Anyone know any deals on Dead Space 3? According to Cheap Ass Gamer, http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=336905, you can get $20 credit off for preordering. (EDIT: Actually this deal seems dead)

GMG also is selling it, and there are usually a few coupons floating around.

Its going to be hard to do a barebones run without using all these additional suits from the beginning.

I just ordered the Limited Edition, so thats The Witness Suit, First Contact Suit and also the N7 from my Mass effect save available at the beginning, might seem like a tough choice if it wasnt for the fact that I love N7.

Just use what ever suits you.

I could see jumping in as Carver with the N7 though, since he's more military than Isaac is.

The best irrational reply there before I just gave up reading the comments:
Pretty soon games will be split into chunks. Pay £20 for the main menu, £10 cost per campaign mission. £5 to use the options menu. Another £30 for multiplayer and then some useless ancillary stat tracker for £50 a year subscription.

Disturbing content for Dead Space? Whatever could that be?

Also, just ordered Martyr, Catalyst and Liberation, all set to arrive on Tuesday.

Also also, I missed the Security Suit in my first DS2 playthrough. Had to wait until chapter 8 to get a new RIG... That made the game so much harder.

I've been watching a bunch of monster-y horror films to get myself pumped for Dead Space 3. So far I've gone through The Thing, Slither, and The Mist. I haven't watched The Mist in a while and the ending hit me like a sledge hammer. UGH

Besides Alien and Aliens, are there any other films you guys could recommend that are in a similar vein?

The ending to The Mist is MGS3 levels of depressing...

V/H/S is one of the best fucked up horror films I've seen in a while. I recommend checking it out. It does have monsters in it, but it might not be exactly what you're looking for. Still recommend it, though.

Vague memory of the storyline (and spoilering it is way overboard for the quality of the writing), but
wasn't the basic premise "black hole blah blah blah crossing into hell blah blah blah Devil escaping hell blah blah space"?
Because that's what I remember. A reeeaaally kooky movie, to say the least. The writing was something like C-grade movie fare, with expensive visuals and set design.

Actually, I'd probably be better off just imagining I never saw it. :P

It honestly wasn't the worst sci-fi movie I've ever seen, it was just pretty off the wall. Though I have seen (and enjoyed) some amazingly bad movies, so that doesn't set the bar really high.

Ugh. I saw our own Lewie tweeting this piece saying "they're going to sell the end of the game as DLC", which cites this source where he actually says
And the team is hard at work on a top secret additional story that will be coming in a few weeks.

That's all. Absolutely no mention that it's anything to do with the ending of the game, or content that follows the ending of the game. They sold a parallel story DLC for 2, and see no reason to think this isn't the same kind of thing.

Basically it made me really angry to follow this chain of stupidity to the "THEY'RE HOLDING BACK THE END AND SELLING IT TO YOU LATER" scaremongering just to try and rile up people because someone has a problem with the publisher.

I think its more annoyance that some gamers think they're buying a full product but all this additional DLC makes them feel they're missing parts of the game.

No company would sell the ending to a game as DLC. It would be PR suicide.

And no Broken Steel from fallout 3 does not count. There is a full and self contained ending without it.

    Of late?

I've been playing games since 1985 and the only thing that's changed is that the internet has allowed everyone to bitch together and publicly, instead of in angry letters to Nintendo Power or at school.

  • PreacherPreacher Registered User regular
And thats a dumb attitude with regards to DLC. DLC means after you finish the base game, if you like it, there is more to play. See thats entitlement "I bought x game I should get everything they do with it" thats crap and in no other purchase you make is that a thing.

The only reason I don't buy DLC separately (on the whole) is that I think its better value to wait for a GOTY edition.

    But DLC is good.

Micro-transactions.....eh depends on how its implemented. It looks like in DS3 its not going to be game breaking. The game is completely viable without ever using micro-transactions.

The Tunnel is pretty good, as is Absentia. Chernobyl Diaries MAY do it for you as well. And check out The Host, a Chinese (I think, maybe Korean) film about a big gruesome monster. Not very scary but still pretty cool.

Ubi did it. Remember that PoP reboot that was so good that two years later they went and released a game from the series it was supposed to replace? Yeah.

I mean, the DLC was named Epilogue.

Anyways, I wonder how much of the target audience for DS3 is made up of all of the people complaining on the internet, because i'm sure the game will still make some nice sales. People are even complaining about the ending a week before its been released (supposedly it's been leaked).

Ehh I don't really think this has to do with EA. This has been a standard complaint about DLC since DLC became a thing.

This just happens to be published by EA, so you get a double heaping of stupid.
