well, they had 80+ people working on WoD

I *think* maybe 10 of those people still have jobs.

So uhhh, don't go holding your breath for WoD

also the server farm, circa 2009-2010 was rivaled only by WoW. It was ungodly huge.

if I ever somehow own a gaming company

there's a list of people on this forum I have at the fucking ready

    Miss me? Find me on:

Twitch (I stream most days of the week)

How do they cool server farms like those?

I'm really interested in the logistics that make our online game experiences seem smooth.

Yeah my sister was working on the WoD MMO.

    Not anymore she doesn't!

  • monsterrormonsterror HEY ASSBUTT Registered User regular
Wait, what does WoD stand for

Because I remember that as World of Darkness, and I got super excited for a second there.

  • TallahasseerielTallahasseeriel Registered User regular
    Yeah, World of Darkness.

But no reason to be excited.

    Seems they fired everyone!

Also I hate the way their games play.

  • TallahasseerielTallahasseeriel Registered User regular
I am thinking of picking up Secret World.

    Anyone have any thoughts?

  • StaleStale Registered User regular
    yeah, World of Darkness

I had very good friends on the senior team. I got to go in and snoop out all the concept shit and artwork and early stuff.

Had they been able to keep it going, the game would have been amazing.

variety of methods, mostly highly efficient air exchangers and rack built cooling towers.

Man I played the shit out of the pen and paper WoD, and I would have killed for an MMO. The Vampire game has been sitting on my steam wishlist patiently for years now, but it never seems to be cheap when I have money.

Yeah you don't have a lot of options here unless you have some unique geography. I know of some Toronto data centers that use cold water from Lake Ontario for heat exchange.

Those old WOW servers they auctioned off look like HP p-Class blades, nothing too exotic. But quantity is a quality all its own.

    yo dawgs

what was that game in dev that's got hacking in a real-time cityscape

they put out a gameplay reel (possibly at the last E3) that made everyone shit their pants, where the player hacked a stoplight to cause his assassination target to crash his car

I've got a PS3 that I purchased specifically for compelling exclusives

so this is fine by me

and yeah I got really excited about it

hope it lives up to the promise of that gameplay trailer

    Um

Watch Dogs is multi platform by Ubisoft.

Are you thinking of The Last Of Us? That's Naughty Dog.

    Watch Dogs
    Uncharted
    Heavy Rain

All games I would love to play
All games I won't be able to play because I don't want to spend another bunch of money on a new system.

luvthemonkey is right, according to Wikipedia

and ubisoft is not known for exclusives (quite the opposite)

so I'm inclined to think that's accurate

  • monsterrormonsterror HEY ASSBUTT Registered User regular
I had heard that it was Naughty Dog and that it was exclusive.

I haven't seen the video in a while.

Yo @Moriveth, I just started another Dark Souls character a day ago, so I'm still at a low soul level.

If I'm ever on Steam when you're ready to face a boss, just message me and I'll jolly co-op with you.

They showed another video of the Last of Us that was the exact same scenario played completely different with a different outcome

Also it comes out in like 3 months

I trust Naughty Dog to make it work, they have enough talent on their team to pull off something like that.

Watch Dogs is still an unknown for me.

  • ShortyShorty touching the meat Intergalactic Cool CourtRegistered User regular
oh hey metal gear rising is coming out next month

    that will be ridiculous

  • BroloBrolo Broseidon Lord of the BroceanRegistered User regular
I'm really hoping they fully embrace the stupid with revengance.

I mean they're using the term revengance so that's a pretty good indicator,

but I really hope they don't even try for faux-gravitas the way the MGS series did, instead just go for balls to the wall action all the way through.

Rising is something I'm $20 interested in.

I will be poor enough at the gameplay that I can't justify paying more for that, at least.

  • Sweeney TomSweeney Tom Registered User regular
Revengeance is a game I will be buying day one.

Even though I'm going to suck at the gameplay, it looks like so much fun.

  • ShortyShorty touching the meat Intergalactic Cool CourtRegistered User regular
I very much doubt I will get it day one

I can rarely justify spending that much on a game

  • Charles KinboteCharles Kinbote Registered User regular
    So I bought dredmor

It's pretty fun, although the humor is more grating than funny

Same goes for the fact that it keeps crashing and locking my computer up

I'm just hoping that a decent amount of the stupid fun is not part of the 20 hours of cutscenes.

so being the commander in NS2 seems like a thankless task

which I will never have to deal with because I tried command mode in training and the UI is awful is my excuse (I do not like rts games)
