So hey, has anyone been watching Game Grumps?



Introduction Video

Essentially internet personalities JonTron and Egoraptor play videogames and record themselves while doing so, generally making silly jokes, small talk, and in some rare cases, deep discussion, along the way. They've been at it since Mid-July and are at a little over 250 videos so far.

An internet fanbase has popped up making animations to go along with the audio from their videos, and sometimes they end up being better than the actual videos themselves.

Yep these guys are a daily ritual for me now, I've watched every video. The Sonic 06 one is great.

Goof Troop is an obvious winner for favorite series of videos, but in general the game show videos (Family Feud, Jeopardy, Millionaire) are my favorite, as the the sometimes odd questions get some interesting commentary.

Goof Troop was a good time, but after that I hadn't really enjoyed the rest of the videos. I really liked the episode of Sonic 06 with the snowboarding, that was pure gold though. But after a while the videos start to feel a bit samey.

I watch it a lot and enjoy it but I feel like it has been decreasing in quality regularly. A little too much random screaming going on. Early series were much better for real discussion.

Anyone know which Megaman video has them kill a guy on a truck, then do a bit about him "calling dispatch, saying he's afraid" before it blows up? It was the funniest god damn thing and I've not been able to track it down since.

The series has also revealed an alarming number of games Ego is not a fan of!

It's enjoyable seeing some of their input, but I tend to disagree with some of Egoraptor's thoughts.

The community following Game Grumps is one of the most impressive ones I have seen given the music and animations coming out from them.

really enyoing going through their Sonic '06 LP, some of the parts where they just lose it are contagious, like ring alimoney for ring kid, snowboarding uphill, and picking gumballs off the ground.

Yeah, it's good stuff. Recently it's been going down though. I dislike how ego is hating on every game from my childhood(ocarina, turtles, dkc, battletoads, etc...) Also that Jon references Continue so much. Even though Continue is a great show, it just gets old. Even Ego is like, "NOOOOO! NOO MORE NIGHTWISH!"

Still a great show. Love the animations.

Just that it's overrated and based on boring gameplay. Jumping on enemies and moving from left to right. He obviously enjoyed the gramps play because they uploaded the finale today, but during the first couple videos he was constantly like "I hate this game, but I told myself that I wouldn't get into it because we're playing it."

I suspect Arin likes a very particular style of gameplay in platformers.

I've started to think you can assign two different kinds of attributes to 'em - jankiness and twitchiness.

DKC is definitely a janky platformer, I feel. Mario would be an example of a twitchy one.

I think Arin likes twitchier platformers.

i love this series and have watched it all, i usually like their one-offs much more. sometimes they get fatigued of playing the same game. i like most of the versus ones the best, the smash ones are great even if jon whines like a bitch at first.

We only had 3 DKC games. (Plus DKC Returns)
Arin loves the side-scrolling Mega Man games. Yet, including the X and Zero series, the count is more than 20. How does it not get old at a certain point?

His logic is not completely sound at times. Though I love both games....


I am usually very open-minded to others' opinions regarding games, but is there an unwritten rule to punch someone in the kidneys for dismissing Turtles in Time?
Unless we're talking about Re-Shelled, here.

I enjoy it quite a bit. Of course, it's annoying how they quit fun to watch games (Banjo Kazooie) for other games (that they then quit in an episode or two). Also, Arin has turrible opinions, but until he tries to make a Sequelitis about them, that's fine (the currently existing episodes of that are great).

Sonic '06 is currently the best thing going, hopefully they keep a good pace and don't just give up when it gets increasingly terrible.

Yeah, TMNT: TiT is hitting it pretty close to me.

Though, to be fair, I would find it pretty boring if you don't play it on anything other than hard.

I was sad that they stopped their LP of Demon's Souls, though it would mostly be just us watching them get evicerated for whole episodes I guess...though I hardly can see how that would be not entertaining.

Aside from the classic Awesome series (Metal Gear Awesome, Awesome May Cry etc), Ego did some great videos on sequels/game design that, while not ground breaking, are super funny.

He also did a collaboration with a bunch of dudes on ME3's ending which was amazing.

I watched all 16 Sonic LP videos last night (what a fucking awful game...) and I had tears running down my face from laughing.

Well, there was some of that, but mostly I think he just genuinely liked it.

I watched the entirety of the Kung-Fu Jesus, Pokecapn LP of 06. It is fascinating as an experiment in mental health decline.

I hope they at least finish Sonic's story.

Also dunno how I feel about them fast forwarding through stuff now. At least they pause for random fuckups though.
