I'd really like to meet the genius who thought it was a good idea to have item drops affected by weapon and world physics. They must be a very cool person.
I love that fine enough, but I've become especially enamoured with boss drops flying so far and so fast that they disappear and everyone has to spend 5 minutes combing the area in the hope of ever actually finding the item they were killing the boss for in the first place.
I saw someone baseball bat a boss to the face with the Gram. His material drop was on the corpse, but I noticed a gun mod that got shot literally across the entire room and landed up on a ledge we had to kind of wall run to get to. I think if I wasn't a bit further back from the fight, I'd have probably never noticed the mod going off like a homerun into the distance.

Kind of hoping those few times Jackal seemed to drop almost nothing it didn't just go flying off somewhere.
It's literally the only thing impossible to get without platinum.
Which is pretty much standard in f2p games. I can't really think of a f2p game with loadout slots that doesn't make you pay cash money for them so it's not like it's a huge deal.
Do you guys have a google doc running with a list of player names? If not, why not!?
They could stand to let people start with three slots - it's not like they have the number of "chassis" MWO does, but two slots is restrictive. Though with Orokin stuff dropping now, you can spend the starter plat on a couple slots without gimping your Warframe. That didn't used to be the case until a month ago.
I haven't played in a while because the player count was a ghost town - like, 3 people total per system outside Mercury. Has that improved? Or was that a glitch with matchmaking? (and has it been fixed?)

I've been consistently getting into pug groups while I've been playing so I guess it's picking up compared to what you said. This game does seem to be kinda under the radar though.

Anyone here got an Ember warframe spec'd for three points into Fire Ball? I spec'd mine in a way I got all of the Mod Slots, but that left me with only one point in Fire Ball. Essentially, I'd like to go into a mission with the other Ember, and compare damage dealt, since the game refuses to tell you how big of a boost in damage it really is.

The way I hear it, Ember's only worthwhile ability is the Ring of Fire.
I want to actually test it out. My Ember is maxed, and Fire Blast is indeed her best ability at first glance, with World on Fire being alright on boss fights and Overheat being alright as a preemptive measure against the Grineer Seekers. Either way, I'd like to test out the difference in damage on Fire Ball without having to spend 60k potentially twice on respecs.

So hey that's neat, just got to Hyena.
Basically they took a boss I enjoyed because it involved something other than "shoot it a lot", removed the gimmick, and gave him a huge fast recharging shield so that the strategy is now "shoot it a lot more"
Really not feeling the boss fights, I'm thinking the Jackal was just a fluke.
To be fair there is actually a strategy to dealing with each boss. Adding armor pen, using frost weapons, that sort of thing.

They mostly just feel bland, I dunno.
"Give this normal dude a better gun and access to a warframe ability"
They need more impressive bosses. Shit, Jackal has his own special arena that locks you in and periodically drops containers from the broken rail on the ceiling. You can tell a lot of thought was put into that fight.
The only other boss that feels like to me is the one for Eris, its a unique infested model at least, I've only fought it once so far though.

edited February 2013
So new patch today, 6.4
New:
"Dagger Axe" skins added to the Market for Scindo and Dual Zoren. FOV slider added to display options.
Changes:
Player must now login to the launcher to receive updates, going from launcher to game logs player in automatically.
Enemies affected by freeze damage mods will now have an effect applied to their model.
AI death from freeze damage now causes them to shatter.
Options menu tabs now have a roll over effect when highlighted. Lex balancing (less recoil, slightly higher fire rate)
Fixes:
Fix for frozen enemies messing with Defense wave counters.
Restorative items now use the proper effects.
Fixed a case where players could consume their last weapon in a slot for a blueprint.
Temporary invulnerability added to beginning of bleedout to prevent near instant bleedout timer.
Client logs will not be spammed when playing a Grineer Asteroid level.
Fixed an issue with co-op doors and dead spectating players.
Fixed several problems with aggregated stat views.
Dying on an elevator no longer causes body to fall through elevator.
Fix for being stuck in place for several seconds after a skipped cinematic. Fixed taking damage during a cinematic.
Fixed freeze damage actually speeding up some AI animations.
Fix for Bullet Attractor attach position not always looking great.
Fix for enemies running away during tutorial/dojo tests.
Fix for text not appearing on the upgrade screen when language is set to Chinese.
Fix for gear names overlapping prices.
Fixed an issue with clan chat messages sometimes not showing up.
New clan members now update their clan status upon accepting a clan invite.
Gravity is now disabled during Bladestorm preventing player from falling after each strike.
Fixed Infestation boss being in wrong boss room.
Roll can now interrupt a reload.
Pressing V no longer causes the player to roll. Ammo pickups are shared for all players in a match.
Fix for certain AI showing as a target on the minimap in Exterminate missions.
Fixed security camera death effect position.
Fix for multiple damage immunity effects occurring at the same time causing various issues.
Fixed fullscreen setting not saving if player used Alt+Enter without saving display options after.
Fix for host migration causing pickups to disappear.
Fix for Crush and Overload animations continuing after being knocked down.
Likely fix for resolution changes not being saved for some users
Fixed an issue for certain Grineer Asteroid level layouts not spawning enemies until reaching the end
Bolded some particularly great changes and fixes.
And now that ammo is shared, there is absolutely no reason to separate rifle, shotgun, and sniper ammo whatsoever.
EDIT: After trying it out on a mission, the changes to Lex feel really nice. I could see myself continuing to use this pistol even after I'm done ranking it up now.
I wish they make it that materials were distributed to everyone like credits. I don't see the point of having everyone pick it up if it no longer goes to only one person.

