickname and slice those bad boys off.
Well, the obvious downside is having to make room in your base for the Neuropozyne production facilities and needing to buy/find Praxis in order to upgrade your soldiers.
It's too bad there aren't different types of cybernetic bodies. There's no reason for the body, or limbs, to be humanoid.

Eh, if you made changes that bug you'd probably have to completely rewire their brain for them to be able to use the new parts.
I meant no dowside in terms on an individual level, in response to some of the wimps up above feeling wierd about augmenting ther soldiers.

Yes, there is actually. I imagine it is easier for a soldier to cope (psychologically, and physically) if the attachment bears a resemblance to the limb that was replaced. It's easier to learn to use an arm effectively, since it's a 'tool' you've been familiarizing yourself with your entire life. If it was a tentacle, or some kind of multi-pronged extension thing then the soldier would be starting from square 1 when it comes to using it.

You guys aren't thinking big enough. You just have to combine the two a la DXHR Barrett 'Gattling gun hands' Wallace.

Congratulations. You just created a super soldier that can't scratch his own nose :P
I'm probably only going to subject horifically injured soldiers to MEC enhancement. Only in death does their duty end.
In death they will serve the imperium still. Not as mec's but as dreadnoughts carrying purging flame against the xenos.
If only we got those. That would be really, really badass if, when a trooper died, there was a chance of getting a "resource" needed to build a dreadnought.

Medals give actual gameplay benefits and not just vanity-enhancers?
I'm really, really excited for the expansion.
Everything I've read so far sounds good.
Mid-October, right ?

Because impossible is stupid and unfun
With Ironman on, sure. I haven't actually tried it out normally yet. I plan on doing that once my C/I run is finished.

Totally just going to wait for the expack.
Considering how sideways the mission went, and how quickly it escalated, I'm surprised I made it out of there with just one casualty.

October is actually going to be really busy, new games-wise.
I've got the new Batman game pre-bought, I've got Beyond : Two Souls on preorder, and I'm sure there are a few smaller titles I've forgotten about.
Xcom in November is good, then, as that's going to be clocking up a lot of hours...
Everything is the exact same pace except building, research, and all that good stuff.
Fucking impossible.
