    @SaberOverEasy

Out of curiosity, how long until you had figured me out, if the SK didn't get me?

I almost never get a mafia role, so I'm not sure if I'm a bad liar or not.

Never doubt the power of porn.

    Full conversion target list:

    Zombie Hero- didn't convert
    INANTP- Didn't convert
    SeGaTai- Didn't convert
    Undergroundmonorail- Did convert
    MrTLicious- Didn't convert
    Bedlam- Did convert

    Jdarksun- End of game

I thought I had targeted Baidol at some point, but I think I changed my mind at the last moment.

Also, I'd link a proboards, but I conducted business all through PMs, given I was by myself or had 1 partner for most of the game.

Assuran did you kill me after the unsuccessful conversion or was that just random crossfire? We did a pretty poor job of conversions ourselves, Retaba died day 1.
    CesareB-converted
    Tzeentchling-left the game before conversion
    Langly-couldn't convert
    Baidol-Converted and killed

I had no kill powers at my disposal, so it was all an accident as far as I'm aware.

You did fine. Until Owl revealed and claimed the Warban kill, I actually though both you and Sir Fab were telling the truth.

That being said, had the SK not killed you that night, I would have done it the next day. As soon as Owl and Grimmy's kills showed up in narration, I knew all of the other people claiming masterless men were actually mafia.

Absolutely. I was wondering why so many of you would claim it. At first, I thought it was just because you wanted a way to know who I thought was suspicious (since I needed to give you vig targets). After I figured out just how many of you were claiming it, it became a bit ridiculous.

Among other things, the mafia absolutely should have had most of the role PM's available to them on Day 1.

Langly's amazing verbal procrastination didn't help. Dude was so suspicious of me I just had to know what he was hiding.

I challenge to find any game where you would reveal:

    How you survived a hit
    Who guarded you

You keep acting like you had this reluctant person but I told you everything except that. That's not suspicious, you were just lucky I actually was mafia.

Not to mention that none of that mattered because saber was just told we were mafia. There was no investigator needed.
The mafia wasn't missing a kill, so it was obvious I wasn't mafia. So, I guess any game wherein the mafia kills people.

You were super shifty, dude. Plying differently than you have in the past. And that happens, I've been caught that way before.

The investigation paid off. Saber had nice contacts on the side, but there was enough to get you voted out without it. Saber just bought you a few days with the corvidae misfire.

Ah, I didn't realize it was unblockable.

I'd also like to take this time to apologize to @Erich Zahn. I was (I think) the last Cliomancer alive. After warban and Baidol died I thought I was the last one around, and you claiming Cliomancer pinged my Mafiadar (or SK-dar) prety hard. I totally would have split charges with you had I known; in fact, the only reason I got myself into the network in the first place was because I wanted to find the Cliomancers and split up the charges.

Thanks for running the game, @capfalcon. I had lots of fun, the narrations were awesome, and I can now say with certainty: Winning feels good.

This time. No, I basically knew the night after the vote/narration following our PM's that you weren't mafia. I wasn't 100% but I had much better targets than you, at least. I basically came out of this one with no grudges. I can't even really hold it against the mafia for killing me off. I was a vulnerable target who would had the potential to assume your role if they managed to kill you. That's just smart play really, even if they did kinda have a nonchallant attitude about it.

That one wasn't me, though. Or at least it wasn't unblockable. I only had one night during the game when I could make my kill(s) unblockable and that was the night that I took out Saber and Ebum. Something went wrong on your end the night that I killed you, because a guard would have stopped me.

If my kills were always unblockable, Saber would have died on day 2 and I imagine this game would have gone much differently.

    Holy crap, 1) I survived 2) I actually won

I dont feel like I did much of anything. But I guess I avoided suspicious enough to stay alive and cast mostly worthless votes. Never got any charges and never really talked with anyone unless they asked me first. Still a win is a win, and at least I wasnt the last kid converted.

The alternate win conditions were an interesting wildcard. I wonder how many people could have won that way if the game had gone differently, and how many people had enough charges to activate their alt win but opted not to.

How many nights could you have? I was doing the math and realized you had it if you wanted at least one of them.

I even asked Cap if the deal power could like, cause your win power to fail and then you'd die because you weren't honoring our deal.

    It wouldn't have. :(

    The New Inquisition (2)
What do you get for the man who has everything?

Well, for starters, how about his own private army of tricked-out magick-workers and cold-blooded psycho-killers?

Alex Abel put the two of you in charge of New York, and you're not going to be the ones to tell him that you couldn't handle some religious nuts, porn star cultists, and a bunch of hasbeens.

