Basically they wanted to make Warframe all those years ago and got told that it was deemed "too risky" after they cooked up all this awesome shit. It got back burnered and the Dark Sector we have now is the result of the publishers wanting a "safe" game.

I'll never understand how a game about space ninjas was ever thought to be too risky, to me anyway it screams "greatest idea ever"

Update today - I think. Apparently there will be vaults that appear in the OD missions and you need to be carrying a key to open them. There are 4 keys and you can only hold one, so you'll need a full team to have a 100% chance. Inside the vaults are 'corrupted' mods with large increases in a given area but "drawbacks" to balance them out. So uh.. neat?
The Orokin Vaults have emerged in the Derelict Tile Sets! https://forums.warfr...s-have-emerged/
Ongoing User Interface upgrades and styling improvements.
Survival Mission Improvements:
Items awarded at 5 minute intervals are now shown in the HUD below the Lotus transmissions.
Reward items now stack as you play - all rewards are given at the end of the mission.
As you play and survive, you will receive items at these times:
5m: Item from the first reward tier
10m: Item from the first reward tier again
15m: Guaranteed Void key (this is considered the second reward tier).
20m, 25m, 30m+: Item from the third reward tier
Void mission Prime rewards are awarded at 15 minutes only.
Mission rewards are now split into three distinct tiers of enemy level, instead of being based on faction.
Expect better rewards based on the enemy tier you are fighting:
Tier 1: Level 1-25
Tier 2: Level 25-45
Tier 3: Level 45+
Void mission rewards are tied to the tier of the key.
Extraction no longer triggers if only one player enters the extraction area.
If the life support bar is still depleting, *all* players must be at extraction to complete the mission.
The regular 60 second extraction timer starts if half the team is at extraction *after* the life support bar reaches zero.
All doors in the level are now locked until you trigger the alarms.
Added an effect to show the exact position of the next incoming support capsule.
CHANGES
Improved management and feedback when equipping mods between weapons and sentinels.
Bosses now have their blueprint drops as end-mission rewards (like Lephantis) instead of physical orbs in the level.
Further improvements on the experimental multi-threaded rendering option. If you had this enabled, take note you will need to re-enable this in the settings area.

Made Dojo prop decoration destruction give all your resources back.
Hooked up sound to the Revive mechanic, falling downed allies now has audio feedback.

Improved spawning logic in Corpus Ship Survival.
Changed minimap marker settings to help with finding Survival capsules in Grineer Galleon.
Added a limit to the number of Survival markers that appear onscreen at once; aside from making it easier to see the action this may also help with frame-rate.

How to break Warframe: Team composition - Nova + Vauban + Nekros. Mission: Defense
Hang out at the pod and wait for the wave to hit. The Vauban drops a vortex and once it gets sufficiently packed with enemies, the Nova fires off its nuke. As soon as it detonates the Nekros fires off a maxed out, stretched Desecrate since he's only got a small window when everything is disintegrating. This will cause a massive tidal wave of loot and orbs. Everyone then runs around and collects their massively increased amount of goodies.
Enjoy your rapidly cleared defense waves, dozens of mods, and shitpile of loot.

Nice find! It also gets you Dark Sector, which is kind of the predecessor game to Warframe. If I'm not terribly mistaken, they even share some lore.
Dark Sector was literally Warframe originally, but publishers decided that it would sell better set in a modern war period or something, it's really interesting slash terrible to read the story of the development of that game.
A few Market weapons are being retired: Gorgon, Dual Ether Daggers, Boar, and Machete. You have 7 days to get them before they go into the retirement!
Get them blueprints, folks.
Huh... I wonder what that's about. My prediction: The next big update will see an expansion of the Grineer clan research, including a Grineer-styled shotgun (replacing the Boar) and melee weapons.
Was the Gorgon broken? I haven't got mine built yet.

Nah, but it has been in the game for-fucking-ever. My only guess is that newer weapons are coming in that compete with them or already exist that do and they want to drive people to the newer toys. Of course, that doesn't explain the dual ethers being pulled so I guess I dunno.

3 novas and a vauban
Do them 5x faster and get more loot in less time and not have to deal with Nekros' crappy random move that often doesn't even do anything even if it lands.
Or you can do 3 novas and a rhino or something I guess. Rhino is cool, damage roar yay or something.
I dunno, Nekros is terrible and DE should feel bad for making such a bad warframe this late in the games life.
Between the short duration of corpses before they dissolve, and the myriad of ways of killing dudes that leaves no corpse, Desecrate just feels bad.
Nekros just feels bad.
You can still desecrate a dissolving corpse. You have a window after Nova goes off and kills everything to Desecrate everything successfully. It just takes a bit of practice but since you're nailing a huge pile of bodies all in one shot it pays for itself pretty quickly. It's a skill to spam heavily in defense missions with the right team. As a general purpose skill it's only real useful trait is to spawn health orbs to top yourself off with. In this case yeah, it's kinda butts. You basically have to have a Nova or be using an Ogris/Ignis for Desecrate to really shine. Basically anything that creates a whole lotta bodies in one shot for you to roll the Desecrate dice on.
As far as Nekros's other three skills go they're all pretty solid. Soul Punch is a knock out swing against any big guys you run into and will hurt anything behind the target. It's also not a projectile so it doesn't give a fuck about shit getting in the way. Terror is a really solid OH FUCK button and for when you need to make breathing room to revive someone. Shadows is good for crowd control and for getting things up on screen other than you to get shot at so that you can go about your business doing whatever. Nekros isn't a bad frame, it's just that each of its powers are very specific.

