You can set your own hotkeys and shortcuts to what you want. I like to use QWER for abilities 1-3 and ult, and then TY for abilities 4-5. I have my items set to ASDZXC in a matching grid, stop on F and attack on V.
It is not particularly normal for the enemy team to leave 10 minutes in, no. Unless you are steamrolling them completely.
It was 3 to 1 at that point. Played another game since then that actually went to the end. I'm liking Dota2 so far, still HoN is my favorite at this point... I have missed me some Meepo though
So I just got Dota 2, played my first game and the other team quit within 10 minutes. This about normal? Took longer to find the game than to play it. Also, quick someone tell me every hot key and short cut I will ever need to know! K Go!
I can't tell you hotkeys that are default but I'd recomend setting item hotkeys to TYU/GHJ. I've found that set really easy to reach.
Also the reason the whole of their team quit was due to the abadon system. Someone likely left early so they played the 5 minutes till the game was declared not counting and left not wanting a 4v5.
Too anyone who wants to watch some top level, psychologically taught dota 2 games, the DK vs. LGD G league match is pretty much the best you're going to find.
Darkseer can do it if he is completely shut out in hardlane but it isn't what you'd pick him for most of the time, unless just filling a slot in the right circumstances.
Also Batrider but it isn't like you're ever allowed to pick him anyway. He also does better in mid.
Furion but I don't think I've seen him picked all that often lately.
Lifestealer got picked a few times during starladder but I'm not sure if they went jungle. Lycan got unnerfed a tiny bit and can jungle well. In fact lifestealer got picked by tongfu just now, though they're playing him in a trilane.
So, I didn't see anything like this in the OP so I thought I would ask: Is there a good website, youtube channel, twitch channel, or whatever for watching pro matches with good commentary?
I am just starting to get into this game and I think watching some good examples of high level play could help me wrap my head around some concepts.
Edit: Checking out that DK vs LGD match that was mentioned.
http://www.youtube.com/user/PurgeGamers is my personal favourite. He can be a bit of a rager but he has alot of info and does some good live commentaries of his own play (if you look really early into his channel it tends to be pretty new player friendly for the DOTA 2 stuff).
EDIT: If you want the opposite of learning from watching a pro play Purge casts a pub is a wonderful series where he basically tries his best to seriously cast low skill players. It's pretty helpful because he both tries to justify WHY the pubs would do what they're doing and correct them with more optimal plays/items.
There has been a few patches since then though so there are some things they do that you wont see anymore. Morphling was nerfed hard, Lycan can't jungle as well anymore etc.
Edit: and watching players like Merlini and Aui2000 stream could probably help too if you like that kind of thing. They usually try to explain all of their decisions. Of course, they are top players so whether or not you can pull of what they do is something you have to ask yourself. I can't play late game Tinker like this for example: http://www.twitch.tv/merlinidota/c/1728482
Is there a PA clan (or whatever the proper term is) that I can join? Id like to be able to play with some people that will explain/be forgiving for a new person. I've played a lot of HoN and Dota 1 but I still gotta get used to the changes of this version of the game.

join the PennyArcade channel and there you will find a bunch of degenerates that play this game.

Okay cool thanks. Solo queing in Hon makes my head hurt. Right now my biggest problem is that I don't know who I am facing. That makes it tough to know what to do.
I just started playing after this game after having played around 1000 games in LOL. As it is im enjoying myself, trying new heroes and items and generaly having fun.
I started playing single draft as this reduces availible hero pool from 90+ to 3 and thats more menagable.
My current level matchmaking throws me into a lot of crappy games. People drop at the slightest of reason - he 0/2 and hes gone. A lot of duo queue players who dominate hard because they actually use supports in lanes, and moving as 5 late game is this alien, ilogical concept. Admitebly this tends to go both ways, but still its kinda frustrating.
Basicly what im asking is: does it get better? Does matchmaking take games played into consideration? Do people stop leaving?
LoL has the level system, where you go through around 100 games playing with other newbies and smurfs, and what im playing now reminds me of those games, but in LOL you reach level 30 and it gets a lot better. Does something similiar happens here?
I would say so. I would also say that if you want to hit that point earlier, start queuing with friends and stop 10 games or so, then you'll see a jump in who you play against.

As this is a Valve free to play game naturally you are matchmade by the quality of your courier. Since getting Baby Roshan in a random drop my games have never being the same. 10/10.

Both games get better or worse at least somewhat as a function of your skill. There are gonna be shitheads in both games regardless of skill level, and League is probably a bit nicer as a baseline, but I've noticed that people have definitely gotten less shitty on average in my borderline high skill solo queue adventures in DotA.
Also, that video was hilarious to me... and it also reminded me of the utterly awful game I had recently where I had to lane VS against QoP mid. I got pretty much dominated, though the QoP I was facing was much more aggressive than Biscuit's.
I'll never get why people hate on spirit breaker so much. He is awesome.
its cause hes the hero that noobs love to pick, they think he is so great cause he is very effective after getting MoM and he has an auto initiation skill, so noobs love this.
too bad he scales like shit late game and this is why decent players dont like him.

Eh I never get MoM on him. I perfer things that help with the ganking aspect like urn then sceptre into something like bkb and Mjollnir. I can build him carry if I have to but thats not really the point of the charecter. Late game he can fall off pretty hard yeah but he can completely change early and mid game.
Guess you got in through the application or someone gifted it to you.
I never applied for anything and I have zero Steam friends so that's not it. Must be this Spectator thing then. If it gets the 75% special off can I still buy it then?

Yeah should work but as Dac Vin said, we have loads of invites in the thread so you can get it for free if you want. I have like 7 invites myself.
my brain has question: is there any good reason to ever use wind runner's ult on heroes? or should you only use it on towers or maybe a very tanky hero that has a lot of health?

MKB Deadalus carry Windrunner disapproves of this statement.
MKB Deadalus carry Windrunner ulties ALL the other carries, and they die before the shackle shot is done
When carry WR is in town, Shackleshot means enemy carries might as well be towers for how long they live.
Carry windrunner can also go aghanim's, basher and sheepstick to really piss people off.
Your team while you are farming it and the enemy when it actually works
Yeah, but doing that takes you from being a bit of a troll into being the biggest asshole in the game. Being ulted by that Windrunner is the least fun thing, the least. Your character stutter steps, as a sheep, feebly trying to run before the shackle comes off again.
Unless I'm playing Lich (where I use Sacrifice aggressively), I find that I overextend during the early farming phase of the game quite often. Because I can't stand to let the enemy have all that free farm, I tend to ignore the peril and fight close to the tower until eventually I'm ganked so many times I'm useless in the game. What can I do to prevent overextending without giving up the gold and experience I so desperately need?

As a new player you can also watch the International 2 which was the highlight of this year. http://www.dota2.com/international/mainevent/schedule/friday/

TB being terribad at DOTA2.
First 6 minutes, just watch it, best opening to a lane ever.
(Warning, you may be made angry by incompetence)
Need to finish it later.

At least Crit-runner is quick and merciful.
