For FI if the whole thing was just the main series, IIM tie-in, and JIM tie-in that would have been much better.
Having only read the actual JIM tie-in issues and the Terrorism Myth epilogue arc in JIM, I really look at FI as the collateral tie-in to that because JIM seemed to matter a Hell of a lot more important (and interesting) than anything else I know of that happened in FI. Did any of the fights with the actual villains who got hammers actually even end in the FI series? Did anything happen besides Nazis being Nazis?
Bucky and Thor "died" and pretty sure Tony getting drunk also happaned in the core series.
And the big Thor v Hulk+Thing fight was entirely in the core series as well.
So... what was the plan? (I almost never read event tie-ins.)
Cyclops had hundreds of contingencies to deal with Juggernaut coming after Utopia, and the issue goes through a few of them, from Pixie trying to teleport him away to Avalanche ripping the earth apart. In the end one of the plans was to have Magik take the Cytorrak power so it depowers Juggernaut, and that's how Colossus became Colossusnaut.

basically the mayor asked Cyclops if he had a "Plan B" for dealing with Juggernaut, and his reply was that he didn't, as "Plan B" implies there are only 26 plans
what then follows is a plan montage that seemed to me like Gillen was having way too much fun coming up with creative ways to combine the various X-folks abilities.
My favourite, aside from the ill-advised Adam-X attempt above was having Siryn and Dazzler work together, with Theresa providing incredibly intense sound for Alison to convert into ridiculously powerful laser beams.
Also, haemopyrokinesis sounds like an intensely specific power. On the other hand, I can see how it would help out from an evolutionary standpoint: if a predator tries to eat you, you set its blood on fire.
"Stand back, everyone! This looks like a job for Blood-Burny Man!"
Hmmm, wonder why Patriot was off the table to use? Is he in another book?

He'll be the first to die in Age of Ultron.

maybe he's slated to be in the second wave of people Arcade throws in the Avengers Arena? Pretty sure Hopeless has said new characters will be added as the story progresses.

DC and Marvel's continued inability to keep more than a single teen book on the shelves at any given time means that there are dozens upon dozens of B-list children to kill off for shock value any time one of these events rolls around.
Patriot could always be Iron Patriot too (though I mean it's gotta be Rhodey due to Iron Man 3 one would assume)
"Ride or Die?" asked Goku
"Ride or Die" confirmed Dominic Toretto, as they took off to find the Dragon Balls in hopes of reviving their friend Sonic

I am aware that I'm going to lose any respect Anti might have had for me by saying this
but I'm really enjoying Avengers Arena.
Hopeless is doing an excellent job of making me care about the characters, books 2 & 3 in particular expanding on the backgrounds of "Deathlockette" a brand new character and Cammi, who I had never heard of before this. This appreciation for the characters is double-edged though, because unlike the characters in the vast majority of mainstream superhero comics, I know they're not safe. The death in issue #1 was definitely shocking, but I wouldn't say it was done for shock value. It set the tone and the tension for the books to come, and that tension is what makes AA one of the most interesting superhero comics I've read in a good while.
It's a similar feeling to Game of Thrones, from the end of the first book/season onward. Given the knowledge that your favourite characters aren't protected by any sort of "plot armor", the story becomes much harder to anticipate, and I'm enjoying that.
I won't lie though, the last few years have been a steady descent into Kieron Gillen fanboyism for me, I have loved literally everything I've read of his
I'm also really excited for Three, the historical miniseries he's doing for Image
"I came home from these regular monthly drinks that we have in London and grabbed one of the nice hardback comics next to the bed--and in this case it was [Frank Miller's] 300," Gillen explains. "I picked it up, flipped through it, really not very much paying any attention to it. And one of the speeches about 'The only free men the world has ever known,' and literally had a moment of incandescent rage and shouted at the book, 'You hunted slaves!' And at that second the entire plot of Three downloaded, including the twist, the structure, everything."
When did submit even become an option for Ultron.
Oh, once they made him big enough to be scary. You think that the scale of things having no effect on Heroes would be a thing, but most people can't imagine getting bored with danger.
Plus, the whole thing with Age of Ultron is that he won. He beat the heroes. So if he decides he wants to just rule the world instead of raze it, that is his deal. Also it works with my theory of
Pym being behind this thing with Ultron, probably holding him back from outright genocide.

un-necessary
that's what it was
it was un-necessarily big and had an un-necessarily large amount of tie-ins and things like Tony drinking again were just un-necessary
FI was just bloated, I ain't have strong feelings about it.
Actually, that's the only part of FI I even remember.

I'm not enjoying Arena much at all. Its sorta a mess, but it has Chase and Nico and I am a gigantic tool that will buy it anyway.
