[PA Comic] Friday, January 4, 2013 - A Timely Communique
A comic where the joke finds humor in consent rather than rape! Excellent work.
Or a comic where 'no' means 'yes'. Your mileage may vary.
I get that they're pointing out the absurdity in that so much of the advice given is common sense, but I wish the news post clearly addressed that. My twitter feed is already blowing up with unhappy folks.

To be fair, explained satire is not nearly as funny as just plain satire. My twitter feed is also blowing up, but I'm just ignoring them this time.
Frankly, the fact that they made PAX booth babe free (and as someone who went to E3 several times in the early 2000s, with his girlfriend, I completely understand why) should more or less unequivocally show how they feel about the objectification of women period.
I'm almost afraid to ask, but..what do some people find so offensive about this comic?
Other than Gabe's plump delicious ass?
I believe this comic is in reference to a video or videos about "How not to be a convention creeper" directed at males that go to conventions and their actions in regards to female cosplayers/booth babes. Some people feel comedy and levity should never EVER come anywhere near women's issues or how they wish to be treated.... unless a male is the butt of the joke.
While that Convention Creeper video is kinda silly, there are unfortunately cons out there that contain a large number of attendees who lack the common sense it contains. There's less of that kind of harassment at the more mature cons like PAX, but I've heard a lot of horror stories from cons with a younger/less mature audience. Tycho's assertion that these attempts to modify actual behaviour with gentle humour cast all men as slavering and beastly is absurd. If you have the common sense to treat women with respect, you're not the intended audience. Unfortunately, the intended audience exists, as plenty of cosplay ladies (not to mention regularly-dressed ladies) who have been to gaming/geek events can attest.

As a lady, I've fortunately never had to deal with con creepers
That being said, I love this strip (and I loved the Dickwolves strip when it came out). I guess I can see why people would be up in arms about it but I love ridiculous premises like these (when I first read the Dickwolves strip, I thought it was a reference to WoW and Worgen)
The joke is that Gabe is a colossal deviant. Nothing more, nothing less.
The joke is that he's due for a prostate exam, sir. Gabe and I are roughly the same age and it's patently clear that the 'finger all the way up the butthole' is nothing more than a routine procedure to determine whether or not there is excessive swelling of some-thing.
Also, this is my berfday comic and it is uniquely appropriate because I am 35 and had to do the checkup which involves fingers and butts.
sidenote: Do not crack jokes about prison sex while getting your prostate examined; the giggling of your doctor is quite uncomfortable as her finger vibrates in your butt.
Not that I would know or anything.

Maybe I want the finger to vibrate?! Did you ever think of that!
No outside knowledge or inferred information is required to get this joke. If you did not get it, that is fine. You will probably get the next one.
Right gabe asking for a finger up his ass is so kooky and random *holds up spork*
having listened to the podcast about the Disney worker getting harassed just made it more confusing as to wether something had actually happened or if I was seeing more of that pattern of potential jokes from the podcast being made into strips 6 months after the fact.

Dickwolves was a reference to every WoW quest that has you rescue X people from a prison/old god mine/enemy faction concentration camp/etc while there are clearly 5X worth of excusable people at that location (if nobody else is doing the quest at the time)

...so now you're complaining about having too much external information?

I know it was. My point (which I wanted to explain but didn't know what to say at the time) was that as an ardent MMO gamer, I could immediately see the reference and didn't know how it could be interpreted as anything but what it was. It's the same as this one - an extreme reverse on the guy creeping on girl at a con
Now if people want to have deep discussions about the culture of creeping at cons, that's cool but I hope it doesn't end up like last time where a seemingly simple joke has been taken out of context

How true that is
I don't know, panel 1 gabeface is pretty good, too

Also that all butt jokes are basically universally funny without any further explanation required.
Buttz.
i was supposed to know about this... how? Joke premises that rely on inferred information for their premise are always great.

To the point where he's constantly discovering new possibilities. Sometimes mid-sentence.
Your move.

Good show, PA forums.

She looked like Attila the Hun's grandmother. It was neither arousing nor sensual, just ... awkward.
that this is a very funny comic. I especially enjoy the look of confused contemplation for the last panel

I knew (hoped) this would be the first reply and your av/sig just makes it 10x better.
