Not sure what item level that soul mantle is but you may want to check the wiki and see if its even possible to 6 link. I dont remember the formulas but I seem to recall that the chances are very directly linked with item level and quality.

The best ones on the trade forum I could find were 5 link 6 socket.
Thanks for the tip about link limits. I did not know those existed.

Pick up an item and type, "/itemlevel".
Assuming you don't know this already.
It's a fine point, but an important one, since item level (not to be confused with requirement level) determines things like the enchantments an item can roll and maximum sockets an item can have.

Did not know that. My sol mantle is level 69. heh.
By the way, races inevitably have a blank ring, belt or other doodad with alternative art as a reward. This may not seem impressive until you realize this reward is item level 100.
Currently, the races are offering a blank Ruby Ring of this variety. I got an Onyx Amulet of this variety from a previous race.

If you bought a 5 linked, don't try to 6 link it. Buy a cheap one and try with that, and use the 5 link during that process - since that process could, if you are unlucky, be very lengthy.

yeah, they're increasing 4 and 5 link
edit - they're targeting the exact area where I stopped on my first two characters and am slowing down on my third so I'm pretty happy. can't wait for it to come out.
edit2 - just recolored an item's sockets because I wanted to give it 1 shot, just sold a r/b/g linked so I had a gem in my inventory, not squirreled away yet, and it worked. unfff.
If I take blood magic and reduced mana costs of skills like Arcane Efficiency, does it still apply? Does it apply to reserving mana as well, from auras?
Yeah, I should have just googled that. It does apply.

I think what makes me the happiest about this game is that the currency drops even at level 1 are useful in the end. So even if I waste a ton of time trying different builds, as long as I just currency dump (And store of any good linked stuff/gems/whatever) in my stash I'm really just making my long term job easier when I finally decide on a good build and need to gear up.

this is one of my favorite parts of this game, you can fuck around on alts and earn valuable currency
though the gear won't be great I guess
Should be on for a little bit tonight. Alt-itis in full effect in this game. Witch, Shadow, Ranger and 2 Templars. Highest character is only 38 (a templar, added info to the spreadsheet).

I have one of each class but only got my third to the 40s... previously had a templar and a shadow.
but this is the first time I actually got over the little hump of the early 40s (mentioned earlier). got the links I desperately needed (just 3 green but I didn't have it and it made things hard on my mana) and 44 got me a new bow I'd been waiting to reach since 41 that almost doubled my dps. looooooooving it right now. threw more money at the devs, even.
ice shot ranger, ice shot with lmp and mana leech right now. without either mana runs out way too fast but now I'm doing enough damage to leech the mana I need. pierce passive + projectile weakness curse gives almost 100% pierce (there's a pierce gem I may switch to when I get the gear) and damn, it's just fun.

Moving over to shadow is a bad move if what you want to do is dual spork.
Serious critique?
Important emphasis:
Support gems will give you more damage than flat damage nodes will.
6% increased damage per point is a drop in the bucket.
It's okay if it's along the way, not really worthwhile though if, for example, it's not directly in the way and you're already taking dozens of points in enhancing your build crit-wise.
While the game is not quite as path-of-life-nodes as it used to be, you should at least be getting some of the basic defenses in your way. Most especially if they're practically sitting at your start. You're basically ignoring in-built class defensive features that are cost effective for you to get, by virtue of your starting position. (Even if you're going Chaos Inoculation later, you buy life early on then respec out of it when you're ready to swap over.)
Also keep in mind that 100% increased crit chance isn't as large as it sounds. Spark has a base crit chance of 4%, meaning that a 100% increase bumps that chance up to 8%. You basically ran all the way down to Shadow's crit tree for another additional +4% crit on Spark, far away in the opposite direction of dual totems. (And incidentally just passed the Bloodthirst tree along the way that accomplishes much the same thing for fewer points.)
Are these microtransactions seriously one-use at a time effects?
Seriously?
When some of them are twenty fucking dollars?
When one makes one's money on aesthetic features, one needs to limit the number of uses of those aesthetic features. If one effect could be used on every weapon of every character, then players only need to buy one. The game is free to download and free to play. They have to make their money somehow. So, I do not mind their being one-use.
Actually, I ended up buying the weapon effect from a lower supporter pack, and using both on my daggers. Looks p. neat

What sort of passive setup would you suggest? My build is not that far off from many of the dual-spark builds I see, but it's possible that I used a collection of shittier builds to produce my own.
The multi-totem passive was not, I thought, necessary once I obtained soul mantle. Would it be sensible to pick it up for the totem support passives, and then use 3 totems?
Are the life / survival skills necessary in softcore? If I am only farming docks, do I still want to dump points into life?
Edit: I greatly appreciate the feedback and critique. I do not mean to come across as, "I have been playing this game for a week so obviously know everything!" Rather, the passive setup I use came from somewhere, so I am curious as to why the builds I found on forums were so very, very wrong.

I may end up getting the regal ^^
what exactly are you running with?
50 is min to be 6 linked
In terms of gear or what?
Not sure of how I can link my character. Is there a way?
I bought it 4 linked, and spent yesterday trying for 5. Ended up with 3.
Today's goal is to 5 link it, and then eat the docks like a sporkin' fiend.
You can log into your account, go to your character and pull up their passive tree. Just send the link for that tree.

i am of the opinion you shouldnt bother trying to 5l and 6l things, but rather that you should farm and just buy the item linked the way you want it

Either get the item with the links you want, then put the stats on it (alterations+regal+exalted or alchemy+chaoses+exalted)
Or get the item with the stats you want, then try to link it.
Let 'em eat fucking pineapples!

My main skill link is Soul Mantle: Spark + Item Quantity + Item Rarity + Faster Casting
I also have arc + mana leech + item rarity in one of my mainhand weapons. Other than that, it's just the curse that lowers lightning resistance.
Sure. But 5 and 6 link things are very expensive, while 4 link is far less expensive.
though the gear won't be great I guess it is usually far costlier to make a 5 or 6 link than it is to buy one outright
and it's random even then! so that's why you see all those people doing 6l lottos and rewarding tons of exalts
I am not sure about this at all though

This is how it works. a 6s is more likely to 5l than a 5s is.

Man you're going to die from being sneezed on.
This is why we don't play hardcore...and just farm docks.
When are you going to get double totems?

They are not one use.
You can remove the effect to get the token back, so you can put it on something else.
He did not mean "one time use" he meant "one use at a time". And, yeah, you can only put the enchant on one weapon at any time.
I made the same mistake you did when I first read his post.
