Silencer is pretty much the single most annoying hero to lane against currently, at least for me. If I have to lane against him, I want to do it as a right click monster that doesn't need a ton of mana. Againsta good Silencer, you can pretty much expect to not have mana for the first part of the game.
Yep, I was Sven. Decided to go straight for bkb after boots and urn... didn't get it until 28 minutes into the game. And the only reason I got it is because I decided to roam.

Exact same thing happened to me, if you replace urn with drums. Didn't get my treads until like 15 minutes, after I just left lane. Though Silencer got much easier to deal with once I had a few levels in war cry to get rid of curse.

Soul Ring on Sven is a really, really good pickup and would solve the Silencer problem. He has mana problems even without Silencer.

Or just pick a character who gives no fucks to lane against Silencer. Drow is a personal favorite of mine.
Play bullshit overpowered heroes until you can pull yourself into a higher MMR bracket where people appreciate good support imo.
furion is still part of my Top Three Winrates or whatever in my profile
i hate it... but its true..................

I really should just start doing the Dagon Furion jungle thing. I know how to do it, I've done it a bunch, I tend to win when I do it (because, lets face it, at most MMR levels people have no clue how to ward the jungle or go in there to actually stop him)....I just feel so dirty about it sometimes.

Actually the Professor Fierce video on how to Dagon Furion is one of the first things I point a new Dota player to. It's a bit unconventional, but there are SOOOO many good game habits you learn from playing that build: Map awareness, awareness of what your teammates are doing, how to jungle, how to time spawns, how to pull and stack camps.
I just played the most fustrating game in months. Its a Chaos Knight (me), Vengeful, Shadow Demon trilane with brood and shadow fiend solo against necro, axe, viper, lina, sand king. Trilane goes really well and we get a few kills but shadow fiend is losing mid abit due to ganks. Shadow demon decides to spend most of the game in the jungle where he accomplishes little aside from having no mana so he can neither help what was supposed to be a trilane or gank mid. Try getting him to go help mid since vengeful and me are doing well. He goes for a minute or two then heads right back into the jungle to accomplish nothing useful. I am getting really good farm since SK and lina won't try anything so i figure hey I can totes carry this since I out carry viper late.
Meanwhile brood is getting shit on top and shadow fiend continues to get ganked constantly while shadow demon just sits in the jungle. Things snowball and a game that was easily winnable ends up a hilariously one-sided loss due to poor teamwork and a jungle shadow demon.

does Drow's orb count as a spell for the purposes of Curse?

It's stories about teammates like this that make me think maybe I'm not quite so bad and stop me from giving the game up for a little while longer. :P So... thanks for sharing!
Lost a hard fought game yesterday when a jungle furion rushed a rapier. We'd been getting shit on the whole game and finally mounted a solid come back, then he buys the damn rapier and loses it. It was basically game over at that point since we were 40 min in and an enemy drow is the one who picked it up. She was doing 2k crits with it.
My friend was on the latest Dota Fails of the Week as Omniknight. I remember him telling me about it and thinking it was hilarious, and it was even funnier than I thought. The Naix "jukes" one is also excellent.
I was thinking why I wasn't experiencing the goosery you guys are experiencing during pub matches lately, and I realized that every time I play, I play with at least 2 other friends. So, find (decent) friends who always play if you want to avoid silly geese!
Though if I did solo queue, I'd probably just keep on choosing Centaur every game, since he's so easy to play.
Well this is getting ridiculous, I now have 7 invites in my inventory. Probably aren't anymore people who wants one but you know, if there is shoot me a PM or something.
Just checking the scorescreen, my main guess is that Lycan doing really poorly is part of the loss. Who bought the rapier first?
Oops! My friend (Dark Seer) told me it was 38 after I quickly quit and drowned my sorrows in alcohol.
I bought the rapier as a last ditch effort to force the win when we started losing teamfights and rax. It worked wonders for a few teamfights but I lost it in the last minute of the game.

My guess is it was a general failure to push fast enough, probably caused by Lycan doing way badly. You can't let a game go for an hour and ten minutes when the enemy has four of the hardest carries in the game while the best you have is Razor and Lycan.

4 of the hardest carries? TA falls off, their spectre had a horrible game(lowest gpm), and for his money Tiny has a horrible build(also low GPM). And meepo shouldn't be much of a factor late game.
Not getting a guinsoo on furion is a crime and I am not a fan of heart on ds either so he could get one as well and then you probably win if sniper doesn't buy a bkb.

Hahahahahahaha Refresher Orb Magnus is hilariously fun to play.
Magnus in general is super good. Bullies off lane with Shockwave, tower dives for kills no prob.

It does not remove Curse of the Silent.
