Well, we have a thread on the recently-released TMNT: Arcade for the Live Arcade, and while that's trickled down into movie talk, I though thought it'd be nice to have an actual Movie Game thread, so here we go!
All shamelessly taken from Wikipedia:
TMNT is a single player action/adventure multi-platform video game starring the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The game is expected to be released for the Xbox 360, Wii, PlayStation 2, and Nintendo GameCube, PSP and DS video game consoles, as well as for the PC on March 20, 2007. The game's release will coincide with the release of the movie of the same name.
The gameplay in TMNT will feature many acrobatic segments in the vein of another Ubisoft game series, Prince of Persia. UbiSoft has stated the focus within the game "will be on the four turtle brothers finding out their differences and getting through family problems." They also have said that TMNT "will feature mostly Single-Player campaigns for each brother."

Which version do you plan on getting? I was originally shooting for the PSP one, considering it'd be like the console releases, however, I've recently found out that design-wise it's a port of the DS game. So, it seems like I'll be going with the GBA version. I need something new to play on my GBA micro anyway.

Are they still using the whole 'footclan is robots', 'shredder is an alien in a robot suit', 'OMG lost civilizations in the sewers' stuff from the recent cartoon show or did they change back to the movie/90s cartoon mythos?

You got 2 things wrong here. First off, the 90's cartoon is the only mythos to use the "footclan is robots" thing. Secondly, they can't change back to the "movie/90s cartoon mythos" because those two mythos are totally separate from each other. Actually, the new cartoon is closer to the movies than the old one.
Uh, weren't the foot clan robots in the original series, but people in the old movies and new series? Or have my childhood memories failed me?
edit: hi5 Death of Rats
No, you got it right.
i am borrowing the 360 version from work though, i hear its pretty short and an easy 1000 points.
that i do.
In the original 1984 comic, the Foot clan were humans.
In the 1987 cartoon, the Foot soldiers were robots.
In the 1990 live action movie, the Foot clan were humans.
In the 2003 cartoon, the Foot clan were humans.
Go humans.
Definitely going to rent it on the 360 to go along with the high from watching the movie.
Woohoo childhood, here I come.

Were they really humans in the original comics?
I distinctly remember a panel from an early comic I had where one of the turtles hit a foot soldier and then a big CLANK thing came up. Then Leo said "CLANK? They're robots?" and they ripped them apart.
Granted, I was born in '87, so it probably wasn't the original comic that I was reading.
Bingo. Humans > Robots ; Rat Splinter > Human Splinter
Was it in color? If so, no, it was the Archie comic. The Archie comic was a little less mature and had its own continuity/cast of characters.
"Clang? Did you say clang?"
Was in the pilot episode of the cartoon.
Via Raph.
I watched that episode so many damned times.
The Foot clan in the original comic were very much human, and the Turtles would cut them up and they would bleed.
EDIT: Beat'd x3
I still like the robots better. Makes it kid-friendly while still allowing for things to get cut up.
I've only seen bits of it.

Yes, that's the original comic. Notice how the new TV series has an episode that follows it. Also notice that the turtles in the new movie look closer to that than the turtles in the 80's show.

This is a forum. We don't PLAY games. Just talk about them.
I'm very sure you were, in fact, reading a coloring book. I suggest, because I have the coloring book and that very same scenario happened. Leo cut them in half right down the middle.
Anyway, yeah. GBA all the way.
Talking about the games should be secondary! Every thread about Ninja Turtles must become a general Ninja Turtles discussion thread! If you limit discussion to just the games, you miss out on so much nerdom and information about the franchise you never knew. I am interested on the controls for the Wii version though. I'll probably rent the game if it's good. I am a complete whore for the series besides the obvious dreck like Next Mutation and Flash Forward. I swear Flash Forward is like the New Adventures of He-Man to the ninja turtle fans. It's a kick to the teeth.
Hey so speaking of the cartoon, I just saw the first episode of the Ninja Tribunal arc for the new cartoon. It was pretty awesome. But uhhhhhhh can anyone refresh me on the finale for season 4? I kind of forgot most of what happened and it may make things clearer like on why the Tribunal has an empty seat. I think they said why but I can't quite remember.
Yeah, that occured to me as I typed it. Thing is, I didn't ever want to color it as I knew it would end up terrible.
Anyway, it's official: GBA version, WITH comic book. score.
BEAT FEAT! BEAT FEAT! BEAT FEAT! BEAT FEAT! BEAT FEAT! BEAT FEAT! BEAT FEAT!
But seriously, that drove me insane in that first game based on the new series one.
The GBA game looks cool though.
"The new 360 game is all sorts of awesome. Sort of like Prince of Persia meets Crash Bandicoot. It's very much on rails. The fighting system is very fun, (again like prince of persia).
Although it does seem very simplistic. The turtles all seem to fight pretty much the same, just with different animations for the weapons. Keep hitting B for sword attack (Hold at end of combo to do some kind of spinny weapon thing. Raph throws his Sai's, Don spins on his stick, Leo does a move where his swords kind of levitate around his body), hit Y for melee (kick attack) which works in the same fashion as the weapons.
Holding down B on it's own does a charge attack, let go and aim towards bad guys and you do a dash attack similar in style to the first POP's mega pause-time-and-slash move.
The jumping attack is cool. Leap in the air, press attack, it goes all slomo and you jump down and pound the ground, not doing much damage to enemies but knocking them flying.
There's also an "anger" meter, after killing so many people it fills up and everything goes in to slomo. Not sure if it was just Raph but in this mode I could press X and it did a funky POP style throw-out-arms-and-knock-down-and-kill-bad-guys-in-area move. Like the first offensive move you get in Sands of Time.
Graphics themselves are mediocre, like a hi-res Xbox game. Swinging around etc is fun but glitchy, I landed under the floor a couple of times on Donatello's first level and glitched through the walls occasionally.
Other impressions: Don't want to spoil the plot or anything, but the first mission is a training mission, just to get you used to controls, with splinter narrating. Up to stage 4 and it was pretty easy thus far and the levels are ten minutes or under easily.
Anyway, definitely good fun!"
And with regard to coop:
"It doesn't have it. It uses a mechanic where you can swap between the turtles at anytime to use each of their abilities. You start the stage with only Leo, the more flips you do, fights you win or stunts you pull off builds up the meter to add Mike. When you max the meter out, Mike joins you and you can flip to him at any time by hitting X (You do a funny ninja spin and characters swap). Then the bar builds up to add Don and then Raph.
It wouldn't work as coop, it's too on rails and the team aspect is fairly integrated in to the one player. For example if you're jumping a gap that's too long you hit X and one of your buds swings in, grabs you and chucks you further. You can do other group moves by holding down X mid fight. I won't let slip the moves as they're pretty fun to see for the first time! "
Some specials are pulled off by holding block mid fight, like climbing a wall with Raph's Sais or using Mikey's Nunchucks to slow his descent (He actually whistles a tune whilst airborn).
So...there you go. Definitely worth a play.

What the hell.
