IMO, the world is ready for Dr Who to regenerate and come back as a woman. If that would not be possible under the current rules, then first apply Space Magic.
It is possible! Apparently happened to one of his old friends who regenerated.
In fact pretty much the only skin she shows is her face and upper arms. The leather corset's kind of out of place but the heels are almost sensible. Then there's also the addition of actually useful things like knee and elbow pads, arm guards, and claws on all the limbs.
Well in fairness her original costume was a painted on body suit and high heels, not exactly setting a high bar.
Man, the bodysuit is fine. It's sexy, sure, but at least it's also functional. It's pretty much the same thing Batman or Superman wear, aside from the capes. Steampunk-style absolute clevage, however, is dumb in more ways that one.
I mean at least part of the grossness here is that they looked at a skin-tight bodysuit and said, "NOT SEXY ENOUGH!"

Yeah a bodysuit on its own is fine and not any different than what plenty of guys in comics wear. They only become a problem when it's decided that in addition to skin tight clothing the woman must strike figuratively impossible or just flat out demeaning poses while wearing said skin tight suit.
And the tendency for the camera to linger on that skin tight suit in a way that we're probably not going to get for Batman.
Even though I would be delighted to play a game where Batman was treated as the walking fetish object that he is.
There's a tip for game devs looking to satirize something. Don't just lean into pre-existing stereotypes to emphasize their ridiculousness. The worst of the worst that hold to those stereotypes will not get it. Aim to make them uncomfortable instead of those being discriminated against.

This is kind of making me look at Schumacher's Batman in a whole new light

IIRC, Schumacher wanted to pattern the costume design of those films after the hyper-idealized masculinity of ancient Greek statues of the gods, so although he probably wasn't going for any shock value, that interpretation is probably pretty close.

While I'm disappointed in Soul Calibur for their female characters, they do have Voldo.
Not to mention that images that trigger lustful thoughts in young men could lead them away from Christ.
The church near my house just put in stripper poles as part of their youth outreach program.
I'm kidding, of course. My hometown is so prudish that they paid someone in a neighboring county to buy out a topless restaurant (established under false pretenses as a typical restaurant) for them and then had an impromptu celebration where the place's sign was burned near a giant wooden cross.
Removing SKFM killed the thread. Everyone else is pretty much in agreement so there isn't much left to debate until a game company makes another horrendous gaffe.
Well, to be honest the art is GORGEOUS but the character designs of two fo the females is nightmare fuel. The design of some of the males should be too but it's so common by this point it's not anymore.
That's what I meant. But maybe it's for the best the thread die down for a while. You can only ride the "male privilege" "sexy characters vs. sexy objects", etc. merry-go-round so many times before you realize that all you're doing is going around in circles.
I don't think there's much to be said, that hasn't been mentioned numerous times in the previous 65 pages.
(Not that all questions have ben answered, or that every story/aspect has been told. Just that there isn’t much new stuff.)
I doubt many are unclear on the situation, or that things need to be done ... at least not when it comes to the people reading this thread.
(Just what actually needs to be done. How to identify the problems, and their solutions.)
At the same time, a new ignorant/misogynic person is raised each second.
It's not something that goes away by itself, it is something that we all need to keep working on.
I'm not kidding, I still hear people saying things like .. how all these things fix themselves over time.
(Someone tell Rosa Parks, Gandhi, Nelson Mandela ...)
And I think it goes away as people get older. (I can look back at some pretty hair brained ideas/opinions I held earlier in my life...) But only because people call other people on stupid shit they say/do.
I guess what I'm saying is
Let's go out there and do some good, and then meet back here in ... a week?

Honestly, I'm just waiting for a female-led, if not all female, development team to make games. It doesn't even have to be overtly complex and given how much people support indie games, this is exactly the time to do so. It'd probably some sort of 50 Shades of Grey/Twilight video game equivalent that features a harem of sexy romantic Fabio types (just picking from recent popular fiction) but I'll be okay with that.
Instead all we have right now is that silly Susan Wilson kickstarter cash grab.

It is quite possibly the least self-aware post in history.

And thus the true intent of that post is revealed. I liked the "doesn't have to be overtly complex" bit. I like it when people blend subtle layers into their trolling.
A fairly good heuristic for telling if a post is going to be unconsciously sexist or not is whether it refers to some people as "females" instead of "women." This doesn't work 100% of the time but it gives the correct result in the current instance.

As I remember, Halo 4's project lead was actually a woman, so that'd probably be the biggest lady-lead game development project?

I think the usage in his post was fine. "All-female development team" does specifically sound better than "all-woman development team", which almost sounds like a euphemism
What I mean by not being too complex is that the barriers to make games is much lower now, and so it isn't a factor to discourage people to make games for a living.
What I mean by females I mean women. Or should I have said non-males?
I'm referring to Twilight/50 shades because it is objectively has a fanbase that have women as a majority instead of the other way around. Who knows, it could be on any other theme but I don't think a run-of-the-mill theme you find in current RPG/Sim/FPS/RTS/Turn based game is going to distinguish itself.
I should have been more clear but What I want to see is a game that is made from a feminine point of view or panders to the female audience, what ever that is.
Thanks for labeling me immediately btw, i totally appreciate that. To add on, here's a blurb of gaming history about Sierra Online's female co-founder being 'The Mother of Video Games'. Which means that having a female developer taking charge in the creation of video games isn't a novel concept but is one that should be brought back into the fold.

I was afraid that was the answer.
Way to completely leech out all of the joy in that character, game designers.
This is what I get for assuming a decent design means they were all decent designs.
Edit: Well, Hawkgirl and Wonder Woman also at least look decent.
