Warrunner and Drow because of the recent changes to their ults, Troll, Slark Tusk and Bristleback because they are still relatively new with some tweaks to them I would imagine.
I was doing a bit of research for some writing and stumbled upon a couple of weird statistics.
When it comes to all time popularity only 6 of the top 20 heroes have positive win rates, and overall only about 1/3 of the total heroes have +50% win rates. Stranger still, Crystal Maiden has a higher win rate (and is positive) than Dark Seer, and some of the heroes without positive win rates include perennial bitch bait like Bounty Hunter, CK, NP, Mag, and TA. And obviously Ursa has a positive win rate.

I think it may be a bit for Troll, the more I see him in games, the more I'm thinking he's sorta broken. But it's tough to say either way, in particular I think he's the only hero I've seen that can backdoor towers solo (that's with backdoor protection); he makes NP look like a joke. And he doesn't have to be packed with high tier items to do it either. That god damn ult is too good.

I think Bristleback is out because he's new to Dota 2. He was top pick/ban for a long time in WC3.
Actually, that's sort of untrue. After 10 seconds (which is a huge time in a fight, granted, but not super long for prolonged engagements), quills damage is basically constant, not increasing, since stacks are independent.
I'm still not sure why he had his max quill damage increased so much since there was almost no way to hit the previous cap and the new cap is completely unattainable unless you backtank the fountain.
He still sucks because he depends on chasing people around like an idiot or people chasing him around like an idiot. If he builds tanky then he's kind of useless. If he builds mana then he's also useless. And if he waits too long to engage then everyone will have armour and hp and quills will be useless.
I was thinking the other day, remembering that Krob used to be a somewhat acceptable counter to Naix. If someone could find a way to fit her into a lineup it could almost work again, except that the way Naix is played these days is pretty different so maybe not. Hmmm
Kotl krob bb
Kotl mows down the creepwave, krob waves down anything that's left, bb tanks the tower by alternating hitting it and then turning around as the tower shot comes. Krob ult deals the damage to the tower.
In a gank krob + bb = krob ult guaranteed to pound down a victim
kotl + bb = either opponent runs and is mana leaked, or stands still and is goo'd/beaten. Goo stacking also allows kotl to line up nukes
Throw in some guys with hard disables and it could work. Yeah, I know I'm reaching.
But the fact that BB gets such a huge damage buff from warpath lvl 1 now means that building some mana and some tank is not quite so bad. If he's had some time to throw out spines en route to a fight/gank, he can enter it with +100 attack damage, which is quite a lot at level 6.
There's nothing there that couldn't be done as well or better by a dozen other heroes. There's also devoting 2 core farmers to take down towers with ults leaving 2 lanes completely free to be counterpushed by faster and more mobile pushers.
What do you think about BB having the buffed damage buff on his ult? Whatever his other problems, +100 damage at level 6 just seems statistically too good to not be a factor.
bristleback actually hits like a horse and i think if people try to play him as an aggressive face sitting carry with like armlet/bkb they'd like him
People have been pretending he is SB itemization-wise in pugs I've been in to pretty reasonable effect if they have the sense to chill out for a few levels and get his whole kit online. The guys who try to start smashing face at level 1 don't succeed, though.
If you're laning against sniper as a melee character, and it depends on the lane because it'll usually (in pubs) be a 2v2 lane, you've just got to all in him. Even if you're a lane of Antimage and Faceless void or something similarly stupid, the correct solution to laning against sniper is probably to dive in on him.
if you aren't, picking up stout shield as a melee hero when there's a good chance you'll be up against a ranged hero in lane is great
i know i feel like shit when i try to harass people as a ranged hero and they have stout shield
and if you're an agi carry, poor man's shield is also great, and both poor man's and stout shield can be completed/bought in the side shop. you can go to lane with a stout shield and then finish the PMS there
I'll give that a go next time. I was playing beastmaster and figured early on my best hope was to stay near the creeps and just get xp. Once I got to six he bolted to another lane after one shout kill, so in hindsight I guess that was pretty much the right move. Unfortunately he got fed elsewhere and was a really big problem later on.

BM should not be too rough a time against Sniper by comparison to some of the options, yeah. Throw axes, get what farm you can, ruin his day once Roar arrives or, if you're one of those guys with micro on BM, ruin his day by having the wolverine-boar-guy chase him around with you.
The shield is extra-effective on Sniper early because his base damage is trash, as well.
God damn, I just played against a comp straight out of the textbook of "sucks to be a carry." Axe, Dark Seer, Silencer, Blood, and Viper. If I even looked at a teamfight as Dragon Knight I immediately ate 3 DOT's, 2 AOE's, 2 silences, and a Viper in a pear tree. I went pipe, but the support guy went ballistic and said I needed to rush BKB...

He had a point, but that is a really solid pushing team and if yours lacked AoE it may have been pretty much out of your hands.

