Just sent in the basics, I'm still sick and can't think too straight.
I feel like a total turkey that I can't get my mom anything this year. Someone ran their big fat mouth and told her that I lost my job, which I something I was going to keep from her until forever if possible. So now she's constantly worried, which is something she doesn't need as she's trying to focus on school and her boyfriend who needs constant attention.
So I'm signing up for her. She's put up with my constant, unending crap for almost 30 years. The poor woman deserves a Starbucks gift card or something (yeah, that's totally compensation for three decades of hell, yup.)

1: Thank you @Larlar for mentioning this to me, as ironically I would have otherwise missed it completely having been in and out of the hospital for the past three or four weeks. The prospect of this has seriously brightened the season of what could end up being the second straight year of Christmas in the hospital.
2. Gift cards are fantastic when they have a personalized message. I've been in the hospital many times and gotten many cards, and it would always brighten my day when I was visited by a friend my age in the hospital or if I got a card with a special message from the people I knew.

Both of those things gave me big old smiles.
Had a lot of people show up for my graduation party (including my wife and kids) and one guest had the flu and another had bronchitis.
I was glad to see them but also? Chemo immunocompromised me. So now I feel like complete shit and am trying to be a good parent and watch ballet videos with my daughter, who is fascinated by Swan Lake, and every time I try to snort in a breath through my congested sinuses and horribly sore throat, she tells me to "shhhh".
