The Life of Hendrix

I just heard on the radio theres gonna be a movie based on the life of Jimmy Hendrix coming early next year. Anyone has info on this?

I’m not sure there’s many details on it so far beyond it will star Andre 3000 of Outkast/moustache fame and that the Hendrix estate have banned the use of his songs in the film so he’ll be doing some of the covers that Hendrix did instead

I knew the Hendrix estate was being all Christopher Tolkien-y about the music, but that's good that they'll do covers that Hendrix is known for. Hey Joe and All Along the Watchtower are pretty iconic Hendrix songs. They're not Fire or Are You Experienced, but it'll be close.

All Along the watchtower is a Bob Dylan song.

I think I would support something along the lines of Marley more than a dramatization of his life. Comparing that to even a good biopic is no contest. Listening to some pop star redo Hendrix songs is pretty lame.

The Hendrix family is trying to get a park named after him, a local (well local to Washington state) rock radio station is selling t-shirts for it.

I thought he meant they were not able to use original recordings, just cover songs.