A Cell: The two of you are the leaders of The New Inquisition in New York. You may trust each other.

You Buy Fresh Starts Wholesale: Each night, the two of you can try and recruit one of the free players in the Occult Underground. If they are able to be converted, they will gain your win condition. You will be informed about the results of your conversion either way. If all two of you are eliminated, The New Inquisition won't be able to convert people any more.

More Money Than God: You get a briefcase of cash each night to distribute as you see fit. Since the TNI is so well off, you'll get a second briefcase on even nights. These briefcases will allow your adepts to generate charges to power their abilities. Keep a close eye on your adepts, though. They may not play nice with other adepts like themselves, and they may have their own plans for the money.

    VICTORY CONDITION:

Eliminate the Order of St. Cecil and outnumber the Sleepers and the Cult of the Naked Goddess at the end of the game.

    Sleepers (2)
    The Sleeping Tiger is stirring.

The Sleepers have been here long before the Occult Underground, and they've seen what the normal people of the world do when they see something don't understand. They lose their shit. Witch Burnings, Riots, and Inquisitions are just the warm ups. Sleepers make sure that anyone who shows off their magic tricks ends up six feet under. Honestly, it's just better for everyone that way. And the Occult Underground is content to let the Sleepers police. Mostly, anyway.

Or, at least, it was, until the New Inquisition and The Cult of the Naked Goddess showed up. They just don't understand how to keep things quiet. Sure, there hasn't been a huge blow up yet, but it hasn't been from lack of trying. Now, with the Order of Saint Cecil in town, the Home Office has decided that it's time to put these upstarts back in their place.

Show them who runs this town.

New York Directorate: The two of you are the leaders of The Sleepers in New York. You may trust each other.

Taboos are Nature's Way of Saying Fuck You: Each night, you can target someone and, if they have any magic charges, they lose all their charges.

Threats and Bribes Work Much Better Than Bribes: Each night, the two of you can try and recruit one of the free players in the Occult Underground. If they are able to be converted, they will gain your win condition. You will be informed about the results of your conversion either way. If all two of you are eliminated, The Sleepers won't be able to convert people any more.

Old Investments Bring Tidy Profits: You get a briefcase of cash each night to distribute as you see fit. These briefcases will allow your adepts to generate charges to power their abilities. Keep a close eye on your adepts, though. They may not play nice with other adepts like themselves, and they may have their own plans for the money.

    VICTORY CONDITION:
Eliminate the Order of St. Cecil and outnumber The New Inquisition and the Cult of the Naked Goddess.

Cult of the Naked Goddess (2)
Your life changed when you saw the videotape. You saw the Ascent of the Naked Goddess, and it was the most important moment of your life. In that brief instant, you realized you had loved Her your whole life. You wanted to spread her message and tell the whole world that the Goddess lives and is, even now, waiting to reward her worshipers with power. The Cult of the Naked Goddess had the perfect plan. If the original tape was aired on, say, a national news program, then millions of people would learn about the Goddess, and find peace in her embrace.

The New Inquisition and the Sleepers weren't having any of that.

The original Naked Goddess tape was stolen. No one know who or why, but the top suspects are the New Inquisition and the Sleepers.

Fine. That's how it's going to be? You've got plenty of bootleg tapes. Like most copies, they aren't as clean as the original, but it's still pretty eye opening. Once you run this city, you'll make them see the Goddess' own truth.

Board of Directors for Pagan Publishing: The two of you are the leaders of The Cult of the Naked Goddess in New York. You may trust each other.

The Goddess' Video Works Every Time. Almost.: Each night, the two of you can try and recruit one of the free players in the Occult Underground. If they are able to be converted, they will gain your win condition. You will be informed about the results of your conversion either way. In addition, the Video is so persuasive that it will always win conversion ties. If all two of you are eliminated, The Cult of the Naked Goddess won't be able to convert people any more.

Porn Makes the World Go Round: You get a briefcase of cash each night to distribute as you see fit. These briefcases will allow your adepts to generate charges to power their abilities. Keep a close eye on your adepts, though. They may not play nice with other adepts like themselves, and they may have their own plans for the money.

Porn REALLY Makes the World Go Round: In addition, every even night, you also get an extra briefcase of cash that can only be used by a Pornomancer.

    VICTORY CONDITION:
Eliminate the Order of St. Cecil and outnumber the Sleepers and The New Inquisition.

    Order of Saint Cecil
Demons and Possession are just mental health problems. Monsters are cautionary tales and metaphors. And, of course, everyone knows that there's no such thing as magic.

    Mother Church knows different.

