Ok I haven't seen Death Proof yet but the impression that I have is that it's really not that great so whatever

My super important Tarantino movie rank inks that everyone has been dying to see

    Pulp Fiction
    Django Unchained
    Inglourious Basterds
    Reservoir Dogs
    Kill Bill
    Jackie Brown
    True Romance

Only one if them that I didn't love was true romance

I think death proof is good while grind house isn't? I have seen them.

    also also

I'm reading David Brothers' pieces about the movie

and I may be kind of thick, but I just now realized that naming your band Lady Antebellum is kind of ignorant and unconsciously racist!

especially when I looked up on Wikipedia where they got the name

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lady_Antebellum
On the BBC Radio 2 Drivetime Show August 9, 2010, the band explained to the host, Liza Tarbuck, that the name Antebellum comes from when the group were photographing "antebellum" homes. While photographing the houses one of the group said that there's a great band name in there, and they adopted the Lady Antebellum name shortly after.

I would like kill bill a lot more of the action scenes were spread a little more evenly across both halves

Part 1 could've done with a little less action and part 2 could've done with a little more

Having just rewatched Kill Bill, I'd probably put it as my least favorite Tarantino movie(s) (though I haven't seen Grindhouse). For some reason, Tarantino's stylish/outlandish dialogue comes off as very stilted in a lot of that movie, whereas his other movies have dialogue that's just as stylish but sounds much more natural. I can't really explain it.

can we talk about how criminal it is that neither Jamie Fox nor Samuel L. Jackson got Oscar nominations for this movie

well it was written and filmed as a single movie, it wasn't until post production that he split it into 2 halves.

It'd be fascinating to see the uncut version but I think the split works because the tone is completely different for each movie

Weird that From Dusk till Dawn isn't on that boxset. Tarantino wrote the script. Its not as good as his best but its pretty fun.

I know this is said to be the case

And I heard about Kill Bill for years before it was ever split up into two

But the tonal differences between the two movies make it so damn sensical for it to be two movies

I think if they were combined the pacing and mood would have felt all over the place

    Yeah I know

Just by the end of part 1 I was getting a little bored of the back to back to back action sequences and it would've been nice if they were broken up a bit by some of the types of scenes in part 2

Death Proof has one of the best car chase scenes ever filmed in it. Personally, whatever flaws there are in the first half are completely made up for in the second.

so here's something relevant to this movie

Fox News: Public School Teaches “White Privilege” Class
A school district in Wisconsin said they will review a high school diversity class that exposed students to radical leftist thinkers and promoted a critical race theory that alleges white people are oppressors.

The “American Diversity” class was taught to students at Delavan-Darien High School in Wisconsin, Fox News has learned.

“They’re teaching white guilt,” one parent told Fox News. “They’re dividing the students. They’re saying to non-whites, ‘You have been oppressed and you’re still being oppressed.’”

Andrea Jackson - yes ... you are right that MANY WHITES that normally would not QUALIFY have been either KICKED OFF THE JOB or have to wait for a BLACK QUOTA to be filled and EVEN THEN , employers are incentives to hire minorities cause them to DISCRIMINATE AGAINST WHITES . And as far as being WHITE ONLY program ... that is a bold faced lie ! I know someone who couldn't even get in line because the BLACK INTAKE SCUMBAG told her she wasn't next and they were about to close . Don't even get me started on the discrimination against the FOOTBALL , BASKETBALL AND EVERY OTHER BLACKBALL THAT WHITE GUYS HAVE BEEN PUSHED ASIDE FOR . The only " NARROW MINDED RACIST PERSON" , HERE IS YOU . And as long as BLACKS keep schlepping around like 500 yr old abused slaves , that never got a sugar cube , BLACKS will continue to be exploited . NOT BY WHITES but by your own skin worshipping , VICTIM mentality . There is HUGE money in RACISM AGAINST WHITES ... All one has to do is ask, "WHERE WOULD AL SHARPTON , JESSE JACKSON , FARRAFREAK , AND THE LUNKHEADS OF THE BLACK CAUCUS BE BE TODAY IF THEY WERE NOT KEEPING THE BLACK POPULATION LATHERED UP ?" .... Under the bridge with a cardboard box and a tin cup , that's where .

