A honey and peanut butter sandwich is just about the cheapest you can get. And mmmmm, so fulfilling.

Just take the honey seperately so it doesn't soak into the bread, ruining your otherwise orgasmic culinary experience.

Are you kidding that's the best part.

I have a feeling this thread will need to go into Accumulated Forum Knowledge. It's too good to lose.

My wife grew up in England, and she kept a taste for Branston Pickle with her. We found a British foods store in our town just so we could buy the stuff.

So if you can get ahold of it, I highly recommend adding it to a savory sandwich.

I like to theme stuff, if you have a microwave available try one of these:

Italian- Toasted bread, some maranaria sauce, Pepperoni, salami, and my favorite- copocollo. Top with either Provolone or Motzarella Cheese, nuke it, Viola instant delicious. Or you co do the same with chicken.

Supreme Ham&Cheese- Ham, lots of ham, with 3 or 4 of your favorite cheeses(swiss, cheddar and american seem to meld well) on toasted bread.

Pizza- Similar to the Italian, but with your favorite pizza toppings.

Chicken is very versitale. Try BBQ, with sauces, Jerking it, anything from Buffolo Wild Wings, or een Teryake Style.

Basic? Oh, poor man, how thou art confused! Let me introduce you to the Subway Heart Attack. At your house, you have a wide variety of lunch meat, I hope. If not, get some. Look here:

    Bread
    Bologna
    Ham
    Mustard
    Bologna
    Mustard
    Ham
    Bologna
    Bread

Of course there's all SORTS of possibilities with tomatoes, chips, pickles, fries, and the Lord knows what else.

You ever try the ultimate from Jimmy Johns? Every meat, cheese, and veggie with Italian dressing and Mayo. I love it, but afterwards I always feel as if I've dropped a few months off my life.

Someone's probably mentioned it already, but hot sauce can really perk up an otherwise plain sandwich.

Could pick up Subway on the way to school?
He said modest budget. $6 a day isn't modest.

You could make tuna salad sandwiches. A can of tuna, a tablespoon and a half or so of mayonnaise, some relish, onions, and a hard-boiled egg, all thoroughly mixed together. Delicious.

Not sure if they're doing the sub of the day promo thing, but you used to be able to get a 6" sub of the day for $2.50. Now as to whether or not you consider subway a "bitchin" sandwich is a whole other matter.

around my area, the promo is 6" for 2.99 which is a total rip. Subway subs are pretty ghetto too...6 thin thin slices of meat per footlong. I'm almost never full even if I eat 2 and I'm a pretty small dude.

As a weird topping, I sometimes really enjoy tossing a few of those Baked Lays, original flavor potato chips onto a sandwich. They aren't overly salty or overwhelming but they add a nice crunch to it.

I had a friend in high school who would eat a sandwich made of chips and mayonnaise in a hard roll. No other ingredients.

That's probably as far from "bitchin' sandwich" as it gets.

Has anybody mentioned a Croque Monsieur? Pretty much exactly like a grilled cheese, but tastier somehow. Maybe it's just the way my grandfather made them. Ham, cheese, tomato, maybe a dash of herbs....delicious.

    Bitchin freakin sammiches?

    Don't mind if I do.

    The Mike Supreme

Go to the store and buy fresh pita. I prefer the kind that's not supposed to be stuffed, but it's really up to you.

    Ingredients:

Hummus (Roasted Red Pepper is my personal favorite, but experimentation is the key)
    Pickles or tomatoes
    Turkey breast or chicken breast
Cheddar or Provologne (Monterey Jack works wonders, too)

Cook a couple chicken or turkey breasts at the beginning of the week, seasoned with some mustard. Throw them in the fridge. They should last a week in tupperware, at the very least.

Each morning, take the pita bread and slather on the hummus. Slice the meat and throw that on there. Cheese comes next. Either pickles or fresh sliced tomatoes go on top. Fold the pita in half and cut into two.

    De-fucking-licious.

I like to take some a nice turkey breast and break it all up. Mix it in a bowl with some dressing ( I usually use Mayo because I love it).

Toast up some fresh bread. Spread your turkey chunks and dressing on there. Slam some red onion and green peppers in there. Lettuce is always a nice addition too.

Mmm I'm gonna go make one now.

Man, I was about to start a thread about deelicious sandwiches when I noticed this. So yeah, does anyone know how to make a good Liverwurst sandwich? This is the spreadable kind, mind you. I made one last night using liverwurst, swiss cheese and fried onion and it was a thing of beauty. I dunno any other good sandwiches to make with it though. :P

Oh, and if you see some of that salmon-flavoured cream cheese, it's great on rye or wholemeal bread with some lettuce. Actually, it's good with anything. Even by itself. Yum. :D

My grandfather made me some awesome liverwurst sandwiches when I was a kid, we're German so he's been making them his whole life.

I'm trying to remember what was on it but honestly all I remember was the liverwurst, it's pretty good just by itself or with some simple additions like you have made. I would forgo the cheese but thumbs up to the onion.

One thing I do remember though is that he didn't use Jimmy Dean liverwurst, it was some German brand in a blue packaging....I saw it at Ralph's (ubiquitous supermarket chain in California, think Safeway) though by the hot dogs so it's not all that rare I guess.

I tried this, it was awesome.
    Quick Version
Made it in about 1 minute just spread the red pepper hummus on the pita, mix some pre cooked refrigerated chicken (squares) in a bowl with yellow mustard, added cheddar cheese to the bread, added chicken to the bread, added sliced garlic dill pickles.
    Best sandwich I've ever had.

Canadian bacon and roast beef. They're super healthy, cheap, and taste delicious.

    Very delicious.

Also: If you throw an avocado into your sandwiches, they'll taste bitchin, no matter what else is in there. Hell, a sandwich with just avocado is pretty good too.

Although I don't really know if the avocados would fall on a modest "budget around your area. I live in South Texas, so they're pretty cheap. But they may be more expensive up north.

If you like tomato in your sandwiches but are worried about it making the bread all soggy, put it in the middle of the other condiments, and poke out the majority of the little seeds and juices before putting it in.
Don't worry, if you have a good tomato it wont make it too unjuicy, and at least you get the flesh and your bread isn't soggy. You could always make some sort of sauce at the end of the week with the juicy bits you poke out if you put them all in small tightly sealed container and stick it in the fridge each day.

Also I agree with the toasting. Hell, even toasting it before school and eating it cold tastes good for a changeup. Mayonaise and melted cheese when cold tastes pretty good, plus whatever else you throw in there.
Personally, if forced, I could eat just mayonaise and melted cheese toasty sandwiches hot or cold for the rest of my life. Although I probably wouldn't eat them every day or my life would be a fair bit shorter.

Man, that's even worse than Radish-Boy's contribution...

If you've got access to a sandwich press during lunch, ham+tomato+cheese or Ham+tinned pineapple+cheese or roast beef+tomato+tzatziki+cheese and variations thereof are pretty good. And don't bring fishy foods to work or school, you'll only gross everyone else out :x

Actually, the best sandwich I've had is one I buy at uni (or used to be able to buy :( ). Toasted rye with cream cheese, pesto, chargrilled kumara (red sweet potato) and some other veggies, sauteed sliced mushrooms, alfalfa. Its probably way too much work to make on a regular basis and not exactly budget-style, but hot damn they're good. You don't even notice the lack of meat, and they're really filling.
