So I just got my Christmas bonus and I am considering making this the first game I buy at full price since...um...

    Skyrim maybe?

Perhaps someone with a system comparable to mine can tell me how it's performing for them. I have:

    Asus P8Z77V-PRO motherboard
    Intel Core i5 3570k OC'd @ 4.5Ghz
    2x Gigabyte 6950 1GB (Crossfire)
    12GB DDR3-1600 RAM

And I run games at 1080p.

I've got 42/43 weapons right now, and I don't see in my handbook how to unlock the last one. I wonder what I neglected to buy / haven't unlocked yet? Hrmm.

For the discussion on what FC3 could be compared to, I have been selling it around the office as a modern Red Dead Redemption in a jungle. Also only because for some reason RDR is a game everyone at work has touched.

Apparently Manta Rays dont like depth charges.

Must fill out all animal decription stuff.

EDIT: I started a New Game and beat the first Trial of the Rakyat again (even beat my old score) but it shows Trials as 0/10 completed, the fuck?

Tack a couple of extra FPS onto the score. Voila. With a single it's very playable.

    So awesome.

Lanrutcon, I'm not done yet so I'm not clicking the spoiler. Would you say you liked it?

The multiplayer is fun, but it has the worst kind of bug in it - some weapons occasionally reset their XP, and it fucking sucks.

Less than 30 fps on high. Ugh. This is discouraging. Downloading the Catalyst 12.11 beta driver, but that only mentions helping single-GPU configurations...

Don't understand how people like @Lord Yod are doing fine with only one of my cards...

So does the coloring of the map have anything to do with the color of the plants that will spawn there, or am I reading too much in to it?

Red means pirate controlled. Green means you've cleared out the pirate strongholds in that area.

Ah...so is there any good way to know where plants spawn, or is it completely random? Green and white seem to be the rarest :/

Gotta ask a spoiler question ( don't have the game yet myself). A friend of mine with some personal issues is interested in the game, but I'm concerned she might have a problem. Specifically...
Female captives. Any rape? Mentioned or anything like that? She gets pretty invested in her open-world single player games and there would be a trigger type scenario involved. I want to give her the heads up if that's the case.

I don't recall anything like that and I usually get pretty irritated when stories take that angle because it always seems like such a cheap way to make things seem more horrible. One of the chicks gets away before anything like that can happen, and I think you break the other loose before anything happens as well.

In fact, it's one of the dudes who gets it worse than anybody else, but even then, whether or not anything sexual happens is pretty nebulous. You find him a whimpering wreck, but he's a dudebro so it's okay. Which sounds horrible, but it's true.

Have you watched the Giant Bomb quick look?
Fairly early, there's a scene of psychological domination that an antagonist is performing upon an unwilling female. That's as close as I've seen.

Edit: Additionally, it is strongly implied (and outright stated in a hallucination) that a male character is raped. You're forced to interact at length with his attacker.

GMG would be cheapest, but only if you're in the EU (They can't sell Ubisoft games to people out of that region). Gamefly has a coupon going around for $10 off, though.

That's definitely not right, I have an i3 and a 6850 and get 40-70 fps on everything high except post fx and shadows which are low. DX11 @ 1080p. I turned on v-sync though to get a solid 30 as I was getting tearing on my TV.

Try looking through the FC3 performance thread on the Guru 3D forums, I'm sure there was a Crossfire fix there.

    Hey guys?

There is a relic in the cave under the doc's house.

You will not be able to go get it after reaching the second island.

Keep this in mind before wasting four hours collecting all the relics and ending up stuck at 119/120 and feeling like shit about it.

Stand behind wall, plink rock at it, guards walk over, lob a c4 over, blow it up.

    This game man.

Also one thing that i feel is a testament to the games design is that for 80% of the game i was going hard stealth then one night i was in a bad mood and just went all out death doom and destruction for the rest of the game.
Both ways are amazingly satisfying, seeing the outpost zoom out shot as fire burns wildly still from your fight.

I took down a strong hold with the help of what I think was a peacock / turkey / ungodly marriage of the two. This is such a bad ass game.

I've been playing Skyrim (because I've been forced too) and I keep wishing I had all my Far Cry 3 goodies to make the game more interesting.

MSAA will do a good job of it, too. Even on my dual-670s, I had to knock that down to 2x or 4x to stay above 60fps consistently.