While the Malleus Maleficarum is a thing of the past, the Catholic Church still employs witch-hunters, although the current times require they work in secret. But, that's really nothing new for the Order of Saint Cecil.

On paper, the Order of Saint Cecil is a branch of the Jesuit Order, a liberal branch of the Church already known for a disregard for the hierarchy. In practice, it is the most powerful and influential band of witch-hunters in the world. Well funded and well trained, the Cecilines have an astonishingly high success rate in field operations, exorcisms, and, if all else fails, indefinite containment.

This is the largest operation that the Order of Saint Cecil has ever attempted. Strange signs have been flying for days, and even the civilians in New York have gotten the sense that something bad is going to go down. The list of targets kept growing as more reports came in. Eventually, the final list was made, and the strike team was dispatched.

Strike Down the Devil: Each night, you may kill or kidnap and exorcise two people. You must choose someone to actually do the dirty work.
Shepherd the Wolves:Each night, you may guard someone. You must choose someone to actually do the guarding.
Jesus Walked Amongst Sinners: Each night, you may choose one of you to seer as unaligned village.
Cleanse the Witch: Each night, you can target someone and, if they have any magic charges, they lose all their charges. You must choose someone to actually do the charge wiping.
Papal Archives: The Church keeps very good records. If you give them enough time, they can find just about anything down there. Each night, you'll learn a village Role PM.
    Your starting Role PM is:
    Masterless Man (4)
You've always wanted a higher purpose in life. You've dragged mages out into the street and put them down. You've always moved on before you can put down roots.

And you wouldn't have it any other way.

You see, the world likes stories. In a way, the world is nothing but stories. Stories have heroes and villians, victims and damsals. If you can figure out what role you're playing, the world looks out better for you.

But, you wouldn't be a Masterless Man if you always just went with the flow, right? In fact, you think you're ready to move up and become THE Masterless Man, and what better way to ascend than a huge shootout with all the other Masterless Men? Of course, since the Order of Saint Cecil showed up in force, the Occult Underground just sent out an All Hands on Deck, and they won't look fondly on in-fighting.

Which just means that you've got to be subtle about it.

Always His Own Man: You cannot be converted to the The New Inquisition, The Sleepers, of the Cult of the Naked Goddess.
Wave Tossed Warrior: Attempt to kill someone each night. This many Masterless Men being in one place is messing with your mojo, and only two of you will actually succeed each night.

Victory Condition: Be the last Masterless Man standing OR Eliminate the Order of Saint Cecil

Vatican Gold: You get a briefcase of cash each night to distribute as you see fit. These briefcases will allow adepts to generate charges to power their abilities. Keep a close eye on adepts, though. They may not play nice with other adepts like themselves, and they may have their own plans for the money. Of course, if they take the money and run, it'll make your job easier. You'll find them sooner or later, and right now, it's more important to get them away from the civilians.

Victory Condition: Outnumber the Occult Underground and destroy anyone who would block your victory.

    Cliomancer
History isn't just educational. History is powerful. In fact, history is the only thing that really matters, isn't it? After all, the past makes the present, and the present is nothing but the past of tomorrow, right?

Most people would come to a conclusion like that if they just sat down and thought about it long enough. But you've moved on past this rudimentary understanding and realized the great paradox of History.

None of it is real. We're trying to piece together a jigsaw puzzle and half the puzzle pieces were eaten by plagues or arson. So, it doesn't matter what actually happened, just what people believe happened.

Historic places have power. If nothing else, people all around the world think about these places every day. After a little trial and error, you learned to snag this energy and put it to good use. Of course, every other Cliomancer in the city makes for a mad dash for these charges every day, and with the Occult Underground calling for all hands on deck, you're going to need that magic more than ever if you want to survive.

Cobweb Farms Need Tending: Every night, there are two Cliomancer charges up for grabs. Each Night, you may either add to your preparations or go after the Cliomancer charges. If you prepare, you add one to your preparation. If you go after the charge, then compare your preperation with everyone else. If you have the most, you get both of the charges. If you are tied with one person, each of you gets one. If more than two people tie, then the charges are randomly distributed between the people who tied. In addition, if you get a briefcase of money, you can turn it into a charge. Powerful organizations and people have that kind of money to toss around.

Go Where Everyone Knows You're Not: You may guard someone for one charge.

Tail Someone Without Leaving Home: You may learn all the actions someone takes in a night for one charge.

Rewrite History: Spend Five Charges. Exit the game victorious.

Victory Condition: Eliminate the Order of St. Cecil OR spend five charges in one night.