By 'very specific' you mean 'vastly inferior to anything almost every other frame can do.'
Soul punch is its only good power. even if the projectile is horribly inconsistent in what it wants to hit (Whole stack of infested? Lets hit the one target you pointed at and some random charger halfway across the room, but not the ancient right behind it or anything around it.) and the fact that hitting ancients with it knocks them towards you for some ungodly reason. The amount of damage I've taken because soul punching a toxic ancient makes it zoom right into your lap.
Terrify is trumped by... pretty much anything? all of Nyx, everything Loki, radial blind, anything rhino, anything ember, anything but frost wave on Frost, bastille and vortex...
And seriously, any ult is better then Nekros' ult. Oh yay I have a bunch of dudes that die in 3 hits and block my own bullets/movement and takes several seconds to cast in which I can still take damage and .. wut? I can just use any other ult in the game and literally just instantly kill everything so it isn't even there anymore? While usually either being invincible or not even having to stop moving? Well gee.
I mean, if you like it, more power to you. But after playing him for several hours and trying him in most missions and maxing him out and all.. He isn't even butts. He's poop from some other butt. I buy shit like the Stalker pack and I have buyers remorse over Nekros. He is that bad.
So he replenishes health and energy? Why not use trinity then?
A maxed out Desecrate causes every corpse it hits to have a 90% chance to do a full reroll on the loot table for something else to spawn. The Desecrate/Nova combo results in way more loot and materials to pop in a given mission since it gives you a second chance for all those goodies. Health orbs spawning from it are actually a completely different roll. You have a max of 60% chance to spawn a health orb and then the chance for the full loot table reroll drop fires off meaning you have 60% chance to spawn a health orb AND a 90% chance to get a 2nd loot drop. It's pretty neat actually, just kinda fiddly due to the whole "requiring a corpse" thing. The mechanics could use a quality of life pass but in the right setups it's pretty solid.
By 'very specific' you mean 'vastly inferior to anything almost every other frame can do.'

1.) Soul Punch: Don't bother trying to care about it being an AoE. It's for running missions and when you hit one of the big elite mobs that hit like trucks but only need to lock it down due to it being a singular threat while you clear the trash. It also does really good damage so it's great at this. In high level content it retains that utility due to the guaranteed knockdown so in non-defense towers and what not it'll still be useful for controlling single targets while the trash gets cleared. I need to try and hit a boss with it just for potential hilarity's sake.
2.) Terrify causes all of the targets it hits to take more damage:
Enemy armor is reduced by 5 / 10 / 15 / 20 percent . This is affected by Power Strength (Focus).
This stacks multiplicatively with Corrosive Projection. Total armor reduction with maxed Terrify, Focus, and Corrosive Projection is ~48.5%.
The skill fails to mention that fact but it makes it really good at high level content smashing and AoE face smashing. It's a really powerful debuff because of this unlisted ability. Conversely, Frost and Ember are complete garbage at dealing damage at high tiers. Frost's entire claim to fame is Frost Orb, without it it'd be one of the worst frames in the game. Ember, coincidently, suffers from that exact problem that Frost gets dangerously close to suffering from of being capped by its damage output. Taking Ember into high end content is a gigantic waste of a player slot because it will get absolutely fuckall accomplished. Every other frame you mentioned except for Nyx doesn't get anywhere close to touching what Terrify can do. Like, not even by accident are they that good for dealing with high end mobs. Loki's decoy despawns after it takes too much damage. Radial Blind only lasts for 15 seconds and has no added bonus on top of that. Rhino Stomp only lasts for 8 and does crap damage. Bastille only lasts for 15 and has the same max target cap that Terrify does and doesn't have bonus effects. Vortex is good as a combo setup (see: Nova/Vortex/Nekros) but again has limited time and doesn't do much in the way of damage versus high end/elite mobs. Etc. etc.
Chaos and Terrify are very comparable with the big difference being that Chaos makes things shoot each other and affects everything while Terrify caps out per cast at 12 mobs + if you have Focus slotted but causes all of those targets to take a bunch more damage.
3.) Desecrate: Very useful with specific party combos, pretty much shit with others. Could be good running solo if you have a heavy duty AoE weapon but I need to experiment with this. Probably the only "eh" skill Nekros has due to how specific it is.
4.) Most ultimates are actually pretty iffy if not downright awful at high level content since they're based around doing damage. Nekros's scales quite effectively since you'll be able to create clones of the shitpile of high level, high armor mobs you're tearing through.
Basically the higher level the content, the better Nekros gets.
Terrify is trumped by... pretty much anything? all of Nyx, everything Loki, radial blind, anything rhino, anything ember, anything but frost wave on Frost, bastille and vortex...
I think they're retiring the Gorgon because it got eclipsed by the Soma. The Soma has better modding efficiency (doesn't take a lot of points or very high-quality mods for the Soma to out DPS the Gorgon), better spin-up time and better accuracy.
P.S: It seems like your head is missing?

