I know your pain, my first IT job was a catch all, but they had the decency to put it into my job description so I knew it when I took the job.

I've been tasked to fix toilets and electrical sockets. I've done it because I like my boss. And because I was bored. I probably wouldn't let them make it a habit but a one off "the toilet won't stop draining, HELP" is no big deal.

Uuuugh writing self-evals is the worst. Have to make up all my future goals, since they actually are: Get job at a good company. Enjoy getting paid more than half the standard wage.

I just cannot get this war to deploy on Windows Server 2012. I have removed/added the server hundreds of times while trying something slightly different... Still nothing. And, unfortunately, one of our major projects requires glassfish and it NEEDS to be installed on this server since it is going to deploy soon.
I'd just disavow all knowledge that I had to do anything with glassfish. When questioned, make them think they're looney.
"What are you talking about?"
"No I've never done anything like that. I'm a programmer why would I do that stuff?
"What I have work orders with my name... hmm looks like someone forged them."
"Not sure what to tell you man, I really wouldn't even know where to begin."

"Wait glassfish is a real thing? I thought you were just on mushrooms or something. I mostly just smile and nod while thinking about boobs when you talk to me"

Nothing wrong with defeat. Always accept it so you can get help instead of limping around and then someone swoops in for the kill because you're defeated and exhausted.

Is the shadow copy storage actually useful for your average gaming-only desktop computer? I discovered that mine was up to 130 gigs and Windows was for whatever reason doing massive disk activity there for days on end, killing performance.
Set it to 20 gigs max and got 130 gigs of disk space back.
I... figured it out finally. 5 days of working and do you want to know what it was!?
I had a 64bit JDK installed........ when I installed the 32bit JDK the server deployed it without a problem.
Hmm didn't I mention that? I thought I did. If not man, yeah, that's like the #1 thing to check against JVMs. Do you have 32bit/64bit? Try the other one.

Here's the thing... I ran the glassfish installer using the 32 bit JDK but for some reason it was still trying to use the 64bit... So I decided to remove everything and start from square 1.
It will probably opt for whatever is first in the PATH statement, or, based on the architecture of the system, regardless of whatever JVM is running it.

PATH had the 32 bit and JAVA_HOME was the 32 bit. I just don't understannnd. Oh well it works now.

For those of us who are not in 'murica or don't watch the "history" channel on principle, why is that guy relevant here? Other than the hair, obviously.
He thinks everything happened because of aliens. In particular, this meme is used to explain the unexplainable using his tagline (though I'm not sure if he officially phrased it this way).
"I'm not saying it was aliens. But it was aliens." Shortened to "Aliens."

Ah, that explains why he keeps showing up in sci-fi threads… I just thought he was a bad Centauri cosplayer.
So another weird thing about my CEO's email... he just moved 10,000 emails locally (over 7GB worth) and it didn't move his mailbox size. I am seriously confused here.
I have a bad feeling his "All Mail" folder is also keeping a copy of his sent items and that the "Sent items" folder didn't really do anything. It's very, very weird.
Or, he's set it up as a POP server with "keep a copy on the server" and thus, he downloads a copy, marks it as read on the server, then, you're just working with a local copy.

Unfortunately that's what I thought too but his "Sent Items" folder in the Google application says that there are only 2600 emails, down from 13,000. So I know he moved them locally (verified that they were gone). And I know for a fact he doesn't use POP because he's paranoid about not being able to get to his email from home whenever we do anything in Outlook.
Could also be he's got gigantic attachments in his emails so that the remaining emails were the ones taking up 99% of that space. And hence why they're "important."
Or, it could take a while for the system to update space free as it gets processed and removed form backups and all that.

And then go work on something else.

Yeah. Disk space wasn't an issue, but constant 30 megs/second read/write... fuck off.

Another is he's being slowly abducted by aliens.
