right now, i think the best counter to the 8 man min/max rush is to have 8 Raven Ls on our team. leave 1 or two to distract the ECM blob, and the rest b-line to the enemy cap. Load up the L's with Cap module, ECM, BAP, Streaks and ML to kill any lights that come to the rescue and hope the cap timer runs out.

Despite not playing this much at all and despite having no desire to discover the horrific streak situation, I had a dream last night that I was playing this. PPCs were the giant blue lightning balls from MechWarrior 2, I hit a Commando with one and it exploded very gratifyingly, and I served as bait for the enemy while the rest of you closed in from the flanks (you were in streak Cats).

Wait how does ECM make LRMs pointless? You can still TAG them out to 450m can't you?
I don't know, but it seems that having to get inside 450m and maintain LOS kind of defeats the purpose of LRMs.
If you have to get that close and maintain LOS for your missiles to work, might as well dump the launchers and ammo and kit your self out with large lasers and as many heatsinks as you can cram in.
IIRC, they said all it does is make it so they don't show up on radar outside of 200m. Okay, but they still show up on LOS, and TAG'd 'mechs are still treated normally, because TAG is the hard counter to ECM. So you get someone to TAG him, and they spot for the LRM boats. LRMs shouldn't need LOS, just the TAG'r.
sounds great on paper. just have some random pug tag for you? not gonna happen. even in team matches, a constant, steady tag is tricky. by the time the missiles you launch from 900m out get anywhere close to your target, TAG will more than likely have been lost.
And really, launching LRMs from 450m is pointless. May as well get a couple AC10s. More damage.
I contend that the game should not be balanced around scrub tier pub players

Fair point. I contend an entire line of weapons shouldnt be contigent on one specific piece of equipment because another piece has completely blocked their use.

Well I contend that we should retitle the thread "Merry Streakmas" and then we all kiss

I would probably cackle and rasp my hands as well. At the very least, I would grow a moustachio, then tweak it menacingly.
Of all their different pricing options in MWO, I am at least glad that Mechbays are an extremely reasonable price.
Yeah, Mechbays are like the one thing that I don't really mind paying for. $15 for 10 of them seems fair enough to me, considering how long it takes to go through 10 mechs.

Oh man, yeah, so glad the mechbays are reasonably priced. I bought four extra right out of the gate without even hesitating, because I knew that, provided I kept playing the game, there would be no way I wouldn't be able to use all those bays.
I do wish there was a way to "archive" mechs or something, though, like storing them in a warehouse. Hell, I could even see that as a premium service; charge a couple bucks a month and you can mothball X number of mechs and take X number of mechs out of storage per month for free (and then pay CBills to do it after that), but you never have to sell any of them.
I definitely like the idea of having this huge warehouse dedicated to storing my mechs that I just don't feel like using right now when people are living in future-feudal poverty.

Huh? Buying mech bay is essentially paying them for the privilege of buying more stuff from them in the future. It's like paying for using a cart at the grocery store so you can buy lots of stuff.

Yeah, only Founder mechs have "free" mechbays, but those "free" mechbays are permanently reserved for those mechs.
But honestly, if somebody is playing enough for 4 mech bays to be insufficient, then asking a dollar or whatever per mech bay is really not much of a demand since, Hero/Founder mechs aside, all mechs are available through normal play. I mean, at the times when the game is in good, working condition, I have more money than I even know what to do with, especially if playing with my Wang a good bit (I love my Wang). And for all my grumping about the state of the game now, I honestly feel like I have easily gotten my money's worth of enjoyment out of the game for buying a Founder pack. I've probably spent in excess of 70 hours playing this, and the vast majority of that was when wipes were common and I still want to play more.
I've also looked into doing some tweaks with the NARC and TAG systems. So far I'm planning on increasing the time that a NARC beacon lasts from 15 seconds to 20 seconds. TAG range will be boosted from 450m to 750m.
These changes will go through testing and if it feels right, you'll see them next patch.
Some speed values they're testing out. The ppc buff in particular has my attention.

So I finally elite'd my third Hunchback.. do I need to keep two in order to master my Founders? or can I sell them off and still master it once I have the exp?

If all three have the elite things maxed out and master is unlocked you can sell the ones you don't want and master won't go away.

Awesome, thanks. Now I can afford my third Catapult, and the grind can continue.

Five extra seconds on NARC?! Whoah, whoah now! Let's not get too hasty! Next you'll tell me you're planning to buff machinegun damage by 10% or something crazy like that!
I'm looking into flamers creating more heat on the target than on on the shooter
This would just be silly, everyone knows the primary purpose of the flamer in the TT was for grilling gigantic hamburgers and slow-roasting spacechickens.
I would really love it if, after collision is fixed, they changed the damage profiles of flamers and MGuns to be about four times what it is now..if you're inside of about 30m. From 30-60m let it be about twice what it is now, and from 60+ keep going as they do currently. Same with heat generation on flamers, as well. Up in your face? Those bad boys should cook.

Now it's main purpose is to be put in the Awesome's headslot and make it look even cooler.

yesssssssss! gonna turn my phract into a ppc beast. ppcs will be SCARY.
like the tag boost. gonna pop one on my c4.
... narc... really? 20 seconds? tripple that and well talk.
It'd be nice if the heat was reasonably capable of setting off a guy's munitions as well. Since everyone puts their ammo in their feet instead of using CASE it'd be pretty hilarious to see a Commando go light up a mech's ankles and see them explode.

So, what's the game like? I tried it for a very brief moment before getting annoyed with matchmaking. Is that all this is going to be is matchmaking or is it going to become something grander when released proper?

Also shot Causality in the back.
Is it possible to run with multiple ECM suites in the same 'mech? If so, is it possible to have one on counter and one on disrupt? Because....yeah
2000 m/s for PPCs? I approve!
I am a battlemech hipster.