    Enthropomancer
You had nothing to lose. You were stuck as a register monkey for the foreseeable future. Your friends had moved on to bigger and better things. You were trying to figure out the exact point your life had gone to shit when some tough guy stuck a gun in your face and demanded you empty the register That's when you decided your life had hit rock bottom, and you did something you'd have never done before.

    You laughed in his face.

I mean, doubled over, wheezing for breath, heard the best joke in your life laughter.

The thug didn't know quite what to do. He kind of figited nerviously, and then poked you a few times with the gun. This caused even more laughter, so he then tried to fire. When the gun clicked indicating it was empty, he must have just decided that it wasn't his night, and ran out of the store. As it turns out, he was right. He didn't make it across the street before he got plastered by a drunk driver.

You stopped for a second, and then kept laughing even harder. You were still laughing when the cops showed up. Eventually, you calmed down enough to give a statement, and then you spent the rest of the night doing all the things you had wanted to do before but were too dangerous.

    You'd never felt more alive.

Now you know the truth. Life is nothing but risk. Take risks, and you get more life. Makes sense right? You're still looking for that one huge rush, that'll send you over the top.

Play Chicken with Bandwagon: Every five votes gives you a charge (voting for yourself doesn't count, since there's no real risk there). Note that charging comes after the vote, so if you're voted out, you'll die before you charge up and win.
In addition, if you get a briefcase of money, you can turn it into a charge. Powerful organizations and people have that kind of money to toss around.

Banish Chaos: You can spend one charge to guard someone for one night.

Tempt Fate (For Someone Else): You can spend 2 charges to waste someone.

Boundless Chaos: Spend five charges. Exit the game victorious.

Victory Condition: Eliminate the Order of St. Cecil OR spend five charges in one night.

    Bibliomancy
You love books. They gave you everything the world didn't. You could escape into a book, learn what teachers would never teach, and converse with people long dead. Books were always much more interesting than people. You learned everything about them. Publishers, bindings, paper quality, edition changes. Nothing went unnoticed.

So, it didn't really surprise you when you started to be able to know everything about a book just by looking at it. Not just the easy stuff like if the cheapskates over at Amazon Publishing bound it or the craftsmen over at Natulus Publishers bound it, but you could tell everything written in a book just by looking at it.

You need more books. You know there are other people like you in the city, but they won't appreciate their books like you. If you get the chance, you should probably pay them a visit and “liberate” their libraries.

Read Between the Lines: You are an Even Seer.

Magic Library: You begin the game with a Bibliomancer Library. This is what powers your seer powers. If you can get ahold of enough money, you can improve your library. You must spend a number of briefcases equal to the number of librariese you possess plus one. (Example: You invaded another bibliomancer's library and stole his books. This gets you a full seer. You would need to spend three briefcases of money in order to upgrade to a full and even/odd seering.)

Home Invasion: If you have someone you suspect is a Bibliomancer, then you can try and invade their library and steal their books. If you do, this kills them and steps up your seering in the following manner: Odd/Even → Full → Full and Even/Odd → Exit the game victorious.
However, if they are not a bibliomancer, you will be forced to skip your next seering as you wasted the time you would normally spend getting ready.

Victory Condition: Eliminate the Order of St. Cecil OR Collect four sets (counting your own) of Bibliomancer Libraries.

    Pornomancer (4)
You saw the tape of the Goddess' ascension, and you're on Her path.

Some people have seen bootlegs and claim that it's just special effects. Really good special effects, to be fair, but it's nothing but computer wizardry.

But they didn't see the Original. The one that mysteriously disappeared when it's owner was murdered. There's no doubting a revelation like that. You put your hands in the wounds of the risen Christ, so to speak.

Now, you're in touch with the cosmos and surf on the waves of coincidence. You're sure you're so close to understanding something truly revolutionary about the Goddess's life, but the Occult Underground has called for all hands on deck now that the Order of Saint Cecil is in town. It's a shame too. You just needed a few more charges...

Finding Magic in Someone Else's Arms: You pick someone to sleep with, and if they agree, they perform no other action that night. You gain a charge.
In addition, if you get a briefcase of money, you can turn it into a charge. Powerful organizations and people have that kind of money to toss around.

Fucking Someone Up: Instead of gaining a charge, you may spend a charge to kill the person you are sleeping with. If you kill a Pornomancer in this way, you not only keep the charge you spent, but you gain TWO charges.

Synchronicity is a Bitch: You may spend two charges to act as a busdriver for one night.

Find the Goddess' Embrace: Spend five charges. Exit the Game Victorious.

Victory Condition: Eliminate the Order of St. Cecil OR spend five charges in one night.