We had a KotL and SandKing, we should have been fine, but a lot of early mistakes were made. The Blood just went pure farm, and actually knew what he was doing so he didn't build the dumb recommended items. I think a pipe could have won us the game, because at least then the whole team would survive the initial magic deluge, but oh well. Game after that went just as bad, just not a night for me to beDota'ing I guess.

I had a game where I got run roughshod over the enemy team as Chaos Knight, that was fun. They'd 5v1 me and I'll kill 2 or 3 of them before I'd die.
Of course before that I got absolutely stomped as invoker. I was doing great mid but top and bottom lanes failed miserably, then their team showed up mid. This was even with 3 or so ganks by me. Sometimes you can't win em.

Well, since we're sharing, it was bad Earthshaker Tuesday for me yesterday, including one guy with no idea how long fissure was. Eventually I got into a grueling one with 3 carries, had to 1v2 as Nyx, and managed to pretend-support with gems and dust hard enough to grind out the win. It was not a fun DotA day for anyone, it seems.
First game between DK and LGD int tonight, DK had alchimist, shadow D, KOTOL, Queen of pain and Beastmaster, Vs LGD line up of Lycan, Druid, Chen, Le Sh, and Puck.
LGD int had DK on the ropes, QOP being ganked beast master losing centre lane to the bear. God damn burning on the Alchmist. DK had taken no towers LGD was sieging their base took the centre base tower roshed and came back. It should have been a easy push somehow Burnings Ali just murders everyone, and the game just turns as DK kills towers wins a couple of more team fights and eventually pushs down the middle.
I never see those sort of turnarounds in LOL. Great match.

Sounds like a pushing lineup missing its window of opportunity.
DOTA is weird in that way, lately I have heard a lot of people say that winning early is always the smarter option since a single mistake can cost you the game in a volatile late game.
That kind of thing goes in periods. Soon people will talk about how hard it is for early game pushing strats to hit their peak at the right moment, how a single mistake that stops you from taking the first rax can lose you the game too.

At least in PUGs, this is often true, but it's like herding cats. If you can rax them at 35, don't wander off and finish farming your Daedalus. The Crystalis was working, guy.

Burning's one of the super famous farmer guys in Chinese DotA, right? Like isn't he the one who got like 12 minute battlefuries on Antimage during International 2012?

I think that conversation is already happening, one of the Starladder grand finals exhibited very well how a pushing strat can go seriously upside down with a quickness.

... did his support buy him donkey and wards, and use Melty Hands?
Yeah BurNing is one of those insanely good farmers. I mean all carries are these days but he is the kind of guy that can get 220 lasthits in 20 minutes on AM, if you let him. And by you I mean a top tier pro team.
DK has played quite bad (relative to other chinese giants) lately though, they haven't quite gotten used to the fact that teams are willing to take down your tier 3s at minute 20 if you don't stop them.
In other news I'm sorry to admit that I have had some of my most hilarious games of dota on Riki. No other hero makes you feel like an asshole quite as much. http://dotabuff.com/matches/170193302

Yeah, due to Super's QOP being destroyed early game Burnings alchemist had to buy boots and utility items, no hand of midus/meltyhands, and grevling (extra gold passive) was left a lvl one for the first 20 mins. He had to roam to aid other lanes. It looked really bad but DK shadow demon pulled the clutch moves and Kotol being kotol weakened the minion waves and LGD heroes while Burning dismembered them on the high ground. DK really was being rolled and usually the lone druid face tanks everything, but that battle fury alchemist . . .
Really fun match to watch, 2nd game yeah, DK just rolled them.
Bastable on

Fuck I hate playing against Riki. If I'm support it's like, welp, no items this game, as I'll have to keep sentries stocked from the start. I don't get why people laning against him won't spend the 200 gold to ensure he can't wipe em directly after level 6. It's like a free kill if you do it right.
Edit: Ha, they even had a slardar and you still got fed.
Yeah slardar was very much a non factor that game. The necro book guys were harder to get away from.
I laned against sniper and kotl which was a bit rough at times but I think I dodged all but one illuminate and had stocked up on some extra regen with the random gold to live through sniper harass.
And I mean whenever me and venge decided to go on them there wasn't much they could do to stop us.
Void did get a bit scary (only for me, zeus just blew him up whenever he turned on MoM) but like all good rikis I showed up fashionably late to team fights and did cleanup after chronosphere had been spent.
I am hearing people on the neo gaf forums that "everyone who wants to play dota 2 is playing" becuase apparently beta keys are being handed out like candy. I strongly disagree. 3.1 million people play Dota 2 every month and league of legends has 32m monthly users. I'm not saying dota 2 can beat league of legends but it will get more people to play it once it's released. I think people under estimate the difficulties of people going to reddit and getting one of the many keys that are posted up there. Even signing up for a beta isn't something everyone does.
People on message boards forget how hardcore they are. If you're on reddit getting a beta key, you're hardcore.