I actually missed out on a Neurode that I needed yesterday because Choco thought I picked it up and I didn't realize it had dropped
My suggestion would be to use the pistol for mastery and just get a decent primary weapon. If you've got a good rifle or shotgun there's no reason to even use your pistol, and if you play coop then even guns you don't use will get plenty of xp.
Pistols are bad even when supercharged. Less damage, less ammo, less mods.

Yeah, but on the data thingy carry missions it'd be nice to have a less butts pistol.
Akimbo latos are alright for that. You still get double ammo even with one pistol out.
For just plain old killing shit, bronco is best. It looks wonky, but it reloads instantly so the clip size doesn't matter at all, and it's the best pistol for multishot mods. However, it's bugged so that it can never hold more than 2 shots.
Man, I really want to like the Strun but it just doesn't deliver. It takes way too long to reload, has a limited mag size, but still requires a double tap on most things at point blank range. Urgh.
I'm just saying they have avenues to try. It's not like it makes the drop rates any better or random events happen more often. They're still in fucksville.

Mine holds 3 shots! But like you said, it doesn't matter since it reloads so fast anyways.
Do further mag size modifications not actually add what they look like they're going to add? I got a second mag size mod for my Strun and it went from 8 to 9 instead of going up to 10.
EDIT: Also, the website is telling me this: "You must signup and activate your account with a beta key before you can log in to the forums." When, yanno, I'm playing the damn beta right now.
Anecdotal evidence for improved alloy and rubedo drop rates.
Also had the delightful experience of a mod flying into a corner of the room that made it impossible to get to. Physics + drops continues to be the best thing ever.
Technically they do work, but they round down and because the starting clip is so low being percentage based you aren't getting anything from them until you have all of them. My level 30 Bronco with all the nodes does have a clip size of 3.
But yeah, from what I have read on the Design Council board, changes are afoot that will affect that. You'll see.
Unrelated to that directly, but one thing I really like about the devs on Warframe. Unlike some games, they will straight up admit when something sucks and is needing a change. They also are really good at rapidly iterating and putting out hotfixes based on suggestions or when things break.
Everyone knows that all weapons are getting made over, just like warframe trees are getting redone. It's not big deal.
The problem right now is that after you get a good primary weapon everything else is obsolete. And that 75% of melee weapons are just reskins. And that secondary weapons only get 4 mod slots. And that charge damage isn't based on a weapon's damage and automatically ignores armour, making most mods useless on charge damage weapons (why would I use my +75% melee damage mod with my gram when it's mostly about charging anyway, and why would it attack faster than the other heavy weapons when they can just as easily get high attack speeds and the hammer ignores armour on basic attacks, etc). And that the inventory and stats UIs are the worst things possible.

they really need more bosses with gimmicks of some sort beyond "Sort of like a normal enemy but way stronger"
Just need that systems blueprint for my Rhino.
Well, that and general material farming.

I'll work on one tonight. I have some ideas already, and I want more people to play this awesome game.

It needs to run more alert missions.

I don't think that's a good enough reason since they could always implement an auto-kick for anyone who is idle for an extended period of time.
If there was a vote-kick, this could work. But that opens a whole other can of worms.

Also the Bronco clip size thing isn't a bug, but an intentional limitation.
It's obvious that it's done on purpose, but it may as well be a bug since they're not bothering to either fix it or change the upgrades.