Re: Nekros:
In my opinion he's a solid frame with abilities that are situationally useful. I don't enjoy him terribly much, he sucks for soloing (though he's far from the worst frame for that), but Desecrate is great for farming. Most importantly, using Soul Punch just feels good. It's probably the most satisfying ability in terms of feel. And all of Nekros's skills scale well across all level enemies. So yeah, solid frame.
Woah, retiring the Gorgon? What's gunna happen to mine? I'm not particularly attached to it or anything but still.
Weapons being retired doesn't mean they will be taken out - it just means you won't be able to buy them / get them after they're retired. If you already own them or their blueprints, nothing changes.
Anything that's being retired just cant be bought or crafted anymore. Anything already made or blueprints already bought are fine.
EDIT: Beaten but I suggest grabbing the blueprints for any of the retiring weapons because you may want to build them for mastery or for the collection later.
And I don't know. I mean, it IS the ultimate OHK sword, capable of delivering pretty pimp damage in a wide swath (and if that's all you use your melee weapon for, then Galatine is the best weapon). However the low base damage (and average slide/jump damage) and long charge time means that it's not that great at anything but the OHK slice. Orthos Prime still hits WAY faster and has good hitting power in most modes of attack (it's DPS in charge attack mode is only slighly behind due to Galatines high Crit and crit mod. But the crappy melee crit mods means that you can't make something too crazy from these weapons). Also, it doesn't have the stagger effect that you have in for example Scindo or Fragor.
The Galatine is a good weapon, but it's not crazy good.
Me, I like my Dual Ether swords and the Amphis. Their charge attack isn't super, but they have great utility with fast regular attacks that ignore armor and crazy slides.

Didn't have time to check thus morning and I'm on my phone now, are its blueprints in the market?
Which of the soon to be retired things should i buy?
If your main concern is performance, none of them.
Beyond that... Boar and machete are ugly so they're terrible AND ugly. Ether daggers have the similar looking but far better performing dual ether swords. Gorgon at least looks nice (and isn't too shabby either on defense or mobile defense maps) but it's eclipsed by the Soma.

I used my Galatine all day after getting it yesterday and it's definitely not the sorta weapon you can toss on any frame and get success from. If anything it's the ultimate Rhino weapon since Iron Skin guarantees you'll get that huge swing out every time. When Galatine connects though, hot damn. 400 base damage charge attacks do not fuck around.
There's a fun, OP, unkillable Necros build, but it requires some of the rarer mods (Rage, Equilibrium, Quick Thinking) to work. It's great both solo or in groups, and ridiculously good for picking up crap tons of Fusion Cores/Mods/resource farming... Especially now with tiered Survival rewards. (You can easily solo 20+ min)
Sure you can do similar things with other frames, but you're getting your party bonus loot. And I rather enjoy think-outside-the-box builds.

This build is actually fucking nuts for high level tower content. You'll be able to keep farting out Terrifies non-stop which will allow the party to demolish the waves that much faster and keep them alive.

Yes, the guy from Dark Sector is, indeed, the original space ninja, as it were. Its even why they called them Tenno in warframe.

2.) Terrify causes all of the targets it hits to take more damage: The skill fails to mention that fact but it makes it really good at high level content smashing and AoE face smashing.
EDIT: wait, the primary reason you mentioned for bringing nekros was desecrate, now you're saying it's his only meh skill?
WHAT?
RE: Gorgon retirement
Honestly, I have one, but I hardly use it because that spin up is so hard to plan around, maybe my rhino........Also, should I potato my scindo?

In my opinion he's a solid frame with abilities that are situationally useful. I don't enjoy him terribly much, he sucks for soloing (though he's far from the worst frame for that), but Desecrate is great for farming. Most importantly, using Soul Punch just feels good. It's probably the most satisfying ability in terms of feel. And all of Nekros's skills scale well across all level enemies. So yeah, solid frame.

Weapons being retired doesn't mean they will be taken out - it just means you won't be able to buy them / get them after they're retired. If you already own them or their blueprints, nothing changes.

The stalker can track you down for murder in the orokin tower missions.

Sure you can do similar things with other frames, but you're getting your party bonus loot. And I rather enjoy think-outside-the-box builds.
Glad Nekros is so great.
Didn't read my counterpoint post at all didja?
This build is actually fucking nuts for high level tower content. You'll be able to keep farting out Terrifies non-stop which will allow the party to demolish the waves that much faster and keep them alive.
