Is that like low(relatively) tech solution because ultron viruses up technology? I guess I'm asking if tony had just finished marathoning BSG before the ultron attack

I think the older costumes actually had some gimmick, where the gold pieces were sort of a flimsy material, that became form-fitting and solid, when a current was run through them.

dang, I remember seeing a page from a really old Iron Man comic that showed all this, but I can't find it now

Also, yup, Cosmic Event is coming:
I was greeted by Editor-In-Chief Axel Alonso. Turns out, I was not only going to get a chance to read Nova #1, but also #2, as well as Thanos Rising #1 and Guardians of the Galaxy #0.1 and #1. Axel and the guys at Marvel want to give the Cosmic Marvel Universe new prominence and bring it (back) to the forefront of the MU in general. And they really mean it, if the A-list creative talent is anything to go by! Axel confirmed that all three books are heading towards a major Marvel Universe Event later this year, probably late summer. We’re talking about after Age Of Ultron, and unrelated to that. And while the name of the Event and what it encompasses are still a mystery to me, I think it’s a pretty solid bet that Thanos will be at the center of it. Axel did reveal that like Avengers vs X-men, there will be a precipitating moment that will bring all the characters together and lead into the Event. And that the top secret (even to me!) Marvel FCBD book has something to do with it.

    That's from Midtown Comics' Blog.

    FCBD?

Anywho, hopefully my decision to skip Nova won't affect my enjoyment of this event.

And hopefully this event doesn't required a shitton of miniseries and tie-in issues.

I might pick up nova in trade if I her rave reviews.

So thanks to the glory of comixology, I'm reading through the back issues of Venom. I'm digging on the issues so far but I am incredibly annoyed at that Spider Island segue, mostly because it goes from a cliff hanger with a big fight to the next issue being the aftermath of the whole event. "Glad you enjoying how this character fits into this story and are all pumped for this throwdown, but now go read an entirely different book to find out what happens to the main character of the series you're reading!"
C'mon Marvel, that shit ain't cool. Tie ins are fine but don't leave an issue hanging on a cliffhanger huge fight involving the title character of the series and then skip right past it in the next issue. I know tie-ins events are hardly a new thing but I don't remember them being this jarring in the stuff I've read so far. Like in Cable and Deadpool, Cable peaces out a couple times to handle some other tie-in things (i.e. Civil War) but I never felt like I just absolutely had to go read the other related books because it flowed well enough. Here it's just a blatantly cheap ploy to get you to buy an issue from another series. Blurgh. Hopefully that was an isolated misstep.

I've also picked up a print subscription to Iron Man and got caught up with the print back issues since those were easy to order all of. The Extremis intro seemed kinda rushed but it looks like it was mostly there to give Tony an excuse to go play around with the Cosmic side of things so hopefully things pick up from the last issue I read.

On the plus side I've also started reading Hawkeye and that's been pretty fun though I see what you guys were talking about with that James Bond thing involving the tape. I'm gonna get subscriptions to both that and Venom and do my best to start gathering up the physical back issues because I'm OCD like that.

Speaking of Spider Island, is that event worth getting all the related issues for? I'm going to have to get the Spider-Man one after the Venom cliffhanger because fuck you Marvel but what about the rest of it?

Spider-Island was actually a pretty solid event, and it had a couple of neat tie-ins like Spider-Island: Avengers and Spider-Island: Deadly Hands of Kung Fu.

i figure i'll get a $6-$10 poster out of it worst case and hopefully he'll do a guardians one so I can have them next to each other on the wall. i forget what my shop has been selling his variants for. i think it was $6ish.

Spider-Island is one of the best Spider-Man tales ever. One of the top 10 for sure.

Looks like Tony's going to pull this old trick again. Classic armor seems to solve everything.

Pretty sure he's not taking any chances seeing the last time he tangled with Ultron, his then cutting-edge gear did nothing to keep Ultron from jacking his body and turning it into a T-1000 look-alike of the Wasp.

Also, I like how the next time he showed up, he goes back to just being regular old ant-headed Ultron. I wonder if he went "Well, tits didn't secure me victory like I thought they would, so I'm not bothering with them anymore"

You know, looking at that cover with Iron Man again, it just struck me that the cars in it are pretty old-school as well. Think it's a nod to the armor's age or something more?

Cho probably deserves the most 'thanks' for W-Ultron.

I've mentioned this before but Cho also has an uncanny ability to correctly guess the bra size of any woman he meets. I saw him doing it at HeroesCon and it was amazing.
