@Spoit is awesome. Not content to give me a give last week, he throws King's Bounty my way. Although his version was composed of the finest ones and zeroes, I actually have it already in the form of an archaic, circular disc like thing, if you can believe that.

Super classy all the same! Thanks, Spoit!

I'm kind of confused about why they're putting super obscure indie games on flash sale when we still haven't seen any sale on New Vegas, the GTA games, Legacy of Kain, BG&E, and a ton of other fairly popular or new games.

This may the the first sale without a major Fallout franchise sale, but there's still a week or so to go.

The Legacy Of Kain games just showed up on Steam and are already 50% off, so perhaps Eidos doesn't think they need the extra push.

Because indie games are just as good as the games you listed and there's no reason to have more sales on the games you listed than on indie games.

    YES!!!!

I got the installer working in Steam. One of two things were the problem, Avast Virus Scanner or some files in the steam folder and a bunch in my system folder (other drive) were fragmented all to hell.

After defragging the shit out of it and getting rid of that shitty Avast, things are working smoothly!

Now I just need a virus scanner that isn't an incessant pain in the ass

If so, there's no reason to go back to 1, except for completionist's sake. You have so much to look forward to with Brotherhood, though.

True. Sorry If I came off as dismissive of the games they have in the latest flash sale, I'm just surprised that Valve is putting less exposed games in their sale slots rather than going with big franchises. Port Royale 3 actually looks pretty interesting, if expensive.

just a heads up seeing that you are using avast. Make sure that the entire steam folder is listed under the exceptions. ( You have to do this manually) This goes for most virus scanners but from what I have seen avast is piratical about it.

They are probably saving the rest of the big franchises for the 7 or 8 days that remain. We're still only half way through the sale.

Just mentioning, Port Royale 3 is a fantastic game.

You start with your Sid Meier's Pirates! style trading, eventually you start buying factories, farms, and renting out land for homes. Soon, you work to control entire colonies as you create large naval forces to raid and destroy other standing in your nation's way.

Interestingly, when you become governor, you are handled in a somewhat extra-national way. You are like a nation of your own with close relations to the mother country.

Also, it is really cool to make a trading run from the gulf coast and Florida, all the way down to South America. Lucrative too.

SUPER DISHONORED GIVEAWAY WHATEVER I NAMED THIS I CAN'T REMEMBER: RESULTS

Thanks for sending in the Revenge poems, guys. I really enjoyed reading them. We've got some creative folks here. Corvo would be proud of all of you, but unfortunately I only have one key, so I had to choose.

The one I chose as the winner was by @Corpekata

Honestly, if Ubisoft hadn't been so spectacularly lazy and included subtitles in Assassin's Creed 1, I would have played it at least once all the way through, if not twice, since I absolutely love the setting.

Yes. Please see my above recommendation.

It is a step up in detail and difficulty from Sid Meier's Pirates. It uses the same engine and system as their Patrician 4 game, but has all that that improved in their addon and the wisdom of that post-mortem.

Basically, imagine an awesome ship trading game, mix in some awesome simcity-style stuff, and a healthy dose of capitalism.

It is a blast. And there are so many ways to mess with enemies.

Is it still a complete sandbox the way 2 was?

I'm tempted, but I also have Commander: Conquest of the Americas and East India Company sitting unplayed in my backlog and they seem very similar.

Oh well, they've been doing a lot of repeats this sale. It'll come around and I can serve the Newell then.

    An unsolicited recommendation -

The Prototype games are both very fun if you want some really fast and fun open world destruction and mayhem. You play a straight up monster and the game reflects that with all the powers and mutations you can get. Dropkicking helicopters, elbow-dropping tanks, ripping people in half, hijacking a helicopter using your weird tentacle arm just to crash it all without a scratch, it's all there. It's just pure fun without any sort of good plot or writing.
