My most tragic (and stupid on my part) death came in Buckingham when:
you're going through the walls after having collected the book from that office. You come up to a gate that is a shortcut back, but in the corner hidden from view is a zombie. Got me from behind the first time, but because I didn't see where he came from, I thought the chiming of the clock in the office was attracting zombies, so I cautiously approached the office again and, finding nothing moved at speed back to my former self only to get jumped from behind again. When I figured out where that blasted zombie was, my rifle and all my stuff was just gone. Tragic. And dumb.
that bastard right there. So I walk in new areas literally inches at a time, looking everywhere. My patience is pretty much limitless and I make sure to look EVERYWHERE. I saw him by chance, slowly creeped around the corner, and VERY gleefully dispatched that smug bastard...I don't think I've been as overjoyed to kill a zombie as that one in the whole game. That dude was just a bastard...damn ninja zombies

How is Xenoblade hardcore? It's a pretty standard RPG (but with more MMO-like aspects)
Like I said before, I'm not talking about difficulty, I'm talking about playtime. When everything you read about the game praises it's length for being 60-100 hours, it's gonna scare off anyone who's only casually interested in the genre.

It sucks you in :P Also it's not like Final Fantasy XIII where the first 40 hours suck horribly before it gets good :P
Xenoblade took me about 70 hours, and that was after doing like 23 of doing all the side quests and stuff. If I had just gone straight story the whole game it would've taken me about 55 hours I'd say. It's worth every second though.

If you skipped all the sidequests I honestly doubt it'd even be that long. Maybe 20-30 hours tops. Of course the sidequests are fun :P Especially fighting all the unique monsters.
I just had an awesome thought about Wind Waker HD. I didn't play it, but I understand Phantom Hourglass let you trace out your course on the bottom screen, and the boat would automatically sail your route. I'd love to see that implemented in WWHD.
Everyone has a price. Throw enough gold around and someone will risk disintegration.

Either you'd travel at full speed the whole time and there wouldn't be any point in the Wind Waker baton itself, or the path you drew would suddenly swing you around in a bad direction and you'd be traveling at paddling speed.

I don't expect to see any real changes in the gameplay of WWHD, but there are definitely some things they could tweak without completely overhauling the existing mechanics. If I had any say, I'd add an option to swipe a compass on the touch screen to change wind direction quickly. Have a quick baton animation, but no need to play the song every time. I would make the coasting speed a little faster, and make all the islands a little bit close together. I think there's a good compromise between maintaining how big the sea is, while cutting the (boring) travel time down significantly.

Yeah, there needs to be some sort of wind direction available via the touch screen. That was the worst part of sailing. Also have the sail and crane available at a tap of the touch screen ala OoT 3D Water Temple Iron Boots (I can't remember if WW put them out all the time or if you had to manually put them in an item slot yourself)
Yeah, Wind Waker should have had separate land and sea item load-outs.
Extra equipment slots on the touch screen should be a no-brainer. In Wind Waker, it seemed like there were always 4 or 5 items I frequently needed in any given temple, but since there were only 3 slots, I spent so much time pausing.
I played ZombiU for the first time last night. Was stupid cautious throughout the entire first part. Cheered myself for killing a zombie 1v1.
The I got to the supermarket, triggered an alarm, panicked and tried to run back,
Can't escape that way...
Tried to circle back around a van, managed to close the door instead of going through it first.
Panicked some more.
Tried to beat off 7 zombies with a cricket bat.
Realized that was a losing battle so I pulled out my gun with 6 shots and fired 4 of them into one zombie.
Welp.
Woke up as a woman in a bed somewhere and turned off the game. I'll give it another go when I have some hours ahead of me to tackle it
The panic is what gets you. I learned that you can't lose your shit or you'll end up dead.
This, so much this.
I only died twice in my full playthrough of the game and they were in times of panic. Its probably my favourite aspect of the game, that when you are clear headed and sensible the game isn't hard, but as soon as you let the panic and horror overwhealm you then you will start going through a lot of survivors. :P
Apparently all 3 versions are essentially the same game I understand? (Wii, WiiU and 3DS) The 3DS one has a 72 so I wonder what the disparity is?
I guess I'm just curious if you can have some fun with it. I can put up with some pretty bad gameplay for the license (yea yeah, part of the problem, not the solution, I get it), but I do have limits.
EDIT: Reading IGN's review it actually sounds pretty good, for what it is. If I can catch it for like $20 sometime maybe I'll pick it up. Not $50 though.

Maybe I should ask in the Transformers thread, but has anyone played the TF Prime game for the WiiU?
Not the Wii U version, but the regular Wii version. I wish I could remember what I heard about comparisons for you, though-- I remember hearing one was better than the other, and it might have been the Wii U version for more standard controls.
And yeah, you'd probably want the price to come down a bit. As for IGN's review, I think it was for the 3DS version?
Like Mega Man Legends? Then check out my story, Legends of the Halcyon Era - An Adventure in the World of Mega Man Legends on TMMN and AO3!
It's kinda ridiculous to say that one game will "save" the Wii U.
Software in general will "save" the Wii U. Once games are available that people want to play, they'll buy the system, the same way they did with the 3DS.

Man, the Zelda Miiverse community seems to be a good place to get lots of "Yeahs" on drawings :P I'm up to ~200 on one I did already.
I still wish I knew how people were obviously transferring shit from their computer - I don't feel like someone taking a screenshot of, say, Link's Awakening and then just posting it really deserves any credit :P

Yeah, that was just a really silly title to give the article. He didn't even go back to that angle until the end. C'mon, just tell me how the game was. Sounds fun? Great! Putting that in the title just distracts from a solid preview of a solid game.

Games...they're what's going to save the WiiU. It was games that saved Steam. WIthout games, the consoles are kind of like us without games: empty shells floating in the void :P

Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes is coming to the Wii U, bringing its frivolous mix of caped crusaders and block building to the Nintendo console worldwide this spring. Publisher Warner Bros. Interactive announced the news today, revealing the Wii U version will support off-TV mode in both single-player and co-op, although players can employ the GamePad to access an "enhanced" map and touch-based character selection.
The news also completes the game's console collection, having already released for DS, 3DS, Vita, PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii, as well as PC and Mac. So when the PS4 comes around, we'll know what to expect, hmm? Or not... we don't know, really.
Warner Bros. also revealed the superhero sequel is up to 3.4 million copies sold worldwide, which, while impressive, is a fair ways behind the 11 million the original Lego Batman sold.

There's no audio out right, just HDMI?
Correct, and unfortunately you can't use the old AV port for audio-only like some other consoles.
Could always spring for one of these though.

'Saving the Wii U' is kind of stretching it though. It'll push a few units, probably, but I don't think the game needs that kind of pressure.

Nintendolife also gave the game a really positive first impression. I am very excited for it.
Between that, Monster Hunter, and Need for Speed, March is shaping up to be a really good month for the WiiU. And a bad month for my wallet.
