okay yeah you get this challenge laughably quick just rocketing banshees on platinum
got an eagle X for my "trouble" which works for me; i've now maxed out two promo weapons and increased my odds of getting the one i actually want (the hurricane)
I wonder how Gentleman Shep would handle Tuchanka?
I don't know about the third one, but Fancy Effect II was such a good game. I really liked the part where Nigel Shepard took the HMS Normandy II to Omega. We had to fight all the mercenary groups: The Naughty Knaves, The Dandy Boys, and The Azure Suns to save our dearest friend and companion Reginald Garrus Fowleye III.

Its funny to hear you talk about the Hurricane.
I have a Hurricane IX and I barely use it compared to the other promos.
and yeah, pretty easy challenge. I probably would've gotten it in one gold game if it hadn't been one of those affairs where everybody is awful and I carry the group to wave 8, then sadly die and the group wipes immediately.
also I have a million credits saved up again

Well...honestly...the hurricane isn't that impressive.
If I want to shoot stuff at close range I would use a shotgun. Pass that I like guns that actually hit stuff.
I mean its nice for having a decent weapon that doesn't fuck over your cooldowns but that's about it and even then there are other weapons that do that too. And even with most of the power classes I would still rather use something more accurate.
I wonder how Gentleman Shep would handle Tuchanka?
He'd give everyone a sound thrashing, then pursue the standard Imperial policy for dealing with aborigines and hand out smallpox blankets. Then he'd claim the unsettled wilds of Tuchanka for Queen and country.

Civics is not a consumer product that you can ignore because you don’t like the options presented.
I think I should have started playing Gold sooner.
There are actually fewer wipes in Gold pugs. On Silver everyone just runs around doing their own thing and then suddenly everyone happens to die at the same time. Also the Huntress's boss-melting abilities shine (more) on Gold.
Challenge gave me a Crusader. I'd like to put it to use, but I can't figure out what class to use it on.

crusader works well on classes that dinnae care about cooldowns and could use something for long range fights eg krosent, destroyer, non-sr infiltrators. might even be worth sticking it on your huntress if you enjoy the class, see how it suits her. careful with the aiming tho, the crusader is hitscan but actually fires where the crosshairs were 0.2s ago rather than where they are when the trigger is pulled for some reason. makes it really tricky to pull of precision shooting on a moving target + lag fucks you up even more than usual. it isnae a bug apparently, its designed to work like that for some incomprehensible reason. still a great gun tho, once you get the hang of it
the hurricane does more single clip dps than any SMG or pistol, every AR other than the harrier, and even a fair number of shotguns (and it reloads quick.) You're never going to snipe with it but with the stability mod it isn't so bad at medium distance (especially against larger targets.) In terms of damage output per weight it's probably the best gun in the game aside from the piranha.
It honestly kind of surprises me that it hasn't been nerfed, and I suspect that's only because not that many people have high ranks of it yet.

I think one of the devs on the forums called it a bug. Said it was a low-priority fix though, and unlikely to happen.

Well, Thing is. Yeah, it does really great raw damage, but the way the bullets spread, not all of them are going to hit the enemies head if you aren't right on them. I mean more will if you're in cover, but I don't really use hard cover like that.
If you're scoring mostly headshots, there are plenty of other guns that can do damage comparable to the Hurricane. And the have the added bonus of actually hitting past midrange.
I mean I'm not saying its a bad gun, because it isn't. Just not my cup of tea. Nor do I really feel its anywhere near being the best gun in the game.
Hell, I wouldn't even use it without a stability mod.

yeah, i have no trouble hitting with it at most ranges
if you really want to see something obscene, slap it on a geth infiltrator with a recoil mod and stability consumable
once you throw hunter mode into the mix, it's basically a laser
hurricane GI is by far the most obviously ridiculous setup i've ever used
Blowing up banshee's just got me another rank of Hurricane. Yeah!
I ended up pulling out rockets whenever I saw more than two of them grouped together. Of course, I saw like one from the rest of the damn team for the entire match but they sure liked using up those medigels. I'm kinda annoyed I ended up having to use one because I misjudged my run back to the extraction, where of course they had decided to camp for wave 11.
I picked up the Wraith last night. I figure I'll take it out for a spin. Super low weight for such a high damage. Does it need a smart choke to be effective?
This is going to sound like an odd thing to say. Especially given that I expect to be 6/9 Shotgun progress before the weekend is over.
But: I just don't get shotguns for the most part.
On the light end, they feel like overweight and underpowered pistols. On the heavy end, they feel like scope-less underpowered sniper rifles.
I'll be happy to going back to using Talons and Hurricanes on my Vanguards, and Sniper Rifles on my Infiltrators.
Well you have a bit of a point. On the light end, outside of the Piranha which is its own beast, most of the light shotguns are outperformed by heavy pistols. Especially if the Talon is your heavy pistol of reference.
On the heavy side, shotguns are like scopeless sniper rifles. Though I wouldn't call them underpowered. I think the damage is comparable, though it used to be more in the favor of shotguns before they relaxed the shieldgate rules a bit.

5 silver pub mission, 3 rockets, and 1 medigel later, challenge complete. I started off using a Kro Shaman with an acolyte, which was fun, but wasn't resulting in the kind of killing goodness I craved. Switched back to my geth soldier specced for maximum possible flame thrower damage... there's something beautiful about being able to flambe a brute in one flame thrower shot.
so there is another unsubstantiated alleged maybe possibly probably not leaked dlc description on reddit, this time for sp dlc
disnae sound very plausible to be honest but i thought folk might at least be interested in knowing the rumour exists
I find it implausible that Commander Shepard would be teaming up with a member of the Penny Arcade forums.
Actually, several PA members have been mentioned in ME games.
Yes, I am aware. But I find it implausible that Commander Shepard would be teaming up with a member of the Penny Arcade forums. Not just mentioned in some text on a terminal or codex entry, but a voiced and animated character.
I'm not saying that it would be a bad thing. I think it would be great if Jordan showed up in the DLC, but I find it implausible!

PSPs have been good to me this weekend. I picked up the N7 Paladin this morning. I'll reserve judgement until I get my Sentinels back up to level 20 (working on the promotion challenge). Do we have a repository of good builds from PA folks somewhere? I always feel silly asking for build advice every time I unlock a class.

With the special talent of 'rage casting' which allows him to cast incenerate/inferno grenades with his spare hands while still using flamer after burning 3 enemies alive.
Then you get four of them and walk slowly towards the opposition.
Speaking of though, we did two themed rounds tonight:
4 Krogan VS Cerberus scumbags. Went fine, shockingly Krogan are hard to kill, not so shockingly all of our 8 or so deaths were to Phantoms sync killing the fuck out of us. There was also the brave moment when an entire Krogan squad valiantly attempted to melee a turret and were gunned down. We didn't let that happen twice.
4 Geth VS Reapers on Condor... yeaaaaaah, not so good. Though GI with Hurricane has being demonstrated to me and now I want the gun EVEN MORE.

Seriously game, seriously. I don't dislike the gun but please?
Crusader is good on anyone because the gun is solid, if you can land the shots it'll shine on a volus adept for all the gun cares.
Traditionally it's an infiltrator gun though IMHO.

Might try Valk GI and see how that goes. In theory it should be pretty solid.
