It's funny to go from Arin reading all the story in Zelda or SoM in silly voices and having a good time with it, to him continuously mashing on the controller in the TMNT game, trying to skip the story.
I wonder what his reaction would be to the RPG character in Eat Lead, that spoke in giant text boxes that irritated the main character.
Even Jon and Arin being as funny as possible can't distract me from that utterly terrible game. Them playing a bad game is tolerable for a one-off or a very short series, but 100+ episodes? Fuck no.
Sonic 06 got boring because it went on for too long, which is exactly what's happening with Mario Sunshine and Kirby right now. I'm very much looking forward to them finishing those two so we can move on to something else.

Yeah, you can tell they felt the same way while they were shooting it. Which is probably why they are using walkthroughs more and more for Sunshine.
Completely ok with them using walkthroughs instead of stumbling around for 15minutes.
I managed 120 shines in a 20 hour binge, and estimating 10 to 15 minutes an episode they are approaching that time table as well.
pretty good on them to manage 1 shine per episode as well (doesn't matter the source, any shines gotten are progress
Just to prove how awesome I am, when they got to that part I decided to reinstall VVVVVV, start a new game (since my save was lost apparently), get to Doing Thing the Hard Way, and then complete it before they did.

Think of how much better that episode could have been if Ross hadn't warned him about landing on the left side.
I knew as soon as I realized that could happen that I had to watch that episode all the way through; because it was either going to end with a massive celebration, or Arin killing himself after landing on the wrong side.
I wouldn't be surprised if they did finish Sonic '06 but declined to upload it due to it being boring and not wanting a bunch of Jon videos running during Danny's debut.
It's funny because I rented the game as a kid and literally did not know you could "jump back" to your ship so I just ran around for hours killing stuff. I have fond memories of that game even though I played like 5% of the game.
I love how Danny intentionally(?) misread the text during the Magic Show so that he says "Weep as you hear her story," when it clearly says his. The Sprite is a BOY. Ugh.
Secret of Mana is annoying me. I've started watching episode 2 three times but had to close it out of annoyance because they're missing basic shit like:
Dude: "Help yourself to anything from the chest downstairs"
Arin: *Goes outside*
Arin: "Hey I bet there's stuff in chests around here somewhere!"

Hnnnnnngh!
Well they don't really have basements in California so maybe the concept confused him.
I think we've been over this, but the Sprite's gender is never confirmed. The Dwarf says both 'it' and 'his' in the English version. In the German version, the Sprite is female. In the Japanese version, it seems slightly more likely it is a male, but it's still not certain.
The very first reference of the sprite directly in the game is 'his'. It's a he. The dwarf then referred to it as an 'it' because its a totally different race. Gnome later thinks that the sprite is married to the girl, and at another point it says 'he ate all the food on the ship'.
There's really no ambiguity. If he's a he in the Japanese version, a he in the US version (that they're playing, and continued to say 'she' when reading the fucking text box that explicitly said him ) then he's a he.
Everything I can find about the subject says that they never directly say if it is a boy or a girl in the original script. In Japanese, it uses a pronoun that is mostly gender neutral.
I think you're supposed to have that reaction, and immediately decide on one for yourself, but they left it out on purpose. Since you've literally got Boy and Girl as the other two characters. The third character isn't Boy Sprite or Girl Sprite, it's just Sprite. Boy, Girl, Sprite.
Calling it a boy or a girl is fine, but getting angry and saying someone is flat out wrong for going the other way doesn't seem right.
I guess I'm a bit biased since she's referred to as 'she' in the version I played as a kid, but she definitely looks like a girl, what with the long hair and all, so I can't really blame them for thinking she is a girl.
Especially since they both played the game before, but it has been a while since then, so they probably remember the visuals better than the text.
I'd argue you could take that stance if at any point in the version they're playing, the game refers to the Sprite in the feminine context, but there are several cases where the Sprite is referred to with "he" and "his". They literally misread the text that says his. Continuing to refer to the Sprite as a girl from that point just makes them look ignorant (not that they haven't been ignorant before.)

Sometimes you read what you want to read, that's how the brain works occasionally. They were thinking of the sprite as a girl, so they subconsciously read the "his" as "her".
Anyway, I don't think this is worth getting worked up over. They enjoy playing the game, I enjoy watching them, that's all that matters to me.
I still wager they'll be done at Wall Face. If not Wall Face ... Pure Lands? Pure Lands is a ballbuster even for the grinders.
EDIT: I guess the Witch's Castle could also get them ... with Spikey. Really, basically any boss could get them. Ice Palace? Jabberwock? I have little faith in them.
Aaaand we're done. There were some very painful episodes with Arin being terrible at this game (like when he doesn't realize he can use the rocket nozzle to jump over Bowser's fire breath in this episode) but all in all I had fun.
I donno, I thought Arin figuring out he could fake out Bowser was a more clever, and safer approach, to attempting to rocket nozzle over the fire. Because that ledge you have to land on is tiny!
I am getting real skeptical that Danny played this game all that much as a child. Now, I played it as a kid too, but it was always rentals so my time was limited. I still remember incredibly basic stuff in the beginning though.

I feel the same considering how much Danny claims Secret of Mana was "huge" in his house, but then they miss little things like what they should've done in Pandora since it's such an important thing
to recruit the Girl in your party.
Or even basic stuff like equipping gear, or switching weapons and charging up.
I was impressed that the actually went off and grinded levels before trying the werewolves a third time and not just immediately wasting the revive item they bought overpriced from neko

Managed it at the 30 minute mark.
They were more enthusiastic than me, though.

In this exciting episode, Arin gets a character (that he'll be able to use next episode).

I got a little excited when I saw your ship.
It amuses me that they spend the vast majority of their time in the finale of VVVVVV discussing Trine 2 and Pokemon.

A two player RPG (three if they bring in Barry, Ross, or Suzy to play the girl).
This cannot end well. It will be hilarious, sure, but it won't end well.
EDIT: Spikey Tiger is going to WRECK them.