We really need to do something radical. Congress should defund the public education system until all "subverters" can be identified and executed. The First Amendment DOES NOT protect traitors and subverters. There are millions of them now!!!! Hundreds in congress alone!
If course trying to do that will meet with the R word, a powerful social control tool used to hinder White people in speaking their minds and acting according to reason.

ASIA FOR THE ASIANS, AFRICA FOR THE AFRICANS, WHITE COUNTRIES FOR EVERYBODY!
    How is this not genocide:
White countries are being flooded by non-whites. Whites are told to be TOLERANT. Whites are forced to integrate.
With assimilation we see the extinction of one race only, the White race. Its not funny, not comedy, its white genocide.
    Anti-racist is a codeword for anti-white.
The single most amusing element about the White Privilege TACTIC is that it's a tacit admission that the White Race IS better than other Races. Whites aren't sayng this, but resentful, malicious non-Whites ARE. FYI - to any-one that disputes what I've just written - study countries around the world, accordng to standards of living. The Forbes Best and Worst list sort of thing. A STARK pattern emerges immediately, for those that are honest enough to SEE. And for every-one complaing ABOUT Whites - why do so many people around the world vote with thier feet? People want IN to White Nations. No one is trying to break IN to Mali, or Ethiopia, or Somalia. And lest ANY-ONE offer remarks about that - Africa possesses half the most arable farmland in the world, as well as being wildly rich in mineral resource.s Why are Black Africans STARVING, in Africa? When Zimbabwee was Rhodesia, and run why WHITES, Rhodesia was the bread basket of Africa. The WHITE FARMERS of Rhodesia fed their people, and exported food. Then Mugabe the formeruniversity professor was installed as Big Chief, and had the White farmers SLAUGHTERED (a 100% consistent pattern, when Whites are INSANE enough to allow Blacks into our world) - and now.....Zimbabwe. So Whities - why are you allowing your own people to be insulted, degraded, and abused by non-Whites? Get over your delusions of "Universal Brotherhood" You are allowing your own kind to be systematically genocided. WHY? There is nothing good, noble, or Godly about doing this. This is the ultimate in evil. They hate you because you ARE White - and they are NOT. So learn to deal with reality, and embrace your own.

But I have a sneaky suspicion about how the majority of people commenting on that article voted last November.

Well, in this case, if it's not a third party its a gimmee. If you're a hardcore racist, and you have a choice between a black guy and the whitest man alive, doesn't take a genius to guess how you vote.

Of course, this is reminding me of an early American history class I had, where the teacher was racist against white Europeans, at least in a historical context.

Then I have this, where we're informed, in all seriousness, that human sacrifice wasn't that big a deal when the Aztecs did it, Thomas Moore was inspired by the Mayans, everyone in Europe lived in fear of the pope at all times and treated everything as a religious matter, and the Pilgrims played soccer with the heads of the natives they massacred on the first thanksgiving.

If it treated everything in reverse culturally it would have been one of those racist as hell history books about the march of white progress or something equally terrible and culturally damaging. As is, it was just weird as hell.

(I had an African American history class after, where the teacher runs down a laundry list of historical ills in a "These are the facts. People did horrible things because X Y and Z, which lead to A B and C. White people were in power, so they did the worst things for these understandable but horrible human reasons." It was a really good class.)

but yeah, I'd recommend giving it another shot. It's a very good movie that is also probably the least "Tarantino" of them. Straightforward and lacking the narrative conceits that are kind of par for the course for his films, though I think it lines up with Django a bit in that regard

it felt kinda like the odd movie out in his filmography when I saw it a year or two ago