    Merchant (4)
You see, the world likes stories. In a way, the world is nothing but stories. Stories have heroes and villains, victims and damsels. If you can figure out what role you're playing, the world looks out better for you.

You're a people person. You like seeing people leave happy with a deal. In fact, you've gotten so good at deal making, you can trade just about anything with anyone. Money, sure, but you can trade years of life, knowledge, even magic itself.

You've kept some useful goods stored up for a rainy day, and it looks like the storms are coming. Also, as a little side project, you've been figuring out how to move up in the ways of the Merchant. All the real players for the position of the Merchant are here, and you were planning to try and swindle their chances out of them. Now, it looks like you could just outlast them if enough bodies start dropping. And you may be able to persuade a few people to go a'callin' on your rivals.

    Sell, baby, sell.

Faustian Bargain: Each day, you may make a deal with someone. This deal is inviolate, and the universe will punish anyone who goes back on it. A deal is defined as an agreement between yourself and another person OR between two other people with you acting as a mediator. Deals must involve the exchange of anything trackable in game, including (but strictly limited to) Adept Charges, Money, Ability uses, and Vote Targets. This is a Manipulation Ability. You may only make one such deal a day.

If you are unsure that a deal would qualify, do not hesitate to ask.

Starting Captial: You begin the game with One (1) briefcase of cash, One (1) onetime guard, and One (1) onetime seer.

Never Get High On Your Own Supply: You may not use any abilities gained from Starting Capital.

Victory Condition: Eliminate the Order of St. Cecil OR be the only merchant to have made a deal every day up to the present OR be the last merchant standing.

    The Freak (SK)
You know how normal people tell scary stories about people with weird powers and inhuman monsters lurking in the world around them? Ever wonder what the freaks and monsters tell scary stories about?

    You.

You are the Freak. You have no friends, no allies, not even peers. This town is yours, and you'll burn it to the ground before someone else takes it from you.

Master Epidermancer - Each night, pick something to Seer as. You may choose from Unaligned Village, The New Inquisition, Cult of the Naked Goddess, The Sleepers, Order of St. Cecil, or you may drop your disguise and seer as yourself. If the same person seers you twice, however, they'll see the real you.
Cold-blooded Killer: Each night, execute someone.
King of Mages: On even nights, tear off someone's face.
I am The Freak: One night in the game, your kills go through guards.
Inhuman Healing: You can guard someone (including yourself). If this blocks a kill, you may not guard on the next night.
Unnatural Resources: Each night, you use your magic to generate a briefcase of cash. Adepts may use these to generate an extra charge to power their abilities.

Victory Condition: Eliminate everyone else in the game.

    The Fool
The world likes stories. In a way, the world is nothing but stories. Stories have heroes and villians, victims and damsels. If you can figure out what role you're playing, thev world looks out better for you.

As a Fool, you've learned that the world just likes people who aren't too sharp and just speak their mind regardless of the cost. Guns pointed in your direction tend to jam, and knives tend to be a little too sharp.

You've decided that it's time for you to ascend and become THE Fool. But you've gotta do something really, really... well... foolish to do that. Like... say... get the entire Underground on you in one night? That'd do the trick.

Fate looks out for Fools, Children, and Little Ships Named Enterprise – Once during the game, a kill will be redirected from you to a random person. Lucky you. If you burn a briefcase of money, you'll get this ability back after it's been used.

Victory Condition: Either be voted out or be attacked by three different people in the same night.

How many nights could you have? I was doing the math and realized you had it if you wanted at least one of them.

I even asked Cap if the deal power could like, cause your win power to fail and then you'd die because you weren't honoring our deal.

    It wouldn't have. :(
A number of them? I decided early that I wouldn't abandon the village, so I didn't try to accumulate charges. Even so, I had a couple nights with four or five charges on hand.

    So, Host's thoughts:

Damn, that was stupid to let everyone spend as many charges as they had instead of limiting actions to one per person. Wow, that was the worst decision.
Although, it wasn't as bad as a decision as to let people spend all there charges every night, it probably wouldn't have been bad to just give all the villager PMs to the mafia.
I'm glad people actually went out and went after their alt win conditions. I was worried people were going just going to be a happy family.
Intially, people were going to get to decide to join one of the factions or not, but the debacle of voluntary conversions that happened last time, I decided to take the optional out of it.
Fun Fact: Only one cliomancer went after charges the first two days, so... that went pretty well for Tzneech.
I'm pretty sure Jdark never had five in one night. He totally could have just dropped a guard one night and then laughed all the way to the bank the next night.

If any one has other question, I'd be happy to answer them.
