Bit of an obvious question but does the Internet work in in Wii U mode? There shouldn't be any trickery in Wii mode that would screw with your connection if it already works.
The Wii Shop Channel has always been kinda shoddy even if your connection is otherwise fine.
Yeah, it connects in Wii U mode just fine, which is why I'm perplexed.
Is your router set to N? Wii mode only works with B, G or mixed.

I've gone back and started playing Skyward Sword. Whoever earlier in the thread was talking about things being super pixelated... Yeah. Something's way up with your copy, as mine looks fine (if jaggy).
It is weird as hell seeing Nintendo trying to tell this kind of a cinematic story. I just got to the entrance of the first dungeon.
Also: Seriously. Netflix app is the best netflix app I've used on any of my devices. I just wish bringing up the home menu didn't exit out of the video.
Just want to say that you guys rock. It's nice to read a thread where people aren't drowning in negativity. While I do have my own gripes, I'm more than satisfied with my Wii U.
Also, for people having overscan issues, many TVs have a pixel perfect overscan feature that'll fix the issue entirely. You might have to dig around a bit for it though.
If youre trying to get all the big coins, NSMBU is pretty darn hard. Even with someone there in boost mode to give you blocks to jump on.
I still don't understand those @#$%ing blocks. Sometimes I get large, usable blocks that stay there for a few moments. But most of the time, it's those teeny, tiny blocks which barely do anything and help no one except those with the split second timing to jump from them as soon as they land.
Boost Mode is a joke to me unless I learn there's some sort of rhyme or reason to this.
As for the rest of the game, it seems the most inspired of the "New" games to me, from the backdrops (compared to the other three, anyway) to the boss battles to just the way Peach's castle is the goal, rather than the starting line.
Lose a life.
No, seriously: The game figures that if you are sitting at 99 lives, you are good enough to not need true boost mode. Took a bit of google-fu to find that one out when it was happening to me with my family. The tradeoff appears to be that the symbol on the block lasts longer, which means it is easier to get the boost mode enemy-killing star.
This isn't the only change to the game when you are at 99 lives; your Miiverse posts have a special tag/color for when you make a post at 99 lives. It really is seen as an elite achievement of some kind.
Also, when the boost mode is doing small blocks, you can rapid-fire them close to each other to make a platform.
That... makes a lot of sense, actually. A pity they don't explain this anywhere, at least that I've seen.
And it kind of sucks, because my wife and I share the same file, so we can't just have her play as Luigi with fewer lives or whatever, can we?
Ugh.
I guess I can die a bunch of times; lives are easy to get back, and there's not even a perk in this one like the hatless Mario in NSMBWii.
Anyway, thanks for the explanation!

And my Wii connects, so WTF won't my Wii U in Wii mode?

It may be connecting at N 5GHz, and the Wii only supports G 2/4... so it can't properly pass on the data? Possibly? I also don't know how high up the tree the Wii supports in terms of security settings.

After much pain and anguish and cupcakes, I have successfully done the Wii U transfer. I've also done the twist again, like I did last summer, but that's irrelevant.

I still can't decide if I want to transfer or not. Like.. finding out the Gamecube digital cables are so damned expensive has put a major hesitation on my getting rid of my Wii, because I absolutely love 480p widescreen F-zero GX.
I'm actually trying to decide if I want to ditch my Wii and reconnect my GameCube, or what. I have component cables for the GameCube, so...I dunno. I also have a GameBoy Player attached. So technically I regain some backwards compatibility if I reconnect my GC.

That's the conundrum I posted a few days back. I have a fully loaded Gamecube (right down to the Ethernet adapter), but I don't have the component cables. If I did, honestly I would have 0 reason for keeping my Wii. But considering the absolute highway robbery that is the Gamecube component cables on the open market, I'm hesitant to do anything.
I really don't understand why Nintendo just didn't have the digital out put out audio and video. Then they might've supported backwards compatibility with the Wii's cabling.
Call me paranoid but I'm not transferring until all of the Wii U bugs are ironed out. Even then I probably won't since it gives me a second simultaneously useable gaming and entertainment device.
Does anyone sell a spare power supply yet? I'd like to have an extra so I can move the system back and forth between the two rooms I usually play in without digging the power supply out every time.

Who should I add to my friend list? I only have Mario and N-Land at the moment but may be getting more soon.
Add me! NNID is "BigDookie". That goes for all you suckas. I suck at Black Ops and need you people to make me better, molding me into an unstoppable online killing machine.

Last thread, MNC Dover had a set rule for how to get on the list. My guess is that because Rorus is going to close the thread in the next few days, as well as the fact that we have over 90 people on it, he's probably not updating it.
I'd recommend throwing your NNIDs in your sigs. We have dedicated threads for ZombiU, Mario Brothers in general, and Sonic and Sega All Stars, all would be good places to pick up more names. If you are adding from the main list be sure to use the Miiverse friend invite, as the Friend Code invite is for when you want your profile to be private or parental controlled.

Well no-one has added me yet, so go ahead and put me on board, NNID is "johncarey13".
Just a heads up, I tried adding you a couple days ago and couldn't find you. You sure that's the correct NNID and that you've set up your friends list stuff? I'll try again tonight.

I'm up to 93 friends. Crikey! Wish it didn't have a limit of 100. In other news, I just discovered you can change the facial expression of your Mii in Miiverse posts, and that will also trigger different animations for your Mii in Wara Wara Plaza.

I hit the jackpot for WiiU games for Christmas. I now have:
ZombiU
Black Ops 2
Ninja Gaiden 3
Scribblenauts
Assassin's Creed 3
Super Mario Bros
NintendoLand
Epic Mickey 2
Nice! Have you tried NG3 yet? It's supposed to be better on the WiiU right?
It's actually really, really good... As long as you keep it on Easy. I (foolishly) attempted it on Normal difficulty but nearly broke my gamepad in the first level.
I'll have my ethernet dong by Wednesday, just need this thread to survive until then!
Also, ZombiU is really hard... I really suck at aiming.
I still need to finish ZombiU. It takes a while to get used to, and I can only handle it in short segments due to paranoia (I mean this in a good way).
(BTW I valiantly resisted the urge to make several, horrible, probably only amusing to me ethernet dong jokes. I feel that I deserve a cookie in recompense).

People complain about the lack of players that play BLOPSII online... But honestly as long as TDM/Domination/Ground War stay populated with more than 12 people then I don't care. (When I was online last night there were about 2Kish people playing)
I have Black Ops 2 and Assassins Creed 3 ordered from amazon, they were 39 bucks a pop so I just had to get it at that good price. I'm excited to play Black Op 2 with my roommate without having to do split screen, probably the main reason I'm getting it

I should probably stick that in my sig or something.
It seems to be working today.
I've changed zero settings.
Sigh.
I just added you right now, but accidently thru the "Friends List" screen instead of MiiVerse, so you gotta add my ID(RazielPrime) to make it work.
